Ok, I just clicked the button to register for THIS race (50mi).  And then I read the following note on the race website:

"There are no formal qualifications for the 100 mile a nd 50 miles races, except good judgment on the part of runners, as to their fitness level for this event."

Good Judgment?  hahahahahahahahahaha

The deciding factor was that I will have a running partner on race day.  The same woman that I ran the 50k race with last spring is going to run the 50 mi. with me next April Laughing.  Usually, like Kim, I prefer to train and race alone, but for some reason I feel very relieved to know there will be someone there to hear my whimper.

Oh, I would love to hear from those of you who have done deep water running.  There's no way I will be able to do the running volume most training plans call for (70-80mi/week) without injuring myself.  I'm going to cross train and do some water running to hopefully build volume without hurting myself.

Julia, are you in???  You know you want to Wink

Nope! The timing doesn't work for me, and I'm not sure 50 mi. is something I need to do right now. I'll be running Eagle Creek with you in January, though! Good luck with the training, I'm sure you can do it!

Is it possible another week has flown by?  who is itching to race this weekend?  tell us about it!!

For those of us not racing, what is the one different, crazy thing you're going to do in off season that you've never done before?

I can't read that, but I assume it says the same thing as Kyla's translation. Good luck Jayne, Christina, Dino and Kyla, Steve and Ryan!

Melissa - Congratulations on a great first marathon! I think I was happy at the end of a marathon once, but mostly I was just happy that it was over. They're exhausting, and the last few miles are always mentally tough, at least for me. You did great.

Tiana - I hope you're feeling better!

My crazy offseason thing = swim meets! Technically, that's not something I haven't done before, but my last swim meet was like 500 years ago so close enough!

I don't know what crazy fonts you're using, Suzy, but I feel like you are sending secret messages that we have to decode. (I need one of those rings too, Dino!) If I change the font then I can see what you are writing. But this past one looked Greek, like honest-to-goodness Greek.

In any case, I posted the translation here so those who are challenged like I am can see what it said.

Have a great weekend, peeps!!

That's weird. I randomly pick new fonts and the last two have been duds.  They are on BT which is puzzling.

To our east coast friends, hang tough. Sounds like it might be a rough ride for some of you.

Given your training are you sure you're up for that?  10x1 with 1' walk? Hmmm.

I did survive it Suzy!!!

Linda - There were only 5 people out last night for it. It was good though. Really motivated people!! The actual clinic is every friday night with a chat and then run. Sunday morning and wed. evening are the other 'group' runs. their goal race is to run the Resolution Run 5k on New Years eve. I'm thinking i may run another one after new years as I bet there will be WAY more peole signed up.

I just wanted to do this as a pay it forward type thing. But i get a sweet discount at the store while I'm instructing, and I get a few bucks for every 'student' I have.

Had a good run yesterday.  27:49 for my 5k.  I finished 4/14 in my ag.  Not long ago, I was at the bottom of the ag at my races.  Coming along. Now, back to the LSD on the trails.

Hubby had a PR for his HM.  1:38:07.  He won his ag and finished 9th overall.  BEAST!!

Good luck to all the Ultra Hill runners this morning......

Details......     So, I got crashed out of my CX race yesterday morning by a slower lapped rider that I just passed.  2 spokes out of my back wheel (tubulars so now I gotta unglue the tire to replace, etc.), derailleur went into the back wheel taking out the spokes, bent the derailleur hanger and somehow bent the skewer bad enough it had to be cut get it out the wheel.  Worst part was I was in a great position for most of the race, actually using my head correctly, I had great legs, and could have really shut the door on the points standings with a good finish.  Then to top it off I twist my ankle on a rock during my 5k run back to the pits.

My ankle felt and seemed fine, so I borrowed a bike from a teammate and raced the 2nd race ....  in costume, on bike that was 2 sizes to small and I didn't want to mess with his fit so I left seat height alone.  Kind of felt like I was riding a clown bike but I still finished in the top 20 on pure adrenaline.  Then about 2 hours later, my ankle starts to swell and it hurts to put any pressure on it.  Elevate, Ice, etc. all night and it is tender and a little swollen this morning.....  but I believe will be race worthy by Sat if I take it easy.  As they say, that's Cross racing.

Then the Badgers go a cough one up to Sparty in OT?  WTF?
