Good job!

Also, when you get to the legs & back workout, I recommend doing Ab Ripper X first.  Trust me.  There is nothing special about doing ARX before or after, but you'll get a much better ARX workout if you do it before legs & back.  ARX uses a lot of hip flexor/leg muscles and your legs will be absolutely toast after legs & back which won't leave much for ARX.

Even if you can only do 1 or 2 reps, you should try and squeak out as much as possible - even if you have to do the diamond push ups on your knees or don't go very deep.  Dive bombers, well, can't go on your knees there.  Those are tough, but I can now do 20 each set going both directions (not the modified version).  It does come in time!

Hey,  I was targetting starting this week, but work got in the way yesterday.  Maybe I should get the kids to bed and get it going tonight!!!  Not put it off any longer.

Absolutely!  I got in the habit of putting it off and found I was putting off getting any gains.  I started to hit play even when I got in late.  Tired, but still got through the workouts.  That was last winter.  Going to have to go at it with the same attitude this round.

I have bad shoulders and not able to do dive bombers sometimes.  I also can't do reverse grip chin ups because of elbow problem.  My elbows don't dislocate when my arm is straight like most people.  Feels like I rip something every time I try.  Last winter was very painful.  Had a hard time shoveling snow.  I'm just going to do a different pull up on that set.

I'm not old, just 50, but I feel the 50 at times.

Plyo done!

You're doing P90X so you're not a wuss.

I've done it 4 times and lead a group of 12 in it as I type: we workout together 2X/week.  I should post a 90 day b4 & after sometime.

Do all of every workout until total failure, even bonus sets/rounds, even yoga, even all yoga pushups, do upward dog and not cobra (on your feet during yoga not on your legs).  The more you modify P90X, the less you do P90X and the more you do of your own version of it.

Good job so far!  Keep. Pushing. Play.

Hey all, i borrowed p90x from a friend, i am going to start November 1, any thoughts suggestions or anything i should know. I also plan on still running and biking, as i race bikes as well as Triathlon and still do hard interval workouts over the winter as we start racing in March.

With honest diet, do most people lose fat and weight? i am hoping this will help me lost the last 10-15lbs and lean me out more, i am 6'1" and 215, i would love to be out of clydesdale for next year.

thanks in advance

Eating perfectly clean I lost 35 pounds and 10% (or 40% of my body fat) body fat in 90 days.

You can replace KenpoX with one of your other workouts and I always did another workout in addition to the Yoga on Yoga days.  Yoga isn't an option if you want to see ALL the results possible.  Don't replace plyo, but you can do a trainer ride afterwards (a workout with high cadence).  I did this after every Plyo workout.  I also did another workout on the two upper body workout days if I wanted to.  But, I never did an extra workout on the days of legs & back.

Well after a long layoff and just getting back into serious working out, I am re-starting P90-X witht he Hubby this morning. We did the workouts in the past but I was lighter and in better shape. Wish me luck that I don't croak. LOL Also thinking about pre-ordering the new version just to have when we finish up the current one. I'll let you know how today goes. Love all the great advice here.

Was all set (well almost all set but I was going to try it anyway) to start day 1 last night and was reading the book and realized I still "needed" to do the Before Pics, measurements and Fit Test.  So instead of Day 1 the "Prep" work got done instead.  So Day 1 will be either tonight or tommorrow.

Andi - great insights posted on these last couple of pages - thanks.

Did plyo last night. Pretty tough stuff. I did not think my legs were as weak as they are. I am hoping to keep bringing it and getting better and better.

Keep it up everyone!

Just finished up day 2's Plyo workout. Day 1 was a killer and I had a killer run with my friend last night. I was whiped out. The plyo was fun but man, oh man, am I out of shape. The Hubby did pretty well but me and my extra 30 bs really struggled. I am looking forward to being about to finish one with out feeling like I am going to pass out. Wink

Onward and upward.

Awesome job on the plyo.  Can't tell you plyo gets easier - but YOU get BETTER and the better you get, the higher you jump, the lower you squat, the more you double time moves, etc.  Have fun with it!

Ab Ripper X recommendation: take your shoes off.  The extra weight adds nothing to help you with your core and with your shoes off you're more able to focus on the core and get through the workout.  Trust me on this.

5 Days in and made all workouts.  I noticed a lot more muscle pain this time around compared to previous times.  Almost debilitating.  The only thing I did different?  Recovery drink.  I went with a less expensive recovery drink instead of the P90X recovery.  Anybody else use p90X recovery.  I love the taste.

In addition to taking the shoes off for Ab ripper, I found that I have to do the cross leg method instead of the wide leg method sit up.  The hip and thighs are so fried by then, I cramp up doing the wide leg.

2 weeks in and We have made almost all the workouts. Getting more consistent and need to remember to log. Anyway I am loving it even if I have to rest more and can not do everything yet. I do have a question for anyone doing the program and using the Nutrition Program. I started using the Phase I but I was so tired that I could not get through the day. So I stopped and just tried to eat better. Well I did not do so well that way. I need a bit of structure in my eating right now. So I was thinking about moving to the Phase II Nutrition Program as it has one more serving of carbs. And maybe I won't be so tired. Has anyone had the experience with being really tired and do you think moving to a more conservative (in terms of carbs) diet should/would solve this. I still have to bike, run and swim some too. Thanks and I have Yoga today...not my favorite because quite frankly I sux at it. But it will get better.

I love how the P90X threads seem to go on forever.  On a couple of other websites I frequent the P90X threads go back several years just as it does on this site.  I am in my third week and I did NOT want to do my workout yesterday or today for that matter.  But finding this thread motivated me to get off my butt and "Bring It."

Been doing P90 for over 4 years now in one form or another. Yoga and Cardio's are staples, I use the weight training in the off season. Yoga is the best. Post faster runs, more flexible, and injury free.... so far. At 51 I need to be flexible. I recommend P90 for everyone to use throughout the year.

excel formula      =Sum(Intensity + Duration)*Time yields a personal best.

I'm about 3 weeks into P90X, definitely a good workout.  The 1st week I was so sore putting on clothes hurt, even now after 3 weeks I still have sore legs/butt after doing legs and back 2 days ago and Kenpo yesterday.  I'm feeling stronger and really looking forward to seeing how things continue to progress.
