Well the grind of 11 out of 12 days working 12.5 hours got the best of me the last couple days so I took a couple off instead of trying to hurt myself. 4 miles today and felt amazing the whole time... back at it tomorrow. May go out tonight but if I don't go out ill throw some time in on the trainer. But glad to say with the next paycheck that the bike will be paid off 100%.... now for wheels lol.
Think i may do rockey point triathlon in march.. will give me something to focus on~ |

Rest and relax, do not feel guilty for a planned day off to refresh. Revisit your goals...then get back to it with consistency and determination to complete your goals. |

Expert 1058 Fallon, Nevada | Subject: RE: bigDH's accountability training -- closed -- good luck out there! This week's training has had some highs and lows. I have a pain deep inside my hip, almost like sciatica but not consistently in that spot. The run seems to irritate the pain so Tuesday was HORRIBLE! Walked most of it, and the hill I conquered the previous week killed me and I walked more than half. Wednesday was a bike day on the trainer and it worked out fine. Last night, on the treadmill and the pain reared its ugly head once again. Day off from training today and my weekend is filled with bike and swim. Hopefully, a full three days off the run will help. |

That pain sounds rough. With both running and biking, those work some muscles and weaken others. There are tons of strengthening exercises that you can look at doing. I personally try to get it done nightly. Everyone gets away with it for different periods of time but eventually it catches up to you. Is this a new pain?? |

Member 106 | Subject: RE: bigDH's accountability training -- closed -- good luck out there! I spent yesterday morning with about 30 5/6-year olds, they never stopped still long enough to be counted haha... so I took yesterday as a rest day. Today, however, was a bust, nutritionally and physically. I ended up going with my brother to pick up some things for his airsoft field to watch my 2-yr old niece and ended up having Chiptole for lunch (1000 calories). My birthday dinner was supposed to be this weekend, but was moved to tonight so my uncle and grandfather can come - at the Olive Garden. I've already planned out my meal (salad no dressing, limit myself to 1 breadstick because you can't possibly go there and not eat the breadsticks!, and half an entree). I was only able to get in a 30 min stationary bike workout. This weekend I plan on getting back on the road bike and doing a long, easy hour ride. I haven't had trouble with the stationary bike as far as pushing my HR up, so it should be okay without the inhaler. I will be bringing my cell phone and my route passes the fire station where my brother is a paramedic, so I know the guys there. Sunday I plan on swimming to make up for the swim I missed today. |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: bigDH's accountability training -- closed -- good luck out there! Morning y'all: I just wanted to check in and share some good news. I hit the scale today and discovered that I had dropped below 240 for the first time in a year. If I can lose 2 more pounds this week - that will equal a 10% weight loss in 9 weeks. Sweet. Like Kevin, I've still got some weight to go and I'd like to ask in advance for some encouragement in a few weeks when my motivation goes down the toilet. On tap for this weekend - an hour and a half on the trainer (gonna stick to my goal of only watching Biggest Loser when I'm working out), a hour walk on Sunday, and a couple of cold ones (Sierra Nevada's new rye, which I can't wait to try!) to reward myself for a good week! Hope you all have a great weekend! DQ |

I found myself doing that during the off-season when I didn't want to bike or swim. I think it's a reasonable, good way to build up. Dave and Kevin, congratulations on the weight loss! I had a beautiful trail run today but found myself having to walk up all the hills to keep my heart rate down in the right zone. That, and it's FREEZING here today! Now I can bundle up in my cozy apartment, watch football, and eat hot delicious foods. I also have a 3 day weekend, so I'm thinking long swim and weights tomorrow with trainer later in the day. |

Extreme Veteran 2098 Alberta | Subject: RE: bigDH's accountability training -- closed -- good luck out there! Well no training today, just a hockey game tonight! Hockey is so much easier when you are in shape and not weighing 300 lbs! Started making a mini rink for my son and daughter last night/today...chilly to say the least! -27 F with the windchill this morning. Started a little fire(in firepit) in the backyard to warm up...I am sure the neighbors were impressed.... Tomorrow, going to go on the trainer depending on how late i am at the hockey...just one post game barley pop! Have a great week everyone! |
