Only the first month? j/k.

I had major soreness the first couple of weeks. Now I still deal with soreness, but good soreness. Some are worse than others. 6-7 minutes of Fran will take me out of the fight for a while.

I've been a CFer for almost a year now...the first month was the hardest.  I've slacked off a bit, but still do it 3 days a week or so.  I very rarely get sore anymore...although, my first Murph two weeks ago had my glutes/hams sore for 3 days.  Just redid the workout though and am not sore at all.

Keep it up!!

Today's WOD is pretty crazy...who's doin' it???

New CF participant here...ouch...this stuff hurts, especially a day or two later. Did my first session prior to Master's swim on Mon...today's pre-swim session was done under major duress due to extremely sore muscles - especially shoulders - as a result of Mon.

Today's 20 min session:

  • Farmer Walk (around indoor track, w/30lb dumbbells)
  • Lunges (20)
  • Burpees (10)
  • Sit Ups (15)
  • Rowing Machine (20 reps)

Rinse, repeat...

Hey!!! Welcome to CF! =) Nice job, Yo!

Thanks. Now if the soreness will just subside...

Question: How often do each of you do CF?

I was literally painfully sore for the first month of CF.  However, I also was doing CF five or six days a week.  Now my group does it closer to the 3 on, one off normal CF schedule.

Yikes...I'm painfully sore in the shoulders right now and sure hope it doesn't last a month!

Actually it's not the 300 squats that were scary (although the WERE hard...300 is a LOT of squats) it was trying to run a sub 7 minute mile AFTER doing those 300 squats.  I'm quite happy that I'm a forefoot runner (I use my hams/calves to run) because my quads were SHOT after 300 squats.

Um, the standard 3 days on, 1 day off = 5 or 6 days a week...

completed a modified version of today's chipper in 15:05

20 HSPU
30 pullups
40 45lb db swings
50 situps
60 burpees

like anyone but satan, I despise burpees...they took 1/2 the time of the workout...slowly I will get myself back into shape!

I did a CF workout from Crossfit Philly/Kettlebell Athletics.

10 Heavy Swings: Used a 32 kg kettlebell
1 Heavy Press L/R: Skipped
3 Moderate Presses L/R: Used a 32 kg kettlebell
5 Light Presses L/R: Used a 24 kg kettlebell
Run 400m

Yeah I skipped the heavy press. I should've tried push pressing my 40 kg. Seemed like a waste to just do one rep with the 32. Had to walk on parts of the run. As you can tell, I'm better at the strength part of CF workouts than the endurance, but I'm working on that. This was a good workout.

Oh the pain! Today I met Murph. He's mean, real mean.

Run 1 mile
100 pull-ups
200 push-ups
300 squats
Run 1 mile

It was horrible. 55:19 of beating.

The worst thing was this dude in the gym. The gym was small, like a hotel gym. This dude was on the elliptical machine next to the pull-up bar. He let out an SBD and I thought I was going to puke.

LOL!!!  That's soooooo wrong!

I had to turn on this big fan and walk to the other side of the gym. I was actually kind of pissed about it. But I had to stay focused because if you can think about collateral issues, then you're not doing crossfit!

BTW, I feel like someone kicked my butt. Murph has laid a big smackdown on me.

LOU!!!!  Nice to see you've taken the plunge. Now shut up and quit whining!!

Slacker TJ needs to get her butt back into gear ... I've taken 2 weeks off of everything and I feel like CRAP!

Where's the love, TJ!?!?  And to you, I say, get back on that horse! (that's the nice way of putting it)

Oh for the humanity!!! Today has been one heck of a day. Different body parts ache as the day goes on. I was in class and first wanted to sleep. Then it felt like someone hit me in my gut, then poked me in the back. Later it was my calves and then quads.

Now it's 10 pm and I'm working on a paper. I am having a hard time concentrating because my thighs are throbbing!

Mediocre gym day. I have a hard time doing front squats. It's hard to hold the weight on my wrists. I guess that's the point right? I only did 4 sets.

10 @ 95
10x135
8x135
6x135

15 clean and jerks at 95 lbs.

Total whooping today. I did the crosfit WOD from last week during lunch time by the pull-up bars. I felt the heat and was getting worn out. I finished my water bottle and watched the sweat pour off my head by th end. It was 2 hours ago and I'm still smoked.

30 hand-stand push-ups. (I put my feet as high as I could on a telephone pole)
40 pull-ups (broken down into 20, 10, 5, 4, 1)
50 kettlebell swings (only had a 35 lb kettlebell)
60 sit-ups
70 burpees (smoked me like a cheap cigar)

There were lots of people coming out the back door, thus I couldn't slack off. It was good though.

CF today was 7 X 1 weighted pull ups.
rep 1-kipping (no weight)
rep 2-2.5#
rep 3-5# (PR)
rep 4-7.5# (PR)
rep 5-10# (PR)
rep 6-12.5# (FAIL)
rep 7-12.5# (FAIL)

Then ran 3 miles WITH NO KNEE PAIN OR TIGHTNESS!!!  WOOT!  =

I did the weighted PU's on Monday, though my body weight was plenty of challenge.   Today's pre-Masters crossfit was:

  • 10 man-makers (these are hard! edit: heck, all of it's hard right now as my body is getting acclimated to CF)
  • 10 back extensions
  • 10 sit-ups
  • 10 box jumps
  • 1 lap around the indoor track

rinse, repeat as much as possible in 20 minutes...then go swim for ~1 hr...joy...

Nice job on yours Kiley!
