mchally - 2010-04-03 1:17 PM I just took my little sister and cousin to see a noon showing of How to Train Your Dragon (PG) at a nearby theater, but we had to leave disappointed...It turns out that the theater is now only 21 and over.

When I looked up the times it failed to mention that it was 21 and over.

Seriously...a noon showing of a PG movie???

I guess when they remodeled they built bars in all the theaters.

That sucks...and is kind of stupid...

Hope you still get to take them! I went to see it last night, and LOVED IT!! I want my own dragon!! Its actually quite funny for us older people...I think I found it funnier than the little kids in the theatre...Alot of jokes that are just above little kids heads I think!! The animals' emotions are priceless!

That's what I've heard about this movie too.  I can't believe it totally snuck up on me.  I hadn't even heard anything about it until my neighbor told me how much they liked it.

TElenor - 2010-04-03 1:39 PM Hi everyone!  I am so sorry for taking two days past April 1 to get back on BT.  So far I've read through just the first page of posts and have...it looks like another 17 or 18 more to read through to catch up!  Before I do that, though, I thought I should probably get on the bandwagon and at least introduce myself.

Name: Nell
Age: 26
Location: Northern New Hampshire, and enjoying the first really nice weather of the year.  However at some point between now and August I'll be moving out to Colorado to start a PhD program.  This is causing problems with my racing schedule.
Tri Experience: 2nd year, I just did one sprint tri last year and LOVED it!  Can't wait for more.  I'd like to do at least two sprints and one oly this year.
2010 remaining races: Well, this is interesting.  I'm not sure when I'm moving (see, Location) so I haven't been able to sign up for any races.  Potentials: BlackBear Duathlon in May, Eastman Splash Mash and Dash in June, something somewhere in July/August, and an Oly in Boulder in September
Words you live/train by:  I'm built to sprint, so on the long bikes and runs I repeat the following over and over "Long and Strong, Long and Strong, Long and Strong".  Somehow it keeps me going.

Nice to meet all of you!  Now I'm going to get caught up on posts.

Welcome Nell.

Seemed like a long day today.

Got up extra early for my ride since I forgot some stuff at work and had to pick it up prior.  It was raining all morning, but cleared up just in time for our ride...the ground was pretty much dry except for a few left overy puddles.

I meant to do a brick, but forgot my shoes, so I just went to starbucks where I knew another group would be after their ride and hung out for about an hour to kill time before my softball game.  By the time I got home I was beat.  I turned on the Duke/West Virginia game and fell asleep through the WHOLE THING.  I didn't even see the tip off.  But I suppose I needed that...didn't get much sleep last night.

After a very long night of trying to sleep through the dang neighbors barking dog, I managed to crush my goal of a 9 min/mile pace at my 10k race this morning! This was a very emotional race for me for several reasons...1)I was scheduled to do this one last year but didn't because my Mom passed away so I knew that doing it this year would be somewhat of a memorial race for me and 2)This is my last race here in Hawaii. I am so very happy about my time and did, in fact, spend a lot of the race thinking of my Mom!
Here is my RR for those interested (its short and sweet...at least MY version of short and sweet)!

yogachic - 2010-04-03 12:49 PM Happy Saturday, A Team!!

So I got my 15-miler in this morning in spite of the wind & rain!  Brrr, I was soaking wet and chilled to the bone by the end of my run. . . Ringing water out of my socks and 3 layers of moisture-wicking shirts!!  Of course, it stopped raining the second I got done with my run Frown

I'm headed to my folks' house this afternoon, so I'll be relaxing for the rest of the day until I head out there.

That makes me feel better about my 11.5 mile run this morning.  I didn't realize it was even windy until I started heading back. Then I wasn't too happy that I left my outer layer by a fence about 2 miles into my run.  It wasn't raining and it wasn't 15 miles so I won't complain. Except my shoulders are starting to hurt on my long runs. That's pretty sad when I come home from a long run and the only part that hurts are the shoulders.

well at least you know what to watch for then while you run...just give the arms a little shake every mile or so. I think long and tall....run pretty!

I had the best day yesterday! The sweat training with Lauren and Tri Faster was tooooo much fun! We did a lecture first then onto the scale, into the pool for a 45 min swim...I so wish I could remember laps! I want to know how far I went! I felt great in the water. then onto the scale again (have I mentioned I hate the scale?) then Lauren did some math to figure out our sweat rate Mine is 1#/hour or 16 oz of fluid that I release during swimming, then into our bike clothes, I just wore my tri-suit the whole time, so onto the scale again, then on the bike for 1 1/2 hours keeping our HR in z2 and 3. 1.34 #/hour or 16oz/hour for the bike(Lauren lead a great class, gave pointers for while on the rd and also how to train more efficient on the trainer during the winter.  Then onto the scale again. transition to the run, on the scale then for a run it was supposed to be 40 min but we got a late start, I wasn't paying attention to my time and should have gone for a full 30 min but stopped at 28min! 2#/hr or 32oz for the run! I sweat a lot!!! Not that I didn't know this but didn't realize how much more I should be drinking.  It was a great training and I felt great through it all, makes me feel better for my longer races! Followed the training with great family time at the Bucks game!

Challenge Standings:

I went to the spreadsheets, in order to give you a first week challenge update. But a lot of people haven't entered their goals yet.

So, no update today. Instead, I'll go work on my taxes. Bleh....

As for the SECONDARY (Post Padding) Challenge, well, I think we already know which team is going to win that one.

If the teams want new names, let me know. (Or, if you want to keep Team A and Team B, that's OK too.)

Good Morning A's

I am making some Bfast before heading to Church.

I am going to have Easter Dinner with the BF's family today.   He told me that it is unprecedented that his mother invited his GF to a important family get-together, especially considering I only met the guy 9 days ago.

I'm Special.

Happy Easter!

Got a 40k + road ride in right after the egg hunt.  It was really windy out here today as a new storm system is coming in off the ocean.  Wind blows, pun intended!  I had a nice 28 mph average for the first 10 miles with the wind at my side.  Once I turned, I had a head wind for roughly 14 miles that crushed me down to 17 mph.  Ouch!  Oh well, it's all training....

We're getting close to the start of race season!  Does anyone have races this month?

I'l be racing in the Sea Otter XC race for sure.  I can't make my mind up if I want to travel to Vegas for the XTERRA Western Regional Championships.  No easing into the season if I decide on that one.  It will have competitors from across the US.

May will definately be busy.

Hi Michelle!

I lived out in CO for about 8 months a few years back, so I know that I really like it out there too.  However I grew up in New England and probably will always be an east coast girl in the long run.  I'll be living in the Front Range area, but where exactly depends on where my SO finds a job.  Right now we're keeping our fingers crossed!

Also, just to add in my Easter activities: my SO and I did a great ski tour up Mt. Washington today.  We did two laps on an area called Gulf of Slides, which meant we did 5600 ft of vertical total!  Each step, particularly towards the last big uphill effort, I kept thinking "this is going to be GREAT for my tri endurance!"  It definitely made the pain a bit more manageable.  Now I am both sunburnt and quite tired.  However after a day off I think I'll be ready to really start digging into my April goals!
