kns57 - 2009-01-19 9:59 PM In fact, Frank cooked tonight. Sole with fennel and white beans, green beans, salad and rice pilaf. It was very tasty. Now I'm waiting for the first load in the dishwasher to finish so that I can clean up the rest. No one ran the dishwasher earlier today after the kids lunch. It does drive me nuts when there are dirty dishes in the sink. How can you work around that?

No idea.

That sounds like a good dinner.

Artemis - 2009-01-19 7:57 PM I finished knitting a dishcloth. Trying to get up the ambition to clean the kitchen. I am tired of being the one who cooks and cleans.
We have a rule in our house. Who ever cooks the other person does the cleaning up. Funny thing is, I tend to clean up as I go along. Frank tends to use every pot possible when cooking. Somehow I think I get the short end of the deal, but I'm really happy when someone else cooks so I'm not complaining.

We used to have that rule, but my husband doesn't seem to hold up his end of the deal. It's annoying. That's why I'm grumpy with him right now.

Ive been there.... with my ex... if I didnt cook we didnt eat... or it was McDonalds, Pizza or whatever was in the cupboards...

I don't really mind cooking. I mind that I'm the only one who really cleans the kitchen, bathrooms, etc. Then he gets mad if I don't want to help with crazy projects because I'm tired from cleaning.

Lol - sorry that is 100% my ex! But thats not why he is my ex of course...

Sometimes it doesn't bother me, but it's been bugging me lately.

Have you talked about it? It might just be that you have so much going on... it has been a pretty full on time for you!

Yeah...I think we just have different ideas of how to clean and the timetable for cleaning.

For me its always right after the meal. For Frank it is sometimes the next day. I've tried very hard to not let that bother me. somethings we just need to learn to live with.

Ex carries a negative implication for me...like I don't approve of the person or that they must have done something awful.  I realize that isn't necessarily the case, but it still is what I associate with the term.

My first BF-I just avoid acknowledging it ever happened.

the other one...He was young (mentioned during the sea scout conversation) and hadn't experienced enough of life.  I didn't feel like he was going to while still attached to me.  During the 2+ years I spent with him, he was never really employed.

Ironically,  After I broke it off he finished his divers certification and left for Hawaii and got a job as a commercial diver earning $32 dollars an hour.  Since then he has worked with NOAA (National Oceanography ...atmosphere...something aruther), traveling the world.  Somewhere along the way he lost my brand new Sage fly rod that I loaned him.  At least that is what I have gathered.

Jen, Frank and I had to work out a routine early in our marriage. He came with a 5 yr old daughter who lived with us full time. So, whoever wasn't cleaning the kitchen was giving a bath and getting someone ready for bed. We both had to pitch in and make it work. The cleaning up in the kitchen relaxed somewhat when he travel full time for the job, but now I do bug him to clean it that night. I will not let it sit longer, but he would if given the chance. We have had many a grumpy session at 10 pm when I mention the kitchen is not done.

just about everything has been bugging me lately

like the cold air that blasts on me whenever the furnace fans turn on.

I could fix that...but it would mean spending a weekend under the house wrapping insulation around the heating ducts.

Yah, right.  I need to finish reinsulating the attic first.

Hey, a few tips that I have really found helpful for my tris-especially to help with pre-race nerves.

OooooOOh
Your race is coming up. You will do great. Your girls will too.

Just make sure to remind them that the most important thing in triathlons (at least for most people) is to have fun, make friends, and stay injury free. It is their first tri and the gals probably don't know what their bodies are comfortable with-If someone starts to hurt she should take it a bit easier. Walking is okay!

It would be great for everyones nerves if you could do a few practice transition runs. Plus I really like to mark my transition area. I have a 12' bright yellow telescoping pole with a pair of matching pom-poms taped to the top. Naturally they are taped on with matching duct tape. I tape it on the end of the row my bike is racked on. Also have everyone go to the transition area and figure out a route to their bike.

One last thing. It really helps to go to where the swim comes out of the water and get an idea of what it looks like-if you can, swim a bit out into the water and view the exit point from at least 10 meters out...further if you can.

I have been so disoriented coming out of the water...it is a huge help to know what to expect.

It is a frickn 31 degrees out and my fingers are so frozen!  It makes typing interesting...

I got to school nice and early to do my morning run.  It lasted about 15 seconds before I very nearly fell on my bum.  The campus is covered in a combination of frost and black ice. Undecided

I will give it another go after class.
