mr2tony - 2008-07-17 10:39 AM I'm a big fan of the M-series Bimmers. My problem with them is they're so flippin' heavy. If I had the choice, though, I'd rock the M6. M3s can be insanely fast but few M buyers are willing to go whole-hog on their cars, so I'd routinely bi***slap them around in the MR2 and the WRX. Sigh. I miss my cars.

Ooh, ooh! I saw an MR2 the other day - I don't think I'd ever seen one before and paid attention to what it was! It was an exciting moment. Cute car.

chadtower - 2008-07-17 9:38 AM Don't the auto auctions require a dealer's license to participate?

That's probably part of the hookup.

Gotta be. I'm not a car person. I drive a 99 Civic and am quite happy with it. The only reason I'd change that would be to get something like a Tacoma so I could move more equipment with it.

crowny2 - 2008-07-17 10:18 AM I have 20/15 vision.

GFY

I'd get Lasik, but I don't trust that in 20 years, my eyeballs aren't going to shrivel up and fall out of my head or something. Not enough long term studies on this.

Tee hee.

I actually have the same issue as Ryan.  I wear Sunglasses on cloudy days.  I have pretty good night vision.

I wonder if I'm part vampire.

I wear sunglasses year-round, and even if it's overcast. It's good to protect your eyes, even if you have good vision and your eyes aren't sensitive.

I'm the same way! People always say `Is it THAT dark out here?' I say `No.'

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of the old M hatchbacks.  I can't remember what they're called.  And yeah, you can get some decent deals on cars at the auction...especially if you're looking at top-end stuff like that.

Yeah, that's the M Coupe. I LOOOOOOOOOVE those cars. The one with the S54 (333hp) engine is still out of my price range, unfortunately.

Rynamite
Niiiice. I have a logon at Manheim (one of the biggest ones in the country) and a dealer pass. I have to fight the urge to log on to their website allll the time.

You can get some INSANE deals there if you know what you're looking for and are patient.

M3?

Yeah, the one I was at today is a Manheim auction place.

I wouldn't mind a '01-'03 M3, but if something breaks, I REALLY don't wanna have to fix it, even with my circle of bimmerfreaks. Then there's the whole rod bearin replacement issue on the early E46 M3s. If that hasn' tbeen done, you could be in for a WORLD of trouble.

I told my friend that when the time comes, I'm just gonna give him a list of cars to look for. I can think of at least a dozen I wouldn't mind owning, off the top of my head.

Yeah, Oakland, Homestead, and the Hill District are ghetto... but the rest of the city is nice.

I'm not much of a cheesesteak guy anyway. They have some kickin' steakhouses and awesome bars... so that's good enough for me.

Of course, your definition of those things are different than mine.

True.

At least we agree on good beer.

To some extent, yes.

I looooove a good cheese steak but hate peppers and onions so most of the Philly places are useless to me.

Cheesesteaks are delicious but bad. Can't remember the last time I had one. They are on my very short list of food that is tasty but I generally avoid because they provide NO health benefits and the badness outweighs the tastiness. Like pancakes.

There ARE public ones... but the prices aren't nearly as good.

Definitely not good enough to go with them over a dealer's warranty or a private sale price, especially since you can't test them.

Those are options.  You can get them without.  I never get peppers.

They make my soul happy. Meat + cheese + bread = happy me. Health benefit.

My 325i weighs right at 3000 lbs, but yah, the newer models a effin' PIGS. I think the latest M3 is around 3700 lbs. NO REASON for that. Too much gadgetry.

I would LOVE an '88-'90 M3 with an engine transplant from an '02. I've seen one or two. not exactly a cheap conversion to perform.

Last 3 times I tried I still got them. They don't clean off the grill - they just don't throw any in. So you get all the stray onions and peppers that were already there. Plus they treat you like you asked them to toss in a baby seal.

I used to be a car person, but 5 years of working at a car dealership beat that out of me.  I like the old Tacoma's, but the new ones are almost as big as a full size truck, and got almost the same mileage as my 4x4 Silverado.  I was always surprised that the import manufacturers were so quick to jump on full size trucks and SUV's and got away from their image of good mpg.  I heard two Nissan Titan owners talking at a gas station, not too long ago, talking about getting 13-14mpg average.  That's worse than Dodge.

I love the peppers and onions. I'd choose a hot sausage sandwich over a cheesesteak anyway.

Mmm...sausage with peppers and onions. And spicy mustard. I miss Fenway Park and the sausage guy.

One of my personal favorite conversions is the new Subie WRX trans into an old SVX.  I've seen pictures of it on the 'net.  That would be a fun car to have.

Back then people just said "that ain't a truck - it's a car with a truck bed on it". So you either get a truck or you get MPG, I guess.
