It's pretty sore today.  I didn't keep it up all that much this weekend and now it's grumpy.

Im not sure - I dont know the injury in terms of how it works... but I was just thinking... I know when Ive done various injuries... ankles, knees, wrists that having them taped, or strapped or just with a compression bandage on really helps me mentally remember to look after it...

Sounds weird but having something on it reminds me I need to elevate/not use it or whatever so I dont do something silly like go to twist a door knob with a sprained wrist or whatever...

Doest that make sense?

Makes sense to me.  I do the same things.  It is pretty easy to remember to be careful - it hurts enough.  Plus, there isn't much that I was told not to do.  No running, no elliptical, try not to take the stairs.  But, overall, I have to use it.

No.  The pool I usually use is closed because they are doing construction!  They aren't sure when it will be open again.

I use the pool at school so I don't have to pay for a gym.  They are doing construction on the building, so the pool has been closed for a little while - there was no water in the locker room or something.

There is another pool on the other campus, but it's really sketchy and kind of gross.

Evening, Nibbs!

I cooked something new for dinner last night. It was kinda icky and there were leftovers. The leftovers were even more icky. I'm so disappointed and very hungry.

(Just in case you want to NOT make it - it was chicken & swiss chard enchilada casserole from the Food Network.)

I was intrigued by the idea of swiss chard - I had it as a side at one of the wine&dine dinners, and so when I saw it at the food coop, I got some...

Then I didn't know what to do with it, so I found this recipe, that otherwise sounded really good...but the swiss chard added an odd flavor and I don't think I rinsed it well enough, because the texture was kind of... gritty. Ewwww.

It's hard to encourage the kids to eat something that I find disgusting. They were mostly polite until I announced that I thought it was gross and then they let loose with the truth.

Tomorrow I'm trying a recipe for curry butternut squash soup.

I've decided to cook my way through the off-season...and I'm also considering turning partially locavore (eating food grown locally) - I can't do it strictly, because I'd miss some stuff I really like, like really good coffee and wine.

Haha...Andy does the same thing.

Depending on your definition of local, you might get some decent wine.  We went to Afton over the weekend and got a few good bottles.  They were out of the Riesling that I really like, but they might have next year's in a few weeks.

I experimented with eating locally and in season earlier this year and I wish I did a better job of it but the one regular market I found shut down which didnt help!

Every little bit helps right? I at least make a point of not buying things like Asparagus flown in from Peru... yes seriously I saw that this weekend! I mean Asparagus doesnt taste the same within 24 hours of picking anyway!!!

Sydney is a bit nuts as there isnt really anywhere in the greater city area that grows food so its all brought in... sooo much petrol! I do make a point of buying organic/free range where possible though...

If you are really interested in it have you read Animal, Vegetable, Miracle? Ok its a bit full on and obviously they  have a massive farm to grow their own food but I really enjoyed reading it!

I'm considering getting a CSA share (if there are any available) for next year.  That'll help me eat local, eat more vegetables, and eat a different variety of vegetables.

Afton is good. Have you ever been to DelFosse (near Wintergreen)? It's run by a couple of European guys and their wine is more in the European style, but their whites (including riesling is fantastic).
