Beach to Battleship looks fun.

Setup runs a good race, too.  I've been pretty impressed with them.

Hello G&G

I haven't gotten a run in yet-I was going to this weekend but there was a major wind storm.  I'll see about running at school before I head to work.

Let me know if you find anything good...I am always looking for new motivation

Are you doing any Half IM's next year? Mike and I are thinking Steelhead. I may do the aqua-bike at Racine and I'm leaning toward the full Aqua-Bike at the Great Illini Tri in prep. for IMAZ (assuming I get in). Are you and the hubster still considering Apple Cider Century? And are you considering Galena Tri early in the season!?

Don't think I am ready for a HIM yet...at least not from the running point of view.

I have thought about doing a HIM or IM aquabike as it eliminates that part of the race that I am the worst at...I will have to look at Racine and Great Illini

Robert and I planning on doing the Apple Cider Century and Galena (I will do tri and he will do du)

Wow  you are going to make a go for IMAZ next year huh?  That's exciting.  I will be interested to follow your progress.

Yep. I'm going to make a go for it.

I've been busy selling misc. things on eBay to try and square away some extra cash so it doesn't hit me all at once. If only you could find an extra $575 in the couch. :sigh:

New Orleans 70.3, people.

Seriously, can there be a more fun city to party in after covering 70.3 miles?

Sign up now!

I've considered that, but for 2010.  That or Augusta 70.3.

Ooooh!! Agusta is on my radar for down the line when we relocate!

I might volunteer at the one in 2010.  I'm really only doing the one in '09 just to see what the distance is like.  I'm way more of a fan of an intense, on the verge of out of control sprint.  I think I'm gonna look into having another go at a marathon or two in the fall of '09 and early in 2010.  Probably try to sprinkle in some distance swim events, too.  There's a three mile swim in Pensacola I want to do at some point.

As for the Half's vs. Sprints...once I moved up in distance, I now find the sprints to be harder than the Half's.  Something about pacing oneself, instead of redlining the whole way, makes it easier to me.

Give me a Half any day over a sprint.  As for next year's Ironman...welllllllllllll, we'll see if my tone changes.

Is that Galic? I didn't know you guys were Irish.

I got a long run in yesterday. Then I had a double header softball game last night. It was our first of the season and our team hasn't played in a few years. So it was a little sloppy but fun none the less. This is my first year of tri training and let me tell you it was SSSOOO nice not to be dragging halfway through the games like everyone else and I am not sore the next day like I used to be. This is great. Probably another run tonight.

Priorities, man, priorities!!!  What's up with this softball stuff?  You're a triathlete.

I gave up softball after a couple (slight) hamstring pulls.  Then played my last pickup ice hockey game last year after an abdominal injury that curtailed my fall marathon training.  Guess I'm no spring chicken anymore.

Why is running getting harder and harder rather than easier? Two weeks ago I was sure I could finish my 5K in a few weeks running the whole thing and in around 40 minutes (yes I know how slow I am), but this last week has felt awful!

-It was not a happy/health tree, so I put it out of its misery.

Because training tears your body up.  In a good way, but it fatigues you and wears you down.  You only see gains when recovered, but you can't get gains if you don't train fatigued.  You've ran what, five times in the last 7 days?  You are just tired, but tired is ok if you aren't pushing to the point of injury.

I experienced this with my swimming this year.  I did a 1000 yard time trial toward the end of a four month training cycle and was 45 seconds SLOWER than the time trial I did during the first month of training.  Well, following the taper/recovery I ended up swimming the half mile about a minute and a half faster than I had ever done before.

Remember this:  It's not about being faster tomorrow, it's about being as fast as you can be on race day.

Snuck my run in between the rains today.  I love running in the rain on occasion, but I just wasn't feeling it today.  Glad it stopped for a while so I didn't have to hit the dreadmill.
