wplummer - 2011-03-14 1:22 PM i hope that everyone is doing great. i have had to take it easy the last few days-avoid sun exposure. so i am like a vampire and i am enjoying the cool sunless mornings. i have found id i just take it easy and and relax into a real slow pace i am ok and can tolerate it. plus the mornings are beautiful. wednesday is the big day when i go back and have my face lasered after this fun two weeks having my face looking like fried bacon-and just being on fire. lets go train.

Good luck on Wednesday!

X 2

That doesn't sound like fun. Good luck with the treatments. I hope its over soon. Keep smiling and it will help you through.

van_paulus - 2011-03-14 5:04 PM Bagged the available time slot for my bike ride on saturday and watched tv instead . Well ... it was an Alfred Hitchcock movie i had never seen . Was more motivated (or perhaps less tired ) sunday , I joined our distance running group (usually about 30) who are tapering for LA marathon and were doing ten . Before the turnaround at mile 5 things were going rather well and i continued into a mountain park (mentryville) and ran a hilly 5 k course and then rejoined the ten route and headed back home . Was treated to shade ,steep canyon views , peace and quiet and many curious hares out for a morning nibble. I was privileged to be the first on the trail . I am prepping for a hilly trail half-marathon this month . the training run of great benefit for the upcoming hills and distance. Monday : Best workout after long runs or races : i swam .

Sounds pretty. I miss running in he mountains and can't wait for it to warm up back home so I can hit the hills again.

What's in the works for everyone this week? I am going to buy a package of sessions from the yoga studio to make sure that I keep going.

It's a good thing that I don't have spinning as a goal because my spinner is broken now. My friend was swinging the pedal back and forth in the bottom 180 degrees repeatedly and then I heard a crash, now the pedals won't move. Too bad I wasn't in the room because I would have stopped him!

Hi Melissa, yay for lots of yoga and boo for a broken trainer! I hope he is fixing it for you!

I have a hard couple of days still and then a couple days easy because I am fighting again on sat night. 5 rounds this time which I am nervous about, I'm trying to get my head in the right space and relax a bit!

Bet you are looking forward to your race, its great that everyones race seasons have started - now ours is not so far from ending in Australia! I have just one more tri left, and a marathon and 160k bike. I think that will do though!

Have a great week!

Sounds like you've had a fun season. Good luck with the fight this weekend. I hope you kick some butt.

My feet are very swollen at 2 injury sites from my 10km run today... Limping along wondering what type of running is in my future. Too bad I've already paid for that half marathon in May. Worst case scenerio I can walk it, but that won't be much fun for me.

On the bright side - the blistering is still at bay! I've been using the rubbing alcohol + double walled socks.

Glad you've finally found something to keep those blisters at bay. Too bad about your latest injuries. Keep the faith. You'll find something to take care of them too.

pdbman - 2011-03-14 11:44 AM Just hooked the laptop up to the wifi as I'm sitting here looking out over the ocean and the surfers. Can't find the motivation to do anything more than to just sit here and relax and enjoy.

You must not be in Utah!

Definitely not in Utah. We're in Oceanside, CA. I finally dragged myself out, put on a wetsuit and hit the waves. I just watched the sunset and now I'm watching the pink gradually darken as the last of the light diminishes over the ocean. I could easily live like this if I didn't have to worry about silly things like money to pay for food and housing and stuff. I'm thinking a morning run along the beach is soundling nice. I'll see how long we stay up tonight before I decide how early that morning run will be.

I grew up in Vista.  You NEED to go to Nytro in Encinitas!  Enjoy! Tongue out

Despite icing the areas I was woken up repeatedly through the night by my feet. I'm worried about them this time. What's with the 2 in 1 special? It's really weird to walk too because 1 is on the inside border of the left foot and the other is on the outside border of the right.

Not sure what the next step is. I will ice them again this morning and see how work goes (standing/walking job in a clinic).

So I'm looking into going to a Chiropodist, hopefully I will get some answers, healing and future prevention there.

I won't be doing much if any running for the rest of the month so I am going to change my running goal based on March 1-15. Total runs to date 5/6.

We're heading to San Diego today. I'm mapping it out to see if I can squeeze it into our schedule. Looks like a cool place online.

Does not sound like fun. I hope the doc can help you figure out what's up and that you heal up fast.

Awwww, Melissa....That stinks.  Despite my injuries I still

Yup - me too ... I have some recurring lower body injuries (mostly tendonitis, but also a torn Achilles that never quite healed right) and I refuse to stop running. My doctor told me I'd never run again and I laughed. Now I don't run far, or fast, and I take lots of walking breaks - but I still run! And I love it!

Injuries SUCK. Sorry you are hurting. The best advice I can give is listen to your body above all else.

Sounds like a beautiful run! I did some trail running a few years back - it's HARD!

I'll just be a complete post-hog and post a bunch of times in a row.  Tongue out

The good news: I WENT SWIMMING YESTERDAY! Good thing, considering I have a tri in 14 weeks!

I injured my left shoulder very badly last March, and basically lost use of my arm for 3 months - the recovery was long and painful and there were times I didn't think I'd ever regain "normal" use ... but I'm happy to report I did and I SWAM! There are definately lingering mobility issues, but only minor pain ... and NO aches or pains today, which is a very good sign! I also pull drastically to the right, but I'm hoping that'll stop once I build up the muscles in my left shoulder. Otherwise my OWS should be interesting.

I'm so pleased!

Thanks for everyone's well wishes for the feet. I'm still limping about but the areas seem less stiff than this morning. I'm waiting for my husband to find out our health insurance number so that I can make an appointment with the chiropodist... Hopefully he gets it soon.
