mchally - 2010-04-03 2:17 PM I just took my little sister and cousin to see a noon showing of How to Train Your Dragon (PG) at a nearby theater, but we had to leave disappointed...It turns out that the theater is now only 21 and over.

When I looked up the times it failed to mention that it was 21 and over.

Seriously...a noon showing of a PG movie???

I guess when they remodeled they built bars in all the theaters.

Sheesh, that's annoying!

brick94513 - 2010-04-04 1:02 PM We're getting close to the start of race season!  Does anyone have races this month?

I'l be racing in the Sea Otter XC race for sure.  I can't make my mind up if I want to travel to Vegas for the XTERRA Western Regional Championships.  No easing into the season if I decide on that one.  It will have competitors from across the US.

May will definately be busy.

I have two this month.  A half mary on the 17th and my first tri on the 24th. I'm still wondering about the swim but its in a pool so I should be OK.

yogachic - 2010-04-03 12:49 PM Happy Saturday, A Team!!

So I got my 15-miler in this morning in spite of the wind & rain!  Brrr, I was soaking wet and chilled to the bone by the end of my run. . . Ringing water out of my socks and 3 layers of moisture-wicking shirts!!  Of course, it stopped raining the second I got done with my run Frown

I'm headed to my folks' house this afternoon, so I'll be relaxing for the rest of the day until I head out there.

That makes me feel better about my 11.5 mile run this morning.  I didn't realize it was even windy until I started heading back. Then I wasn't too happy that I left my outer layer by a fence about 2 miles into my run.  It wasn't raining and it wasn't 15 miles so I won't complain. Except my shoulders are starting to hurt on my long runs. That's pretty sad when I come home from a long run and the only part that hurts are the shoulders.

2 weeks ago it was snowing/slushing/sleeting, and I decided to skip my run.  Some of the (really hardcore) members of my marathon training group decided to run anyways despite the weather.  They were pelted with ice the whole time, and at one point a huge wind came up and a big wave splashed up and hit them (we run along Lake Michigan).  They ended up cutting the run short by 2 miles and taking a cab back to the parking lot where we meet!

Lol, so yeah, even though the run was kind of miserable this weekend, my running friends kept reminding me that at least it wasn't freezing and we didn't get hit by a wave Tongue out  After they told me that story, I wasn't complaining either!

That's weird about your shoulder. . . Do you scrunch them up when you run?  I try to make a conscious effort to keep my upper body, arms, and neck relaxed while I run.

Happychick - 2010-04-04 1:42 AM After a very long night of trying to sleep through the dang neighbors barking dog, I managed to crush my goal of a 9 min/mile pace at my 10k race this morning! This was a very emotional race for me for several reasons...1)I was scheduled to do this one last year but didn't because my Mom passed away so I knew that doing it this year would be somewhat of a memorial race for me and 2)This is my last race here in Hawaii. I am so very happy about my time and did, in fact, spend a lot of the race thinking of my Mom!
Here is my RR for those interested (its short and sweet...at least MY version of short and sweet)!

Nice!  Congrats on an awesome race, even if it was bittersweet!

kimk - 2010-04-04 9:41 AM I had the best day yesterday! The sweat training with Lauren and Tri Faster was tooooo much fun! We did a lecture first then onto the scale, into the pool for a 45 min swim...I so wish I could remember laps! I want to know how far I went! I felt great in the water. then onto the scale again (have I mentioned I hate the scale?) then Lauren did some math to figure out our sweat rate Mine is 1#/hour or 16 oz of fluid that I release during swimming, then into our bike clothes, I just wore my tri-suit the whole time, so onto the scale again, then on the bike for 1 1/2 hours keeping our HR in z2 and 3. 1.34 #/hour or 16oz/hour for the bike(Lauren lead a great class, gave pointers for while on the rd and also how to train more efficient on the trainer during the winter.  Then onto the scale again. transition to the run, on the scale then for a run it was supposed to be 40 min but we got a late start, I wasn't paying attention to my time and should have gone for a full 30 min but stopped at 28min! 2#/hr or 32oz for the run! I sweat a lot!!! Not that I didn't know this but didn't realize how much more I should be drinking.  It was a great training and I felt great through it all, makes me feel better for my longer races! Followed the training with great family time at the Bucks game!

Wow!!  That sounds like a pretty intense day!  That's kind of cool to test how much you're sweating so that you know how much you should be hydrating!

Yeah I think I must.  I've been trying to pay better attention to my body as I work out.  I've noticed I scrunch my toes and have been trying to relax them. I'll have to work on relaxing the shoulders too.

Hasn't been the best Easter today.  I won't go into details but its been kind of a bummer. My wife and son are off to go visit a college that my son is considering so I'll be on my own tonight and tomorrow. I'm going to go find a DVD or something to relax before going to bed.  Have a fun evening and we'll chat in the morning.

Happy Easter A-Team!

No training for me today - just a rest day with a lot of Easter celebrating!  Spent the night at my parents' house last night, and had a nice Easter breakfast there this morning.  Then it was off to my aunt's house for our family Easter party, which lasted all afternoon.  I have a lot of younger cousins and nephews so it was fun watching them do the egg hunt.  Now I'm pretty pooped!  I wish weekends were longer!!

All these posts about family is making me kind of sad.  Our family lives about 400 miles south of us, plus my wife had to go to work today.  So, the boys and I had Easter dinner at a friend's house.  While it was nice, it sure doesn't compare to those big family gatherings.

Not sure if thiswill help, but I count by hundreds in the pool... 1,2,3, 100, 1,2,3, 200, 1,2,3, 300....  If I'm swimming a really big set, I will finish every 100 with site breathing to help me keep the numbers straight.  Just thought I would share.  Works for me.

D001 - 2010-04-04 10:49 AM Challenge Standings: I went to the spreadsheets, in order to give you a first week challenge update. But a lot of people haven't entered their goals yet. So, no update today. Instead, I'll go work on my taxes. Bleh.... As for the SECONDARY (Post Padding) Challenge, well, I think we already know which team is going to win that one. If the teams want new names, let me know. (Or, if you want to keep Team A and Team B, that's OK too.)

oops...soory team I am guilty..going to do it now!

mchally - 2010-04-04 11:55 AM Good Morning A's

I am making some Bfast before heading to Church.

I am going to have Easter Dinner with the BF's family today.   He told me that it is unprecedented that his mother invited his GF to a important family get-together, especially considering I only met the guy 9 days ago.

I'm Special.

ohhhh you got it in!!!! When I had been dating my DH for about 6 mo we were getting ready to do a family picture and my mom called and wanted to make sure I understood that he wouldn't be in the pic and my dad yelled from the other room that He was to be in the pic and he better be dressed and ready! I guess dads know best! I was shocked since they claimed I changed boyfriends more then most people changed there underwear!   which they weren't too far off!Undecided
