Do you think you could do itwithout too much stress? Yeah I AM a bit worried about how my body will do with training but I think I need to be really sensible and realistic...undertrained is going to be better than over trained in this instance... complete... NOT compete... Was thinking a few half hour workouts of cardio a week rather than anything long or particularly intense... I just want to finish.. dont even care if that means dead last...swimming is not so hard on my body and I wont need much training (if i jumped in now i would come out probably mid pack for 250m) so its mostly whether i can handle ruin training but if i committ to a 'walk/run plan'... The actual race might take me out for a few days recovery but I can plan for that no worries... Main worry would be what the temp will be at the end of November.. could get a nice day or a 100F+ stinker that time of year... and me plus serious heat is NOT good as I dehydrate really fast BUT the race is early morning... so once again tha should negate a lot of the challenges! |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: Nibbs XLV - Baby Nibblets kaqphin - 2012-09-06 12:28 AM Hi Nibbs... my maid of honour has just gone and signed up for an all women's triathlon festival 10 minutes from my home at the end of November... And while she is NOT pushing me at all to... she really wants me to do it AND she knows that I want to try again but have been derailed so many times with my health starting again is really hard mentally to try again but surely a half sprint is doable for me by 25th November... So... there is a half and quarter sprint distance and i was thinking I might do the half... 250m swim (easy)/10K ride (doable and should be fine with a few weeks training/2.5k run (couldnt do it right now but COULD wog it.... and once again I have enough time to train to just be able to do this little distance)...
What do we think? Seems like its manageable, fun AND I have 11 weeks from next week to train which should be ok since Im just doing it to finish.... Do it! But don't do it with the goal of setting a PR. Just do it with the goal of completing it AND enjoying the experience. How do you think your maid of honoUr will do? (Yes, I left the U in, even though it looks funny to me. LOL) Is this her first tri? If so, could you do it with the intent of doing it together with her, and supporting one another? |

Well, if your goal is just to complete it, then if the weather is hot, you can just take more time and not push the pace, and concentrate on hydration as you go. |

Umm she is training for a HIM... she runs marathons... and works out probably on average 2 hours ish a day with surf club, run club, gym etc so for her it will be a walk in the park... she is doing the full sprint too...so we will NOT be racing together... Not her first tri... she got into it the last 12-18 months... so while Ive been super lazy...
So she signed up for the race and then told me about it lol.... I will be going to watch her regardless of what decision I make... |

Judi - Guess a date would be hilarious... even we dont knwo what we are doing! She is getting SO big! She is trying to walk and she says "ma ma". It's so cute. I pick her up from daycare and she has a big smile on her face and says "HA! MAMA!". "Ha" is how she says "hi". I love it. This age is really fun. I loved newborn stage, but 4 - 6 months was tougher for me. Now that she is getting more independent and moving, it is really fun. |
