Then will close for dinner. Then will open again at like 10 pm. WTF. murrika sucks sometimes. We do it (me, wifey, BIL, SIL). We have certain things that we would like to get based on the price. If we get it....great. If not....no biggy. Part of going is just the expereince to see the clamoring and the stress on peoples faces. It's shopping folks....and if you shop around you can find the same deals or close to it throughout the year. With the stores that open on T-giving, I have no issue with that. Grocery stores, convienience stores, manufacturing plants, etc are open.....why not retail. I think that the Wal-Mart and Target employees that threaten strikes or complain are the issue....not the retailers. You have a job in retail and thus have the retail hours. The puropse of a business is to make money and make the customer happy.....not cater to all of the employees. I don't buy the whole "spend time with family" argument either. Stores that open at 8pm will need employees there around 4pm. If you eat lunch at noon (which means you start cooking and/or show up to your familys house around 10am) that gives you 6+ hours to spend time with them....and you get to see the Parades, a football game, etc. I don't know about y'all, but after 6 hours with my family, I'm looking for a way out. |

Yeah you can count me out on all that bulljive. I am wondering how much they will actually make being open on Thanksgiving. With a gut full of turkey, dressing, gravy, pumpkin pie, etc. only thing on my mind is finding a soft horizontal surface prefferably with a good view of the t.v. |

I wonder how those workers threatening to strike/complain would feel if we shut down the hospital. I have had to work most holidays for many years. Shoot I used to pick up some serious overtime this time of year. Over the last few years I have been off but it wouldn't bother me to work if need be. |

My wife worked in retail management for years. She was basically a picture on a milk carton from midnight on Thanksgiving day until New Years Day. I was fortunate if she got 1/2 off per week, and no weekend days off. But, that was the job she signed up for. She was free to find something else if she didn't like it. Eventually, she did. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I usually do black Friday, although there's not generally more than 1-2 items I'm out for. Instead of fighting the long line at the beginning I try to find out on the online forums what time each establishment releases "held" items.
Last year I scored some pretty nice big ticket items (that people camped for) at Best Buy by waiting until 4a.m. and walking up to a salesman and asking if they had any held. |

Shoot I make it even easier. Cases of FL oranges for everyone!!! Well except my son, then I send his dad out to find the unfindable. He hasn't failed me yet! |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Black Friday will be spent shredding on some man-made snow because Vermont doesn't really have much else yet. Then I will eat and drink beer with my family. I've done the shopping thing - it's not so bad with the right attitude... but I'm no excited about stores being open on Thanksgiving. I consume way too much turkey and wine to safely get to a store without sleeping it off |

I never understood why people get all stressed out... but then again I only buy for family and boyfriend - and both are pretty easy to shop for - not to mention that my family does a pollyana now and has a google docs spreadsheet of wishlists |
