Kelly, please tell us you are happy with that?  That is awesome.

Could you also tell me what the AG nationals? Do you have to compete in another Tri event you didn't plan on doing???

Umbilocal Hernia Update:

I had my surgical consult.  apparently umbilocal hernias are actually abdomenal fat that presses through, not intestine like groin hernias.  basically the doctor said dont bother doing anything until after race season, at the earliest, and unless it bothers me there is no need for surgery.  He said there is no issue with a medical emergency as can occur with a groin hernia if the intestine "gets stuck".  at worst if the fat "gets stuck" its just hurts and you get the operation sooner.

Side note: as the doctor was examining my belly button he said have very stong abdomenal muscles "with good formation." I suppose that is a complimental, however, since the doctor was another dude i found it pretty funny, only the type of thing a doctor would say.

That is same thing I have and I am pastponingsurgery until after race season as well

I have been among the missing last week due to the conference I was in charge of. I am free, free, free!!! It is done and went extremely well, but really messed with training last week. But our weather sucked (not like the south though) with snow or bitter wind almost every day. It is supposed to be warmer all week-Yeah. Congrats to you Kelly on your race and qualification. I did not keep up on posts for the week and am too far behind in everything to go back-but hope you all had a great week. I am ready to hit hard in the final weeks before my first Tri

Signed up for a local 5k that supports our animal shelter with some friends.  No intention of really running this, but actually walking it with my friend.

Well, that went right out the window after the start . . . . AND A PR for me.  Unofficial 31:47!!!!  I know it doesn't sound very fast, but that is about 2-3 minutes better than my best 5k!!!!  I don't run 10:15's, but TODAY I DID!!!  There is hope

Hope everyone had as good a weekend

(P.S. Hip is still very sore, but stretching and rolling seems to be making it better)

well, since it was cold and windy here...and then it SNOWED...I went to the gym and did some treadmill and stationary bike work today.

I can't believe there were flurries on May 1st...happened last year on May 2nd too! Glad I haven't switched over from my heater to the swamp cooler yet.

Finally settled into my new house and have been out exploring the city by bike, riding along a river is quite different to the beach but its just as scenic =)

Went for my first swim this morning at the new pools, I didnt realise the outside 50m was heated so i jumped into the 25m which just felt kind of awkward (only ever swum in the 50s before), as i was leaving though i asked about the 50 and it is heated so will give that a go on Wed.

This pool is a lot further away than my old pool (which was basically next door), so I i may need to shower and go to work from the pools...which got me thinking....

What do you all pack in your swim bag?

Actually nothing.  I have a locker at my pool.  But, when i swim at the beach its: suit, googles, water bottle, towel, contact lens stuff, cap and wetsuit (at the pool id forego the wetsuit and cap).  If you are doing a long swim, i'd throw in a snack for post swim.  If your workout calls for them and your pool doesnt have them, kick board, pull buoy, fins, paddles.

Very idiotic move by me this morning. Got up at 4:55, checked phone for weather, and it said 31 degrees. But by 6 it was going to be 41.  Ok, perfect. Leave house on bike at 5:35, and froze my n*t* off for 18 miles. I had to cut my route way shorter than planned.  I couldn’t feel my feet, my arms, and my quads. I thought I dressed for it.  Apparently not.  My legs still hurt, and am still cold.  I guess doing a road ride at freezing temperatures is not the same as running in that weather.  I should’ve just ran.  Ughhhhh.

But, I got a new photo.  I usually don’t stop, but this was a nice pic.  Although, taken with the phone is not that great. It’s so nice to ride in my area.  Nothing but awesome views and rolling hills! Look how big the sun is.

Good weekend of training, did a 50 mile bike ride and then a 3 mile run Saturday, then went and ran 10 miles on sunday, my longest run ever and first run in double digits!!!

also had a TT with my tri group on Saturday at the end of the ride, i won the TT (and a d&d gift card) with a time of 7m10s for 3.31 miles, that averages out to 27.7 mph average on my road bike!!!
