Do the pros who race without power go by HR or RPE? I guess we can only speculate.

Hope Reagan feels better soon, Scott! I have a couple sick kids right now too, and it's no fun at all.

Of the top 15 at Kona it appears only 5 didn't have a power meter.  I assume if they have it, they use it.

The majority (but not all) use a power meter.

Heck at this point most of my friends have Quarqs and Q-rings and ride by power.

uhcoog - 2012-11-14 12:13 PM So Reagan, the 5 year old, has been home since Monday from school.  Take her to the doc today and she has Scarlet Fever.  Sigh.

Chrissie always seemed to keep it simple. She's just gifted (assuming she didn't dope) and probably was better just going by RPE.

Low cadence intervals on the bike this morning.  I had to get up at 4:40 to get it done, so I know I'm going to be struggling this afternoon.

Everyone in my house is sick except me.  LOL  I started to get a cold last weekend and felt pretty crappy, but I must have fought it off.  Then I started to get the stomach bug that my daughter is struggling with right now, but I must have fought that off, too.  I'm drinking 40-50 oz. of water a day, my diet is clean and spot on, and I added in some citrus fruit.  My body is working hard!!!  Now I have to help make all my little ones feel comfortable (colds, coughs, sore throats, stomach bugs, etc.).

Hey Jen, sounds like my family. Hope your family starts feeling better soon. It is draining helping them and still getting your workouts in I am sure. Same thing happens in my family all the time, but Lord helps us if I ever get sick because I am a big baby then

Its so sad we even have to say this about athletes.

Some athletes like to go by feel no matter what.  Its all about what work for you.

I can actually say that I don't suspect most pro triathletes of doping.  There are several buckets that most dopers come from and triathletes don't tend to fit into many if any at all.

Good luck. Hopefully the doctor's are able to find some course of action. I was dealing with ITBS part of the summer and it sucked so if you're dealing with that daily it has to blow.

I was one of the few that didn't believe Armstrong doped, and would never have suspected Chrissie.  But someone pointed out that she just stopped at the top of her game and put doubt in my mind.  It is kind of odd???

IDK.  I listened to her give a talk in the Village at IMTX last year.  She doesn't strike me as the stereotypical athlete.  She has a ton of other interests that honestly it sounded to me like she placed before triathlon.  Odd?  Yeah, but she strikes me as odd.

I was one of the few too, Karen.  I believe people are innocent until proven otherwise (but also realize that guilty people aren't always proven guilty).  I like to believe that Chrissie is an amazing athlete.  Maybe she's looking at having children in the near future?  Is she mid-30s?  IM training (pro) and pregnancy are incompatible, IMO.
