I'm planning on signing up for and doing Augusta. I'm under the impression it sells out about a month out

Yep you would be correct. Historically it has sold out about 4-6 weeks out. (Or where abouts in that region!) I did it two years go and signed up 5 weeks out and it sold out within that week.

I'm on the tail end of my post IMTX feasting period. Time to get back in the saddle and get back to work. I also just got hired as a 5th grad social studies teacher in Memphis. I'll be busting my rear this summer to make it easier in the fall. I'll be much better trained than I was in Texas.

Going to try and hit up a 70.3 in Nashville in September. Other than that it summer with my 4 little ones. Train well and stay safe.

Anyone know the odds of getting in the 2014 race by showing up for on-ste registration? I would be a non-volunteer.

I'm working with coaches from Training Bible Coaching about possibly running a camp\clinic in attempts to prepare us for IMFL. They would come down to PCB and do onsite training. The coaches on staff are partnered with Joe Friel and the guys that host the podcast are top age groupers. One has a sub 9:00 IMFL on the resume and another has 9:16 at Kona. It would be a 3-4 day camp ranging from $400-$600. Please past this on to your tri clubs and post if interested.

For more info on TBC, check out http://www.trainingbible.com/aboutUs.aspx

When is this possibly going to happen? Would love to do some hard, focused training at the race venue if I could swing it...though I'm not sure I could swing it

There is no date set in stone. Maybe Sept? They just wanted to see if there was interest and get an idea when would be good for majority.

Cool. I have done this race 3xs and my coach set an AG record there a few years ago...but I have yet to achieve my goals there! I'd really consider a super focused, intense weekend of training there to test the waters...keep us posted!!

Hey folks. Isn't there usually a couple semi-organized BT group swims in PCB the week of IMFL? Ocean swimming is likely going to be new to me when I arrive so I am hoping to get a couple decent swims in a few days before just to acclimate myself to the water. Have swam in chop and brackish water but probably not going to make it to beach this summer to practice.

For you IMFL veterans, how soon do you folks usually make reservations? I recall reading some folks saying there was plenty of vacancy. Any specific places you'd highly recommend?

Thanks!

There's over 20,000 hotel/condo rooms in PCB and only 2500 or so athletes.  No worries about finding a place to stay.

That stated, I made my reservations a few weeks ago because I wanted to make sure I got the condo I wanted at the Shores of Panama.  Shores of Panama and Laketown Wharf would be #1 and #2 choices.  They're more or less right across from each other (kitty-corner really) on the road where the race site is located.  Shores is on the beach.  Laketown is on the other side of the road (not on the beach).

We usually agree to meet to swim pretty early in the morning each morning for about three to four days before the race.  I'm also landlocked and really enjoy the chance to get used to swimming in the waves and swell.  Nothing like a little experience before race day.  Stay tuned to this channel for details - probably the week before the race.  There will be all sorts of coordination of stuff - swims, lunches, maybe dinner, drive the bike course, trick or treating are all things some of us may want company for.

Personally, I like to keep the same schedule every morning I'm there, entering the water at 7:00 each day, just like on race day.

So, What's May look like for everyone?  Here's mine:

Swim: 3h 45m - 10658.92 Yd

Bike: 16h 07m - 220.71 Mi

Run: 6h 39m - 32.39 Mi

Strength: 2h 12m

Skiing: 9h 15m

I'm a little short, but essentially doubled my yearly total this month.  Don't want to ramp up too fast.  I've been flirting with hurt calves/achilles all month - seems to be ok now.

I doubt you'll have a problem finding a place to stay race week. As it's been said this is offseason for North Florida and there's plenty of rooms. That said I've already booked because I had to find pet friendly accommodations. This is my first and I booked 3 miles from the race start. Close enough but I didn't want to walk out on the balcony and be reminded/overwhelmed with it all.

As for Mays totals here are mine:

Swim: 10h 09m 05s - 32560 Yd
Bike: 18h 14m 43s - 335.32 Mi
Run: 16h 46m 36s - 131.29 Mi

There were some 'organized' BT swims the week of IMFL, not sure who organised them, but they do exist. Keep checking this thread close to race day. I did one the day before and it was great. I'm not a big fan of the ocean, but it was great to get in the water with a group and just swim a bit. It helped to settle some nerves (not that I didn't have plenty left over for race day or anything!) We met behind the race hotel and then all went for a swim. (BTW, whoever organised last year's practice swims, thank you!)

As for places to stay, there are plenty of condos around. Not many flag properties. I stayed at a Marriott that's about 4-ish miles from the main race site that I really liked. It's a quiet golf course/condo complex, a few racers were around, but it's semi-off the beaten path, which is exactly what I wanted. They have a big outdoor hot tub and I think most rooms are condos. Having a full kitchen, and washer/dryer were nice. A few supermarkets are close by too. Good playground for the kids as well. There is a massive Wal-Mart parking lot about 1/2 mile from the race site/main hotel/expo, so don't worry about parking if you can't find a place to stay within walking distance.

I volunteered last year so I could get in but they took the people on-site after the volunteers were registered. A friend went down to watch and got in the next morning also. Good luck!

So, eight weeks done on the Ironfit plan. Two more weeks of base to go. Got to say that this is might be working, and I may make it to the start line yet. Still slow, but a lot stronger than 8 weeks ago, seeing I started pretty much from the couch. Forty miles today and I could have easily kept riding. Not trying to think about November, just doing one day's workouts at a time......just keep moving forward!

In my opinion, once you get where you can ride 50 or 60 miles, it isn't that much harder to get to 112. A lot of people think of training for Ironman as one big monumental task. I view it as being committed to a plan and slowly increasing distance over several months. If you can ride 60 it isn't too much aof a stretch to think you can ride 65 the next week and so forth.

Great job on building your base.

Very cool, thanks for the replies on hotel and swims! I plan to get down early and do a working vacation alone before the family arrives and get in some swimming with BT folks.

My May totals, just kinda getting into a groove lately and busier than ever in my life so finding it difficult to squeeze in the training:
378 mi bike (hilly).... 16,000 yds swim.... 44 mi run
