ok dino.  here you go.  sorry i've been very busy.    ha!!!!!

Ha is right, you trying to convince us your busy?  Even without any IM training?  .....

i don't think we can equate wetsuits to disc wheels.  we see two peeps up here already saying they'll walk if MOO isn't legal.  (please don't tell em i said this but i think both of em are full of it because both of them are will rock 2.4 with or without a wetsuit

rules, if its a usat race then the rd's don't make the rules.  check out section 1.4 in the usat rules.  and btw if you do ever have a question you can't get answered about their rules, give the head honcho over at usat a call.  charlie's number is on the site or i have his cell if you need it.

Agreed ...... especially the part about Minnow and KT## kicking the cr4p outta MOO.  Can't wait to see them before the swim and cheer them on the course!

how do we make it safer, dunno.  forums like this mg are a great place to start, when new folks come around and ask questions we can hopefully help them make a safe(er) decision.

This is really the question!  Wave starts?

i think we're agreeing on a lot here.  i just want to see you go sans wetsuit and beat up all the dudes wearing wetsuits.  that would make me smile.

We will see what the weekend brings!  Going by the rules 4 sure.  The RD pushes for and gets a lot of 1st timers at this race, so they may do the Block of Ice on the end of the line with themometer trick!  Laughing

and the most important thing is getting lost in all of this, that'll teach you to bust out the john daly questions on me!!!!   you're rockin' this for jeff.  AWESOME!!!!!!!!

Just for you, and from your favorite reference source.....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Daly_(drink)

And your right, this one is for Jeff ...... keep digging!

http://www.grgblaw.com/bio/JeffreyKaufman.asp

Oh .... and I terp'ed it on purpose.   Thanks Linda!

Welcome back Trev.  Love the picture.  Now go swim 5000 meters!

great news about your pops andre!

dan if you can hold a beer still than all is good.

200 is the number of times a day i think about you suz.

doug you can't spell,  thats news to me.  glad you had a good swim!

and that mg when we had 400+ posts was cut short by marmadaddy due to server issues.  so it really went on another 100+ pages.

jayne, we really need to get together.

ONLY 200? Smooch!

Today was not a great work day (YES, I WORK PART TIME!!!!!), my employer, SC Johnson replaced it's AOR. As part of that shift, I'm losing the media agency I love and a very close colleague for the last five years.  We were an unbeatable team and he will no longer be around in 90 days.  Crap, crud, bummed.....I guess the silver lining is I am still employed.  Forging on....

19 miles DONE...the longest since IM last September!!  Woo-Hoo!  Went pretty well too.

No Racing for me, but I'm participating in the Dairyland 2.4m swim on the IM Course on Sunday (assuming the lake is swimmable).

No racing for me this weekend.  Tomorrow will be a tough day for my Kris and her mom...burying her fathers ashes.  Hopefully it will bring a little bit of finality (is that a word?) to the "events" surrounding his passing and help everyone to start focusing on the good memories.  In general they are doing well, just have good days and bad days as expected.

After that, we head to Long Island.  The kids are spending the week at a beach called Kismet on Fire Island with my family.  Kris and I will spend 2 nights then back home for a little time without the kids (working unfortunately but will have some good QT in the evenings).

Good luck racers.  Be strong and be safe!

i knew it.  you're avatar was the giveaway.

tell kris to hang tough.

That is only a very small part of Fire Island!

all is good.  Both hands are still okay for holding beers.  Heck, I'm pretty sure I could drink a can of beer without using my hands.

Glad to hear your dad's ok AndreSorry about the work thing SuzyI'm hoping to start running again Tuesday, been feeling pretty good and refreshed this week; Maybe I was overdue a running break?John and Dino's discussion is interesting...Most of the ocean swims here are too warm for wetsuits but I've noticed more and more people wearing them anyway - they can take part but don't get a time.I'm not a great swimmer and for me part of the appeal is challenging myself and taking myself a bit out of my comfort zone. I tend to think if you're not up for the challenge then go and train a bit more. What Suzy says about epilepsy and safety make a lot of sense though and she's done the training anyway.

John, just to be clear, I never said I would walk if MOO was not wetsuit legal. I stated that I would decide what to do based on the rules and at what temperature I felt I could best swim 2.4 miles in. 88f, no. 83,84, questionable in a swimsuit, therefore impossible in a wetsuit, due to how I overheat. Maybe this is something I could acclimate to with a few swims, I don't know. David, how warm is the ocean where you swim? 80-82 is the warmest I have swam in Hawaii, and while doable, I get pretty hot, head starts hurting...79-80, probably too hot for me in a wetsuit, I would definitely go swimsuit, especially if I have the same overheating issue in my sleeveless. I know I am a slow swimmer, but I am confident in my training and that i will be able to make the distance, same as i am sure Suzy is sure, but I don't have the same health concerns or prior near drowning history as Suzy. I appreciate the apology, I actually didn't take what you said personally, but i do think it is up to each athlete to decide what they should do. I also think that I don't want to think or hear about it until race week. I will have a plan for each scenario, and be prepared the best I can for whatever it happens to be. Mlylt, too.

Skinny, thanks for finding that.....  a framed copy of it hangs on my wall by my desk.

Enjoy the weekend Peeps.  Up in the northwoods .....  & they don't have much use for these computer things up here, so outside the coffee shop, there is not much access!

Hi all! Congrats to all the racers I've missed and good luck to anyone racing tomorrow! Sorry I've been gone for awhile. My youngest daughter, son-in-law, and baby grandson were up from Louisiana for a visit, so I've been a bit preoccupied. :-)

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Ugg. Cut my ride short today at 100k.

Been riding for 3-4 years now. Had never had a flat until last week at camp. Had flat while riding, and then a slow leak overnight. Both on back tire.

Today, out riding. Flat on the back 10k into ride. Then, 80k flat on the front. Decided to call it the ride. Ran out of tubes, and Co2. Tires are getting a bit worn, and since its 4 weeks off from the race, heading the LBS for tubes,co2, tires, and new brake pads. Pads seem to wear out quick.

Hope I'm getting all the bad flat mojo out of my system now.
