I just upped my goal from 80 to 90 miles. You're not going to just coast in for the last 1/3rd of the month, are you?

I need two for my goal. I have never run 50 miles in a month. I am a big fatty!! Sandbagging is often a term used by those on the losing end of games. I use it with my seven year old when we play h-o-r-s-e in the driveway!!!

And this is why the challenges RULE! I've never run 90 miles in a month but I'm having such fun doing this challenge I might just top 100.

If you run two miles a day every day for the rest of the month, you'll go over 60. Just hanging that little carrot out there for you.

Speaking of challenges, since you live in Rochester, you should join the crummy weather challenge. You'll be mucking through the slop just like the rest of us Northerners. Join us for some fun, won't you?

Just put up another 3 today!  That takes me to 30.5, so have 5.5 more to go.  I don't think I have ever run 30 miles in a month before!  Woohoo!  This challenge has definitely kept me motivated.  I should meet my goal on Monday.

Good job to everyone that has met their goal or is very close!  We are going to win this thing!  Great job team!

Hi,

Im just writing a note here to get feedback regarding those people affected by the fires in California as Mother Nature is an unforeseen circumstance that we could not have planned for with this challenge.

They way I see it there are 3 groups:
- Those evacuated due to fire risk
- Those whose running is affected due to smoke in the air
- Those who are working as part of the fire fighting crew

I have some ideas on how we can address this but the key suggestions are:
- Let another team member or members pick up their mileage in the next 7 days (this only counts from miles run from today)
- Allow for goal reduction based on planned workouts for days affected due to fire fighting or evacuation (has to be a fair way to do this, if you committed 50 miles and have only run 10 miles to date dont try and tell me you were going to run 40mile in 7 days!!!)

Those affected by smoke can use the gym or elliptical or treadmill to meet their goal OR if you do not have access to these facilities the above will apply.

Please let me know via PM or in the team leaders thread anyone affected and what you want to do ASAP as the end of October is almost upon us.

Please stay safe
Cat

Sailing - Since you are team captain, I would like to leave this decision to you.  I am fine with either decision to make up miles or let the other teams reduce if they are impacted by the fires in CA.  I think most of the folks on our team are in good shape.  This is just my $.02.  Anyone else have a strong opinion one way or the other?  I just want everyone to stay safe.

I completely agree. I am just happy that those folks are safe. Whatever we can do to pick it up, or the decision that the Captain makes is good with me!

Ok, so I have to say thank you to my wife excited2tri for getting me into this challenge. By the end of the month I will not only set a PR (just as excited2tri will), but tonight I set a new PR in 4.6 miles at one sitting.....or shoudl I say standing.    :-)

Go Team LD for staying on top!!! We rock!!!!

(And the Cheerleader's said)   "Try, try, try as you may the Living Dead will lead the way!"

Saling4 what ever you think is fair as far as the fires.  What a shame, we are actually going to San Diego next month, my son is in a study at UCSD.   I decided not to add to my goal because it would only be a few miles anyway, I am still trucking along on my rehab plan and it seems to be going smooth! Adding more running time tomorrow!

Great job team!

got another two miles in today, slower than sin but i got em. only 6 1/2 to go . i have to say that if it wasnt for being on this team i would not have ran today, i would have came home from work plopped my butt on the couch and complain to the wife about work. instead i changed into some shorts and ran, err slogged, stumbled crawled along.

and on a more serious note, my brother in law, wifes bro, is on his way to cali to help fight the fires.

Great job 1for1 and to both of you for PR.

Tritwin:  Good plan not to push it.  Slow and easy continues the game.

Comet:  Great job getting the shorts on and slogging it out the door.  I am sure the coach and your wife thanks you.  You didn't complain about work when you got back, did you?

with regard to the california wildfires impacting challenge goals - i'm okay with all three options that kaqphin suggested. safety first of course.

my own sister (mosc26) has had to evacuate from her home - the impact of that is far-reaching to her life, let alone the obstacle it presents to her daily fitness routine. if you get a chance, drop by her blog and send her some BT love Jannie's blog

far be it from me to let the possibilty of changing my avatar to something embarassing keep me from understanding that lives are at risk.

Let's all hope that he will be safe.

Regarding the goals for persons in California that are in the line of or near the fire, I would say that it would be no problem that they should be allowed to have accomplished their goal now, or we can contribute additional miles on their behalf.

Comet is on fire! You better smoke your kid's team. I never let the kids win. I block every shot they take in driveway basketball too. I know that the day will come when they will kick my butt, but not without a fight
