I finished the 90 day program and thought I would give some observations from a triathletes perspective.  I am hoping others will give their opinions as well.

I did P90X and would never do it again.  I think the program is good in general but it is not a very balanced program, although darn close, and so I developed some muscle imbalances that caused me some issues that I had to deal with.  I admit to getting imbalances rather easily however so the average Joe might not have this issue ever

I am a P90X and Insanity grad...I love both programs!  I was using the p90X upper body workouts while training for marathons and tris, just to continue to build muscle.  The hubby is currently training for IMTX, so I am really not training for anything (hey somebody has to watch the kids).  Since Insanity and P90X are easy to do in the mornings, before the rest of the house is awake, I decided to try the p90X/Insanity hybrid program.  I have always liked the muscle definition I get from P90X and the endurance benefits I've gained from Insanity...I swear after Insanity, my 5k pace dropped about 30 seconds per mile.

I am in week 3 right now and so far I am loving it!  We'll see if I can hang through the entire 90 days...I do miss running and right now, I am only able to squeeze in 1 - 2 short runs per week.

Oh and my all time favorite P90X workout is S/B/T...the "glamour muscles"!  I have a love/hate relationship with C/B.  It's been awhile since I've done the other workouts, but I cannot stand the one with the corn cob pull-ups!  Mainly because I find the girl who loves those to be completely annoying.  LOL!

Right on with all of that! I did p90x weights for the 90 days and the most annoying video was the "corn cob" girl. My cardio during the off season was the computrainer instead of running.

I agree about the muscle definition. I had shoulder surgery in late October, so did modified shoulder exercises until I was cleared to go overhead with the moves. Started my SBR training this week and was shocked at how strong I was in the pool.

I am very interested in trying a hybrid program; assuming the Insanity cardio workouts are more difficult than the P90X ones.

I am going to start the Insanity workouts next week to get a feel for them.  Is the hybrid program something you put together yourself, or are you using a prescribed one?

I always thought the C/B workout was much more difficult than the S/B/T because the S/B/T uses weights a lot more, and you can adjust the weight to insure you can do the reps you want.  Pushups and pull ups are harder to regulate, and they burn me up much quicker than weights.

In the middle of week 2, yoga tonight.  Been able to get thru every exercise except AB ripper.  How long did it take you to be able to complete all the reps.  Right now I can do a little over half the reps (~15) of AB Ripper.

Did anyone use the P90X recovery drink?  If so, is it worth the money?

I found the hybrid on a few different websites.  Here's a link...

So far, it's been P90X with Insanity on the days you would typically do Plyo and Kenpo X...I think that Insanity workouts are much more intense than the P90X cardio workouts.

Thanks for the link to the hybrid programs, it is very helpful.

After the 90 day program, I can almost do all of ab ripper.  I still cannot do the Fifer (sp??) scissor very well.  I would guess it took me 5-6 weeks before I could complete all the exercises (xcept the one above). From that point on, there was constant improvement in my form and I was able to progress to the harder forms of the moves.

Starting week 3.  For your diet, did you follow the P90X diet or something else?  At the moment, I'm trying to eat less processed food and not snack much.  For the most part I eat well, probably could use more wheat products (pasta, bread) but I don't like the taste of them.  Doing this with HM plan, I find my intake to be plenty of food/fuel to complete both P90X and HM training.

i mix in a bit of basic tai chi. I can actually feel the blood flowing through my body.  My  abdomen muscles get relaxed and i feel relaxed overall. also i have noticed that by doing tai chi my muscles are taking time to form but my strength has increased and my recovery time has got slightly less.

I really did not follow any diet plan.  I have slowly migrated to a diet that works well for me - it took about 5 years for me to completely change my diet.  I would guess that the P90X plan is similar to what I try to achieve: 2200 Calories, 10% Fats, 60% Carbs, 30% Protein.

Hardest part of a diet is to reduce/eliminate sugary snacks.  I found small small changes over the 5 year period was what worked for me.

Good luck

I did not follow any diet for my 1st round, which was not the smartest thing to do.  I am sure that I would have seen even more changes had I been watching what I was eating.  This time around, I am using a meal plan from a dr.  I find that I have the best results when I eat 40% carbs, 40% protein, 20% fat.
