Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() triritter - 2010-03-21 4:53 PM What's up guys how is everyone doing? I dunno about you, but I thought spring was supposed to be here this weekend? What happened? Looks like we got winter back. We had a good training camp again this weekend. We did all the biking inside this time though and a guy actually fell over on the trainer, we almost had a group ride wreck on trainers this morning. All good fun though. Saturday morning started off with 4x1 mile repeats 5-10k "effort" since it was freezing, windy, and raining. These were some slow miles. Then a two hour base trainer session, then almost hour 15 min swim 30x100 pulls. Sunday was a 3.5 hour trainer ride, 45 min build session (super hard)and then 8x3 min very hard overgear and a 20 min around a 70.3 effort off bike. Good times...hopefully next time will be a lot better. Let me know how you all have been. Look forward to hearing from you. Hey all... I had an awesome, relaxing first half of spring break this week, followed on Thursday by an unfortunate stomach bug that I can't shake. Today I'm focusing on getting rehydrated because every time I stand up, I get a horrible, painful head rush. Lots of fun- makes me realize how lucky I am to be in good health most of the time! Hope everyone else has been taking advantage of their good health for me. :) |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I bought the bike and have no buyers remorse. It is much easier to buy things my wife wants ( although she wanted me to have this). I have been on 2 rides and I love it. How long does it take for the soreness from the base of the neck to go away? Everywhere else I am good, but damn the pain in my neck. Anyone suggest a good areo bottle set up? I have read more good things about the trek set up than profile. Patrick, if it's any consolation, I always have a stiff neck. (That doesn't sound very consoling!!) I like the Bontrager aero bottle. It fits my bars very well and I like the capacity, too. Edited by kpar 2010-03-24 5:31 PM |

The LBS asked me to come back after a month or so to recheck the fit and tighten the bike up after riding. Anthony, thanks for bringing the post back up. I like the idea of the podium quest because it carries up to 50oz and this owuld help since I am a sweat machine. I have another month before the temps hit 90 when this needs to be a done deal. |

I only run one bottle on sprints and olys and 2-3 depending on heat in 70.3s. I am looking into a fuelbelt to use on the run, at least in long training. |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have seen some set ups using a bottle holder between the aerobars. What is the easy way to do this? simple tie wraps, and a bottle holder? |

What is the easy way to do this? simple tie wraps, and a bottle holder? i think they sell an actual mount for the cage. but i suppose tie wraps or something like that could be rigged up to work. here's a link for the mounts i've seen. i've been thinking about this also. not a fan of the water bottle on the down tube like i have it now. http://www.tri-zone.com/Details.html?cat=87&item=XLTPM this one's pretty pricey, but an example. 2cents per tie wrap may would just a good. Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() http://bontrager.com/model/07189 There is the link for the Bontrager Aero Pack. I've had it for a year. I like the computer mount as it puts the numbers right in front of me aero face. It's also insulated which helps keep stuff cool(er) on hot days. The top allows fcr on-the-go refills without much splash. |

![]() | ![]() I've been keeping up the shorter training sessions better than I've been keeping up my logs... Today's duathlon was a lot of fun, but quite a challenge for me- I have ridden as far as 23 miles straight a grand total of once this year, and NEVER run more than about 4 miles in a day. It was also right next to the James river, with a lot of ravines to go up and down- the saving grace was that there was a down right before each up, and I would tuck and push a big gear to save as much momentum as possible. First time I've hit 30 on this bike! Not so much help on the running portion, though.
The duathlon was 5K/23mile/5K. My time was a blistering (for a snail) 2:45- my first run was around a nine minute mile pace, and my ride was about 14.5mph average, both fine for me. The last run went up to something like a 13 minute mile, because I was really running (ha) on empty and had to walk some hills and short stretches. Finished the last half mile at what might have been my best pace of the race, though, which I hadn't thought I had in me.
It was a lot of fun, and I learned a lot about running off the bike, transitions, and nutrition (I was the only guy there with a banana taped to his handlebars...). |

![]() | ![]() antlimon166 - 2010-03-16 7:13 AM what gives first for you guys....legs or lungs? Given today's race, it's legs for me. I only got a bit out of breath once or twice, on two uphills, one bike, one run. I actually had the most strange looking spasm/twitch take over my whole calf early in the last run, but it never turned into an actual cramp. An area the size of a tennis ball cratered in a full inch or so and bumped back out a dozen times, freaked me out a bit. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() All right, guys, I did it- I finally signed up for a couple of races. A sprint at the end of May and an Olympic-distance in mid-September. Now I just have to fill in the middle. Eeeek I'm scared! I might even sign up for a short sprint that's in a few weeks- the swim is in the pool, which would be nice for my first one, but I don't know if I'm ready, and the race is $80, which I'd rather keep considering the very large credit card bill I have coming my way after my bike purchase. But what do you think- will it be worth the 80 bucks to cut my teeth on that one? |

![]() | ![]() how did everyone's weekend go? Me and Lance got through Easter Hell weekend and only one girl had to go the ER. She turned around to look behind her and ran over something in the road and it whooped back up and hit her in the bottom calf just missing her achilles tendon. She had to get 5 stitches and she's still racing this weekend in the Gateway to Bay. |
