jaxbamf73 - 2009-10-01 8:06 AM Hello TEAM!  Just entered my goal miles for the challenge.....100 miles!  Feel free to stop by my blog and give me a little motivation from time to time as I'm sure I'll need it.  I've never done 100 miles in a month and have averaged about 35 miles for the last few months.  But I have a 70.3 this weekend and start the marathon training on Monday.....

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE ON REACHING YOUR GOAL!

100 MILES!!! Now I don't feel so great about my 50. Keep up the good work, and good luck in the 70.3

that's why I go for sessions.  No one needs to know how high or low my mileage is.

ceilidh - 2009-09-30 7:00 PM Okay, really anything chocolate and stolen. It does not taste as good if it is in my fridge. It is much better if I nab it from the kids. Good thing they are in college now.

candy IS much better when stolen from the kids.

i wonder why that is exactly?

my kids are always like hey, wheres my such and such, and im like, i have no idea.....

stacieb

And you let them blame it on each other, don't you?  LOL

I'm relatively new to this whole thing, I did most of my running last year inside on a treadmill, I'd rather not do that if I don't have to. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to wear as to run outside when the weather gets colder? I'm especially concerned on how to keep my feet warm.

thanks

I know 100 miles sounds like a lofty goal, but there was some method to my madness.  I looked at the run time volume in the marathon training plan figured out how many miles that would be based on 9.5 min/mile pace then reduced that milage by about 20% to account for any missed training/fatigue issues.

As far as music goes,  The Offspring have been dominating my iPod as of late.  Amiazing how a few of the songs really help me pick up my pace regardless of how tired I am (especially Rise and Fall).

kimk - 2009-10-01 8:34 AM I am Kim and I have been doing tri's for 2 yrs. Just finished my season on Sunday with 2nd in my age! First time I have gotten hardware! I want to do a 1/2 mary the beginning of November so this run challenge will do me good! Need to still figure out my goal. Will look at the training plans here or if anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them! The longest I have ever run was a 10 mile but that was in June. I have only been doing 5k's since then. So I need to start from there. I am also a fitness instructor at the Y and need to adjust my workouts for when I teach a lot of classes.

Kim, congrats on the AG hardware!!!!

Thank you very much!!

Good morning!

Congrats - that's excellent!

Here are some running training plans that I really like - http://www.furman.edu/first/fmtp.htm

Even if you don't hit all the mileages, it will give you a good idea of how to mix up the runs between tempo, long runs, and strides to keep things interesting. Smile

Yes it is, I asked Dee to change our thread, but I haven't seen her logged in yet....maybe we should use one of her tasers on her?

Can anyone make one of those funky boxes with the team members....I can't.

layers is the one thing I recommend! I will put an under armor longsleve, then a warmup jacket/ windbreaker depending on temps and wind. also a hat and gloves...if my fingers are cold it is a tough run!  I don't have issues with the feet...they stay toasty warm!
