Good morning All. I am back from my 1 week off.

Got a swim done in the morning (350 yds). Pretty much sucked, my breathing was not good at all. Definitely need to get more practice in for swimming. I have been trying to look for some master's classes in the area, but there doesn't seem to be anythign around here.

Plan is to hopefully get a 35 min walk/run in at lunch. We'll see how that goes. We have a gym here at work that I have never tried before. I brought my work out clothes, may be today will be the day I get to try it out. I am not typically a lunch time workout person, but trying to come up with a regimen that works better for my lifestyle, so I am trying to change my all in the evening regimen to see how I can make it work better for me.

 Happy Monday All

Hey all. I'm back at it. I don't know, for some reason I just kinda hit the training wall or something. I'm not sure what it was but for the past 4 or 5 days, it seemed like I just made excuses for myself everytime it was time to get out there. Well today is a good day for a fresh start. Hopefully I can keep it going for a while now. And maybe it will start getting warmer to help things out.

Anyway, for today I got my 45 min run in at lunch. I am enjoying getting back to basics and doing straight zone 1-2 training. A beautiful day for running to. Just a little windy but great weather otherwise. It's nice not feeling like I'm pushing myself to hard.

Tonight I have my swim. Probably will be in the 3000 meter range.

Didn't get the run @ lunch in as planned. Couldn't figure out how to work it around my lunch since I was hungry. Didn't want to do a 35 min run on an empty stomach.

Will try to sneak out for a little bit after my 4:30 meeting and see how that goes.

Hey Lina. I do most of my running at work during lunch. Something i found that helps with the hunger part. I to buy some fruit, I like bananas. Eat one about 45 minutes before your run, keep up with your water challenge and you should be OK. Another thing you can try is a low calorie yogurt. You gotta be careful with yogurt as some can be upwards of 200 calories a serving. Danon's "Light & Fit" variety is great at only 60 cal a serving.

Once you're done I found some great little "boxed" lunches you can gwet at Wal-mart for around $2.50-3.00 each. I find them pretty filling, the price is great and they are also good as far as a healthy choice is concerned.

They are called, Kraft's South Beach Living brand. you can get them at the grocery store in the Deli meat section. I tell you right off the bat to stay away from the ones with the "bran chips" in them. Those chips are horrible, extremly hard and taste like the box they were packaged in. The best ones are the ones with the flat bread in them. they even have a cup of sugar-free gelatin for desert. Check them out.

Thanks Mark. I will have to try to Banana trick tomorrow and see how that works out for a noon lunch. I do most of the times get the Smart Ones frozen dinner. I am an extremely picky eater, and the Smart Ones has good choices for me. Will have to check out the South Beach stuff as well the next time I go to the grocery store.

Needless to say, I never got my run in yesterday. By the time I got out of work, it was too late. Had to make dinner at home and was way to hungry to think about anything else. I will make up the run another day during the week.

Got a 6 mile trainer ride in this morning. Have a strength training session with my trainer tonight.

Morning, all!

My marathon training is progressing...12 mile run yesterday. Thankfully it was in the 60's ... but today we have snow. Silly weather!

I also have a head cold...probably caught from one of the kids. Grrr.

Today for me I am going to try a little experiment. I have found my biggest lacking so far is my core/strength training. I can never seem to get up early enough in the morning and no matter how many time I tell myself to do it after work i always wimp out. I guess it dosent help that I am doing evening swims Mon-Wens-Fri and doing spins Tues & Thurs.

so my plan is to start doing my core work-out at lunch. it should work because my plan calls for a medium run on Mondays and Wensday. i should have no problem doing my cores Mon & Tues then Thurs & Fri.

We'll see how that works out.

the  this evening I have my spin class at the bike shop.

Have a great day all.

Happy Wensaday all!!!

Today I have a tuff run at lunch. I am supposed to do four 5 minute runs at LT pace with 3 min recovery in between. Should be fun.

Tonight I have my maters swim. My plan calls for a 2200m swim but i've been getting a constant 3000 or so at maters so I guess that's what i'll do. I can't wait for it to warm up a bit so I can start some open waters.

Marcy, did you get my PM?

OK all have a great day!!!

