Here I am:

July's totals:
Bike:33h 27m  - 855.82 KM
Run:17h 27m 54s  - 150.38 KM
Swim:9h 14m 19s  - 24250 M

Trevor...you have turned into a freaking animal.  Nice Job!  Gotta like that KM measurement, but even with my minimal knowledge of the metric system, still looks pretty impressive.

OK so I have my final and longest race of the year coming up on Sunday and I have no game plan! It will be my 1st Olympic and I wanted to set a goal time for myself but I dont know what is "realistic" I am thinking trying to go for sub 3 hours. Thoughts? The only thing I do know that I will do is take it easy the 1st 5K of the run and go balls out the last 5k.

I'm totally different.  I usually build it bottom up.  What do I think I can swim, bike and run...add it all together to see what's realistic. Then if you hate that number figure out how to goose up your already stellar run.  Oh and there are always the transitions, but we all know I am BOP when it comes to those so I rarely factor those in.  Good luck!

I'm no expert but I think it's obvious you're going to smash the run and you're going to need to improve your swim.

With that in mind I'd be aiming for a steady relaxed swim concentrating on keeping good form and relaxed breathing and just get that bit done, then hammer the bike, then just do your thing on the run (which is better than anyone else's thing...!).

I made it under 3 hours on my first Oly so reckon you'll have no problem. Good luck!

Just found out I'm in starting in the absolute, very.last.wave. at my HIM.  Wave 17.  I could not be any more upset.  I am so afraid I'm going to finish and everything will be packed up.  I feel so defeated already and I haven't even begun.

I do not understand your comment. You have significant bike miles and a great run total. I have not run that much in a month in over a year (:-() Could you use more time in the water? Yes, but that is a very respectable month and you should be proud and NOT denegrate it!

Time for a little slap upside the head!  You cannot focus on what you can't change.  You can focus on having a strong swim, a well managed bike and the run/walk you've been practicing.  Once you get out there you will see plenty of people that started a long time before you still slugging it out.  I was mid Wave in Racine and when I was on my second loop of the run there were still people coming off the bike.  They were psyched to be finishing that portion and to hit the run.  At this stage of the game it is not only about your physical game, but your mental one as well.  I told myself that a few weeks ago and have been slowly working on the mental aspects of a strong race.  DO THE SAME!

not at keiths race.  to show you, i went and pulled last years results.  picked a time of a person that really took advantage of the day.  went and looked up her pics.  voila.

look closely. nothing is packed up.  the chute is still there.  the announcer is still there. SHE IS SMILING.  and that clock reads 9:09.

the stuff being packed up is NOT something should be thinking about.

You guys are right.  I'm not usually one to dwell on these kinds of things.  Just a shock realizing its possible for some to finish THREE HOURS before I cross the line.  Regardless I AM excited, and I WILL be putting a 70.3 sticker on the back of my car when I DO finish... whenever that may be.

Ok you found me out! Here is the REAL run section of my race report:

After running 1.2 miles in my special red speedos' my shoes were soaked and I tripped and fell in the ocean. Immediately some well-endowed female lifeguards came to my "aid!" As I struggled Pamela Anderson bent over me and I thought I was saved. However,  all she and the other girls did was pour water on me! I sputtered trying to talk and tell them to stop but could not get a word out. They kept saying "be sure to keep his blow hole wet!" To me that sounded like a great idea until I realized they thought I was a beached whale and tried to push me into the water.

I told them I already did the swim and bike portions of the race and to leave me alone. They were stunned to meet a talking whale (They are not the brightest folks). Well, I got up and struggeld on, losing my shoes in the process.

When results were published I was DQ'd for 1) receiving outside assistance, and 2) carrying a float through the whole race. Go figure. I was so mad I got in Kitt, my talking car, and drove home ;-)

Well played Doug.  That is funny!

Christina... A few have chimed in, but it is VERY IMPORTANT to go into your race with the right mind set.... It's a long tough day, BUT you are ready.  Don't worry about what others are doing, or what time you start.....

Hey MG Peeps. While Linda (Havin' Fun) is probably too modest to tell you this, or she does not know it, she is in first place in the women 40 and over category in the Finish Strong Series Points race! She has 2460 points for three races so far. She raced this past weekend and took 14th OA so I am sure she added to her lead. 2nd place in that category has: 1656! And in case you were wondering the top woman under 40 has 2438 in three races.

So Linda is 4th OA! Third has 2776 in three races, 2nd has 3126 in 4 races, and 1st has 3411 in 4 races.

You need 5 races to qualify for the series championship. Linda is scheduled to do the Washington 1/2 on 10/29 so she will qualify!

Oh and one other thing....I found them!  I found slow and silly on my 101F run today.  They were there all along, just hibernating since last year's IM!  Very excited to have them back.....

Play around with this calculator for a little bit, it should help you set a REALISTIC GOAL for your race using your known training paces.  You can enter your race distances and then either your pace or time and it will calculate the missing part of the equation. It also gives some room to enter the "Skinny times," known outside the MG as transitions, to help you figure out where some paces need to be to reach a certain race goal.  For example, your 3 hour mark stated earlier.

Also, remember that if it is hot, it will slow your pace on both the bike and run.  Maybe significantly!

Congrats, Linda!  You are amazing, so happy for you!

Suzy, congrats on finding those legs, 101F, holy moly.  Congrats on the other thing too.    I'm talking about the house!  silly.

Doug, wow, did you really forget about Yasmine Bleeth???  that was pretty funny, guess she was "running and running and running" while the rest of the gang were saving you.

Christina-you will be absolutely fine.  Everyone gave great advice, can't stress about things out of your control.  There are some good things about being in the last wave, like lots more chances of passing others than being passed.  And easy to find your bike in T1!

I managed to somehow hyperextend my left knee on Sunday, and have no idea how I did it.  I wonder if it was carting all of that food to the race site!!!

It feels awkward to walk, doesn't affect me on the bike, I am pushing off the wall with my right leg instead of both legs.  It felt fine to run this morning.  Weird!  I iced it and it feels mildly better, but I must have been worried about it because I had a dream that I was trying to get to the starting line of a running race and I was not able to move my legs!  Or find my special hat.  Ugh.  I hope the dreams are not starting yet.  It's too soon!
