You just have to post up and ask for interest Uh, looks like I've just been "volunteered"!!!! Someone told me there is usually a December Swim Challenge. If there is, then would another one in November generate much interest? As for you doing another challenge next month, well, you're doing an AWESOME job with this one. And it's HUGE! There are SO many people/teams to track. (And TANers to keep in line.) So yes, I can see why you'd prefer not to do another one next month. (What? You need to have time for the rest of your life?) Dee
Otherwise Im keen to do a swim one sometime... I already have a few ideas BUT I can tell you I probably wont be doing a challenge next month!!! haha... yeah someone usually puts together a swim one for December... not sure why thats become the norm.... as it is not the same person doing it each year!!! BUT there is no reason why there couldnt be one in November if someone organised it! Having said that if no one gets anything together a swim challenge in december sounds perfect for me... I havent been swimming much recently due to focusing on other things... should really get back into it! Someone remind me mid Novemebr to get it together ok? Veteran 131 Tampa, Florida | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread kns57 - 2007-10-11 9:55 AM 1 mile today. The cool thing about it though, is that I ran the whole mile. No walking (not counting the warm up and cool down). This is my first full mile run all running. My goal is to be able to run a whole 5K on New Years Eve without any walking. Poison Apples Rule! Yay!!!!!!! That is awesome!!! I'm so inspired that I'm going to go out myself and give it a try!!! I usually alternate walk/run quite a bit, but hell, maybe it's time to push myself a little harder. I'm really happy for you!!! Oh, and about the numbers thing....Thank GOD. I was starting to think there was and inner rain man in me. I count steps, breaths, laps, multiples, primes....I thought it was just me....I am feeling so good right now. Have to go run before this feeling passes! I'm kinda hoping for a bike challenge next month since I'll be picking up my new bike next Friday, but I do love to swim....so you can count me in! Yay Poison Apples!!! |

Actually, I'd totally go for that because I'm determined to focus on swimming in the off season (after my tri next month). But I probably wouldn't sign up for one until December. Probably. (I shouldn't mention that I'm generally pretty easy to convince on these kinds of things...) OK, I'll remember that you said this, come December. |

Expert 1580 Ankeny, Iowa | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Way to go Team - We had some awesome victories today - KNS57 ran her first mile GREAT JOB!!!! and Lyssa who did 5 miles under 10 min/mile - GREAT JOB!!!! I just finished a 2.25 mile run that takes me just under 1/2 way to go with at least another run tomorrow with hubby and a walk that put me up to 4.1 on the night (I am not counting my walking right now since I am trying to build run time)... As of right now (7:23pm CST on Thursday) we are at 42.92% of goal... Big leaders... Lyssa-gator - 63%, Baowolf - 59.60%, klgray - 55.26%, Dee - 49.7%. Husker Tri Girl - how are you doing? I am starting to worry how you are doing. Most of us have at least 30% of our goal completed. Keep it up Poison Apples - we are doing GREAT!!! MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread I like the idea of a bike challenge in Nov and a swim in Dec. But then again, a swim challenge in Nov would be fun for I'll be in Mexico the first whole week of Nov. Swimming in a huge pool next to the ocean, and maybe even some OWS in the ocean. Oh yeah! I could get into that. Would snorkeling count? Oh yeah, I'm so ready for vacation. It's been too long. |

Veteran 228 Greenbelt, MD | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread With the iffy weather today (looked like it was going to rain) and the need to do something about my lumbar pain, I took the easy way out and walked at the local jumbo mall. They have massage chairs, so started with a 3 minute shiatsu and then on my way out stopped at Bed Bath and Beyond and gave both their shiatsu massagers a try...didn't totally fix it but for an hour or so it felt better. The Arundel Mills website claims it's a mile around, but I bet it's a tad smaller. Or maybe it's a mile if you hug the outside but I hugged the inside of the loop, so I put down 1.9 miles. I was hoofing it the whole way without a slowdown so it was a good workout, but nice and easy on the body. Tomorrow is a rest day. Definitely can use it. KNS....I'm so happy about your mile! That's awesome. Can't wait until I join you in that club in a few months. You guys are all such great motivators. I can't tell you how much help this challenge has been as far as keeping up through the tough first few weeks of getting into this. |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Ah nice long bath .. so relaxing, haven't taken a bath in years. Might just have to make a habbit of that on off days. Everyone is rockin today. So... how does one determine a winning or losing team anyway. Like if your team meets its goal do you win/not lose. Or is it first team to get to goal or to surpass it by greatest percent. All this is new to me. Anyway keep it up gang. Hrm 5 miles in 50 min ... gona be a while for me on that one grats again. And 1 mile jog, good job on being patient and not overdoing it building up slowly to avoid injury... I'll figure that part out some day. |

LOL (Actually, the last time I checked your log, your swim times were really dropping!) I sometimes really wish I was even a little bit of a morning person so I could squeeze in something before work. But yeah, not so much. It's a good day when I wake up 20 minutes before I have to leave the house. And sadly, lunchtime workouts just aren't an option (unless shopping is a workout?) without a shower. You know, for all I moan and groan about swimming, once I'm actually in the water I usually enjoy it. Mostly a whine because I'm so *bad* at it. But the good thing about being bad at something is that there's lots and lots of room for improvement! |

Ok the winning team is the one with the highest average percentage achieved at the end of the challenge. In the event of the tie it goes back to number of team members meeting their goal. IF more than one team gets to 100% they can share the win... Im not penalising teams that get to 100% and I dont think anyone will object either! |

I am NOT a morning person... never have beem... always been the person who gets up at the last possible second and ends up dashing out the door to miss the bus... BUT... this year (especially the last few months) I have started getting up at 5-5:30, catching the bus and getting an AM workout in.... I DO have to be in bed by about 9:30 to do it though! But for example this week... I did this 4 times... At some point you want the extra training more I guess.. if I get really tired I take a morning off but even on the weekends now I cant sleep in as late as I used too... You have been warned.. if I can do it anyone can! |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread "Monster" is such a generic term are you guys like, undead monsters, shapeshifting monsters, hairy monsters, large giant monsters, small gremlin like monsters, alien monsters, reptilion monsters, nuclear waste 3 eyed mutant fish monsters, slow moving frankenstine monsters or like small children with 2 pounds of powdered sugar experimenting with mixers in the kitchen? And ... I read alot of posts about what happens when one has bad nutrition during a race... I would think that eating poison apples and then trying to run any distance would result in um well, not so much of a good outcome, especially if there are no bathrooms nearby. But, well luck with that. As for poison apples, we are just gona all be at 100% with pleanty of margin so um well bahbye. |