Well, I took the plunge for my second Tri season and got a new ride! I would name her Candy, but that's Doughboys ride's name.

Here's a pic.

Nice bike!!! Congrats, I hope you share many happy miles together I bought a tri bike in July and I love it. It took 2 or 3 rides to get the hang of it, but now I feel so much more comfortable on it then I do my roadie.

As for me, my training is all messed up this week because of traveling. I think I can squeeze everything in, just had to shorten my swim this morning. I am very tired and anxiously awaiting the weekend. Just 2 more days!

PS - question for those of you who work out at lunch. Do your offices have showers? Or do you do easy workouts so you don't sweat? How does this work? I've only done yoga at lunch so I don't have to worry about sweating. However, my office is moving in 2.5 weeks and I'd love to move my runs to lunch time and or ride my bike to and from work a few times a week. I'm just concerned about the stink factor.

That bike is SWEET!!. I hadn't seen the new S32s til now. I bought mine (S32) last year. I see they changed to aero-bars. I wonder if anything else changed.

It's also not all red anymore. It still looks nice but you'll still end up being about a 1/2 second slower than my red demon.

Well I got my run in at lunch. OMG am I pooped. On my four 5 minute LT+ runs. I averaged about a 7:30, 7:45, 7:50 and then a 8:20 pace. WOW it would be awsome to think I could do a 5K in under 8 minutes a mile. Also, stupid me I left my heart-rate strap at home. it would have been great to see where my heart was at during those intervals. Oh-well maybe next time.

Tonight I am supposed to be swimming, I think I am gonna take it easy tonight I really feel spent right now.

Later all!!

My favorite trick for no-shower days...baby wipes. They are magic.

Fortunately for me my work has a locker room and shower available to use. If they didn't I probably would not be able to do anything at work. I prespire too much.

You could look into whether there is a gym near to your work. My last job did and it was great to be able to get my swims on at lunch.

Awesome ride Scott.  Can't wait to see her in person on Saturday.  She will get to experience some nice winds.

Thinks have been crazy at work.  I am being reassigned to another group. I think in the long run this is going to b a good move for me but in the meantime, things are insane trying to tie up the loose ends.

Great week everyone!!!!

Happy Friday everyone! I woke up not-so bright but early for a trainer ride. Tonight's a run and then it's the weekend I'm going for an outdoor ride tomorrow, only my 2nd one since October, so hopefully it will be a good one.

Thanks for the afternoon workout tips. Do the baby wipes work when you're really sweaty? I'm really gross when I run, so I'm not sure if they'd be enough or not. There's a gym somewhat close, but it's far enough I don't want to walk but it's close enough it's not worth a drive because the streets are set up to be really annoying. So, I'm trying to figure out how to either ride my bike to the gym, then get to work without sweating again, or how to run during lunch and not stink up the place. I really hope they decide to put in showers, they keep flip-flopping on the issue even though all their employees keep requesting them.

Hey All. Got an eight mile run in today. My schedule for this weekend is all screwed up because I am going out tonight and it will most likely be a late night. As such I trying my best to rearrange my work-out for the weekend the best I can. Running early tomorrow is going to be out. So I skipped my bike today and ran instead. I had planed on taking Sunday off but now I hope to catch a bike ride with the LBS then. I'm still shorting myself a bike ride and a short run but it's the best I can do.

Looking back on my training so far and I've noticed that I havent had a single week that I got all the training I was supposed to in. It's a little fustrating, I hope i'm not going to pay for that come race day. If only the only responsibility I had was to train, then everything would work out fine.

When I did it, I ran in the morning before work (but after I dropped off my kids at the daycare by my office)...I would run and then have to cool down a little bit . Once I was no longer dripping sweat, then the baby wipes would work. Probably wouldn't work to go from running back to work immediately.

It is difficult getting in all your scheduled workouts, but as long as I feel like I did everything I could and did not miss a workout because I just did not feel like doing it, I am OK with it.

Today was killer day.  Did an hour ride outside this morning.  30mph winds...ugh.  We came home and finished up on the trainer (an hour and a half).  Then was supposed to be a 40 minute brick run but 17 minutes was all I could handle.

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday
