Happy Saturday all!  Got out ride done this morning.  It has not gotten out of the 30's here today so a hibernation day seems like a good idea.

Hey i know what you mean. I am so glad I got my bike in yesterday. It's windy and cold, Burrr. I met up with some people that were marathon training today. They ran a bit slower than what I would like but it was still good to meet people also into endurance training.

A slow 8.5 miles is still 8.5 miles in my book

Morning all.  It's workout Sunday here.  Have a bike, run and swim all on the plan.  Got the bike done already.  It was just an easy 45 minute spin.  When it warms up a little we have a run and a swim.  So, the plan is to park at the gym, do our run from there (hill repeats!).  The gym is only a mile from our house and is actually on the run path.  So we will run about a 4 mile loop to get to the road with the hills.  Then it's 6x2 minute hill repeats.  Then it's about a mile and a half back to the gym.

Swim is just a short 1500.

The good thing about this plan is that we are working hard to live within a budget.  With workouts like this, there is no time to go anywhere and spend money

Other than workouts, probably a trip to Walmat for groceries and then not much else!

Have a great day everyone!

Marcy - That is so true. Because of my training, I have really cut down a lot on my drinking. And boy did that save us ton of money last night when we went out with our friends.

Well! got a slow 45 min. walk in yesterday and a slow 10 mile trainer ride today. Did a little stretching yesterday and today. I feel much better and tomorrow starts my rest week.

Happy Monday 1/26/2009 all!

Had a decent weekend. Met some nice fellow trainers Saturday. The I decided to switch my off day Thursday With Sunday. My leg were pretty shot from my Friday and Saturday training and the weather sucked anyyway. So that's the way it is. Thursday I can take a spin class which will take care of my Sunday Bike untill it starts getting a bit warmer.

Today I have a 30 min run at lunch and then my swim class tonight.

Later all.

Happy Monday all!

Marcy, we seem to have the opposite problem. When the training increases, so do our grocery bills. That's probably why I haven't lost any weight through training too. The other thing that increases is our eating out expenses. Normally we don't eat out at all, but after group rides we always do. And, sometimes once during the week too because we just run out of time to cook. I try to keep it to a minimum though.

I'm back at it today, no more excuses. I started the day with a 40 minute trainer ride. It was great to sweat and get the hr up. First time since the marathon. Tonight's an off night and then it's into the pool tomorrow. I'm scared, I haven't been swimming and my last few swims were really bad. Oh well, it needs to be done, right?

Mark, I do have the same experience with the bike vs run heart rates. I haven't done an LT test on either, but my hr is always lower on the bike, even when I'm pushing so hard I feel like I'm going to die. I think the max I've ever seen it on the bike is 182, whereas running I'm regularly in the 180s and in races I hit the 190s. So, for me it's about a 10bpm difference.

Hey all!  This was a monday that lived up to it's low expectations.

I have somehow trahsed two computers in 2 days.  That must be some kind of record.  I think I have a corrupt word file.  My computer kept rebooting at random.  Sucked when it happened before you had a chance to save.  So, IT came and took my PC to figure out what was wrong with it.  I moved to an empty desk and the same thing started happening.  I am going 3 for 3 tomorrow

Slept poorly last night.  Had every intention of doing my ride before work but that extra hour sleep was needed.  Now it's late and I am exhausted.  We had a heavy weekend and decided to do a 15K this saturday so I am not too concerned.

Have a great night all!

Out running or enjoying a fine glass of red...
Subject: RE: Dodgersmom and Doughboy's Group -Full
Yeah, I disappear for days and only come back when I have a question...sorry...

So my marathon training plan calls for the following schedule:

Monday: Long run (drop back week) - 7 miles
Tuesday: Cross
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: 3 miles
Friday: 6 miles
Saturday: 3 miles
Sunday: Rest
Monday: Long run - 12 miles

I did the 7 miles yesterday (and will do the 12 next Monday), but I'm having trouble cramming in the other runs. On Thursday, I'm not supposed to exercise before my metabolic testing 'cause it will screw up the results...and my test is late in the day. On Friday, I'm at a conference for most of the day out of town - I might be able to squeeze in something here. On Saturday and Sunday, I'm out of town with my family...playing at a hotel - I can probably do a little run, but I dont' want to take an hour away from them.

So my questions: Which of the mid-week (Tuesday-Sunday) workouts is most important? (I know the long run is THE important workout, which is why I moved my whole schedule to Monday).

Happy Tuesday! I got in the water this morning for my first real swim in a long while. I thought I might not remember how to swim, but it went remarkably well! I wrote out a workout beforehand so that really helped keep me focused and moving. It was hard and my shoulders fatigued, but my times were much better then I was expecting so I am very happy about it

Hi all. Sorry to hear it's 30 in Texas. We're dealing temps in the teens and lots and lots of snow here.

Yesterday was a day off. I didn't leave the house except to step outside and get the mail. 2168 calories yesterday. I didn't feel hungry at all. whoo-hoo.

Today I had a really good swim. 3300 yards in 1:18:04. I did a bunch of drills and then swam 10x100 on the 2 minutes. I just wanted to work on form for these. They felt good, and I stayed pretty consistant b/t 1:27 and 1:35 per 100.

I'm supposed to lift tomorrow unless we get snowed in, which is a possibility.

Hi all. Sorry to hear it's 30 in Texas.

Actually it was 70 when I got to work...

But, we're going to get it (freezing rain) tonight, so I enjoyed it while it lasted. It's still nice out, but I can't enjoy it from my cube.

Howdy y'all!

Like Marcy said, North Texas is cold and lots of ice concerns thru mid day tomorrow.  Should be fun!

No outdoor activities will be done, and I do expect that our little community pool/rec center will close in anticipation of problems.

That said, it'll be a 4th day of trainer rides.  Tonight will be an interval session though.  Yummy....

I see everyone is doing well.  David found some fast water, and Erin did too!  On top of that looking at Kristens marathon schedule makes my feet hurt!

Kristen,  Just do what you can.  Life takes priority sometimes.  Have fun!

Ice Ice Baby...

Our yearly ice storm hit last night so I am forced to work form home this morning.  I will probably just stay here all day.  I am hoping that the gym will open at some point today.  I have a 30 minute ride and an 1:10 run. I really dread running that long indoors but it is not supposed to get about 40.  I would assume most of the ice will be melted by early afternoon, but I would be worried that I would be running outside and find that one patch in the shadow of a tree that is still there.  Not worth the risk of hurting myself so I will be doing it indoors.  Plan now is to split the run between the treadmill and the track.  Of course, if the gym does not open, it will be all treadmill at home.  That would pretty much suck.

If you are driving in North Texas this morning, be careful!

It's cold here (well, cold for Houston anyway) but luckily there was no rain or ice. So, it was a trainer ride this morning. Tonight I was supposed to do a short run (first one since the marathon!) and this awesome class that's women's only and works on cycling strength and flexibility. But, I just got an email that it was cancelled So, now I have to convince myself to be good and do some core and lunge work at home tonight.

Hey all. I know today was going to be a tough work day, but it is almost 6pm and there really is no way to tell when I will be getting out of here.  I know the swim will not happen but maybe, if I have enough energy I may do tomorrow's trainer ride today.

Sigh

Happy Friday all! Marcy, sorry to hear you had a tough day. Hopefully today will be better.

I woke up early for a trainer ride this morning, but now I'm exhausted. I'm traveling this weekend so it'll be a very light weekend workout-wise.

After digging out from under 8 inches of the white stuff I got into the gym today for the first time in three days. It's a recovery week so missing my workouts is not that big a deal. I swam today and then did a quick lift session. Today's weigh-in was a hair under 207lbs. Yay!

Safe travels this weekend Erin, dodgersmom, did you end up getting your trainer ride in?

Congrats on the 15K!

I spent the weekend in DC with my family - playing at the hotel and watching a hockey game. Lots of fun - not much training...but I have a 12-mile run on deck for tomorrow.
