bryancd - 2011-04-29 8:15 PM LOL! I brought in a 25 foot tape measure to one of the local LA Fitness pools to check. I know the one's in Norwalk and Stamford are the same as my splits are the same. I would be at least 3-5 seconds slower in a meter pool.

Pictures?

Shaun and I arrived in FL.  Got to eat at my favorite place for dinner -- Sweet Tomatoes, I love being able to get a monster salad.  Tomorrow morning is pancakes for breakfast, a massage to loosen my neck & back, which always tighten up when flying and then an easy swim-bike-run.

Hoping to be able to sleep well tonight because I know it won't be easy tomorrow night.  The weather seems to be co-operating not too windy and temps in the mid-80s.  Looks like the water will be 80-81 degrees so no wetsuit for the swim (a good thing for me).

Hope everyone has a great Saturday!

Will kelly's race be live on internet anywhere? or where can we see results, besides BT when kelly posts them.

Day off today, sort of. Started with Peanut Soccer Pictures, followed by coaching peanut (3-4 yr olds) soccer.  Immediately left that for opening day of baseball/teeball, which started with a parade to the little league complex.  Then coached my 6 yr old in a tee ball game.  Quick stop for lunch, then more yard work.  It never ends.

30 miler on the bike tomorrow, early

80 degrees and windy is February here.  Watcha complaining about???  Tongue out

Paid my last 2 entry fees, or planned entry fees, of the year.  A sprint that's may be closer to Oly distance on 6/12 and another Sprint in August.  Might pick up an Oly late in August that I did the sprint version of last year for my first tri ever.  Kinda a sentimental thing.

1.5 to 2 hours on the road by myself at sunrise tomorrow.  Should be tranquil.

Good luck Kelly.  Have fun and more importantly kick rear end.

I've been having problems with my hip after every run it is so sore it take three or four days for it to be good enough for me to run again. I think I have found my solution I went to the good feet store and got inserts. They took little prints of my feet and according to the guy at the store my left arch is gone which is causing a mis alinement of my hips and all my problems. Well I can tell you i've been using them for about three days (2 short runs they said I needed to start slow because my body/muscles aren't use to the new alinement) and I can tell the difference already.  1. I don't pronate anymore and my joints don't hurt. I actually felt faster. Tomorrow will be the real test if I wake up with no pain I'm going go about 5-7 miles and see how that feels.

glad orthotics work for you.  nothing worse than foot pain.  I have very tight, well everything, i try and devote some off season work to flexibility and strengthening doing lots of lunge variants and squat variants (body weight only).  also, i find pilates and yoga also really help, but that is all strictly off season stuff as i barely have time to do SBR.

TOday I go up early and rode lots. an hour on the trainer while it was dark and then outside.  I felt very good on the ride. twas cold however.  I rode some of the toughest hills in my neighborhood and spun up them nicely keeping my HR done.  Totoally under threshold this ride.  could easily have rode another hour or so.  I was home my 8 AM, to Little League opening day at 9, game at 1.  I has musings about going for a short run, but figure I have 2:30 to run tomorrow morning so missing it is not the end of the world.  I'm pooped but have a birthday party to go to tonight.

Umbilocal Hernia Update:

I had my surgical consult.  apparently umbilocal hernias are actually abdomenal fat that presses through, not intestine like groin hernias.  basically the doctor said dont bother doing anything until after race season, at the earliest, and unless it bothers me there is no need for surgery.  He said there is no issue with a medical emergency as can occur with a groin hernia if the intestine "gets stuck".  at worst if the fat "gets stuck" its just hurts and you get the operation sooner.

Side note: as the doctor was examining my belly button he said have very stong abdomenal muscles "with good formation." I suppose that is a complimental, however, since the doctor was another dude i found it pretty funny, only the type of thing a doctor would say.

Good luck Kelly! Have fun and KICK !

I bailed on the Breast Cancer Walk this morning. Too dang windy (currently 23mph gusting around 30mph...and 40 degrees). We got some good money donated at work, so the cause still gets the benefit.

April's totals:
Bike:29h 50m 24s  - 489.37 Mi
Run:18h 25m 50s  - 105.65 Mi
Swim:6h 21m 05s  - 16950.53 Yd

Not too bad of a month for me, since I was just able to start back running.  Need to swim more.

So yesterday my friend and I did the "5k run, 100k bike, drink a beer" triathlon.  We had a lot of fun, but the bike course was much hillier than I expected.  Riding in Georgia I expect hills, and actually prefer hills vs. flat, but it just seemed to never end.  And it was hotter than heck!

Today I did the 30 min. run field test - which was brutal.  Not fun at all, but it's done and I can now update my zones.  Funny thing is today's result is only 1 beat higher than what I have been using based on a 10k race I did 2 years ago.
