fattyfatfat - 2010-09-20 10:07 PM Will I need a car for the weekend if planning on staying in and around the Hotel and town? or is everything pretty much walkable? I know I'll have to get to bike check on Saturday but it doesn't look to far.  Shuttles Sunday.  I'm thinking I might just get dropped off and then the wife and kiddos can come back in town Sunday afternoon.  I'm booked at the Marriott.   Thanks!

I might could fit another swmbkrn MG member in my truck a time or two!

awesome!  thanks!  i might show up friday now, will let you know.

Did those "isolated thunderstorms" move out of the forecast?

Loved the pics of the IronMan trucks in Augusta!  Thanks for sharing some of the initial excitement!

Been training for what seems like forever.  This is not my first Tri but my first Half IM but my dad (recruited to watch kids on race day) still said last night, "You're going how far?  In one day?!"  I don't think I was nervous until he said that.  Yes, dad...it's a big deal.  Wink

Good luck everyone!  Hope you enjoy every minute...that's my plan!

when i did my 1st i only finished 60 something miles. i was a lil upset. my friend put it in perspective for me. he said "i didn't even do that in my car today" it is a big deal. it's the best feeling when u finish knowing only about 1-2% of the population is this crazy!

hoping everyone has a great race day!

My bike rack holds 4 so give me buzz and I'll sherpa your bike if needed.  You however, can walk. Wink

Thanks to everyone that has posted information on this site.  It has been very much appreciated.  The information on the course (including the videos), restaurants in the area, water temps, transition setup, Friday check-in, weather and other information has been really helpful.  I am coming down from Ohio with my wife and two year-old son and hope to get to Augusta for check-in and the last briefing on Friday.  This is my first HIM and the info has really helped me plan.
Good Luck to Everyone and Thanks Again
Tom
PS.  If you see a 6'2" 230 pound guy with a BT tri shorts and top give HIM (No pun intended) some encouragement.

70 miles was the distance we drove to my grandmothers as a kid!!!!  I used to think it took forever in the car!!!!

It really hit me last year when I had a guy tell me at mile 69......you have gone 70 miles under your own power today!!!  Be Proud!

It's one of those things that in the great scheme of things is so little and so big and the same time!!!

Left Orlando, Florida yesterday and drove to Charlotte, NC to spend time with my girls and grandson. I am leaving early morning 5AM from Charlotte Friday.  Going to get down to Augusta about a 3 hour ride, and go look at the town, bike course, river and the run course.

Is there a planned meeting for any quick workouts on Saturday with the BT crew?  Or a meeting place for dinner Friday or Saturday?

Good luck everyone on your racing!

Diner is tough for me. I have my wife and kid with me so they dont care about meeting people I talk to online. I do plan to swim Sat afternoon if anyone wants to get together we can set a time.

Planning on a swim Sat. also, I assume there won't be any issues with being able to swim the course or a portion of it?
