What does everyone think about meeting up for coffee on Saturday morning (10/10) at 10 a.m.? Quick search shows a local Louisville coffee shop, Heine Brothers, at 516 W. Main St. - about half a mile from the Great Lawn and all of the activity.

Practice swim is from 8-10 a.m. so everyone could do that if they were planning on it.
Also, the Underpants Run is at 11:30 if anyone is interested.

SOUND GOOD?

You had me at "coffee". I will hopefully be there and meet you fine folks.

I'll see what I can do to get there.  I plan the swim on course but it won't be long but it may be pretty chilly!

Less than a week, folks!

I just cleaned and set up my bike! She's ready to go! Leaving Thursday, with a bud, so it's time to start gathering/searching for everything necessary for a successful race.

Weather is looking fab. Low 50, high 70, slight winds, and no rain for that day. Perfect. I'm kind of rain shy at this point, as my last 4 rides outdoors were all in it.

Fighting off the remnants of this bug, but I should be good to go in the next few days.

Excited!

After my last training ride Saturday, I changed out a cassette, put on my race wheels and tuned my Di2. Took it for a last test run spin on Sunday morning, and right at the end of the ride, my rear brake locked up. It wouldn't open on its own, I had to pop it out with my hand. It would do that every time I engaged the brake. Sooooo back to the LBS Sunday afternoon. Looks like a gummed up cable housing, but I should be good to go this afternoon. I could do without any more bike stress! But I'm glad it happened last Sunday rather than this Sunday. I don't think I'd want to ride the course with no rear brake.

With the swim being point to point and no shuttle provided .. how is everyone handling race morning logistics? Specifically getting to TI to drop off bottle, etc. and then to swim start race morning. I am going solo, so I don't have anyone to drop me off.

Help!!!!???

Just get yourself to the great lawn for body marking and transition stuff (bottles on your bike, check tire pressure, etc) then everyone walks from there to the swim start. It's less than a mile walk and you'll be in good company. There is lots of parking close to the great lawn, shouldn't be a problem on race morning.

What Lisa said. I'll walk from my hotel to transition to put nutrition and my computer on my bike, turn on the computer, check tires, etc. Then I'll start the walk to the swim start. There will be 1000s of others doing the same.

Good luck everyone! May the wind be at your backs

Quick question: Its been a couple years since I've raced in an IM event, when does registration open for 2016? Monday at 12?

I've been seeing a lot of TBD for registration dates after an IM. It may be a few days or weeks to get everything set up for the next go around.

All info is at the Ironman Louisville site, look for "2016 registration info" under the REGISTER drop down menu. 2016 online registration opens Monday at 12pm ET. There's no rush, it won't sell out for a while.

Looks like Ironman posted on fb that samples taken on Oct 1 indicate algae levels are below threshold levels...I cannot verify, as I can't access fb from work.

Yes, that's true. Samples tested at 4ppb, well below the limit of 20. But to lift the recreational swim advisory, then need a 2nd consecutive test below 20ppb. Further testing is scheduled tomorrow. But so far it's good news, and trending in the right direction.

Hello folks!  My buddy and I are here at the Galt House Hotel.  Went for a short shake out run this evening.  I would like to resurrect the discussion around driving the bike course.  Is there any chance anyone would be able to drive us as we currently do not have a rental car.  We'd make it worth your while.  Feel free to contact me on my cell.  780-278-9079

Thanks!

Terry

Drove the course today and that part of the course is AWESOME. Although the hills are loooooonggggg, the freshly paved asphalt and leaves turning colors are going to make for a great ride.
