What is this "ab workout" you speak of? HA! I should do more but I don't. So I have no help for you there.

I think they are referring to Abi Normal.

I haven't seen her since 1993. Smile

That happens to be the same year I got married. This is the big 20 year anniversary of the smartest thing I have ever done but I stupidly signed for my first half marathon that same week in May - what a dope! Frown

I have heard a lot about p90x and insanity. Anyone have experience with both and/or compared them to crossfit?

I haven't done p90x or insanity or Crossfit. But one obvious difference is that p90x and insanity are DVD sets that you do at home. Crossfit you show up and work out in person. So you have to know your own personality. If you buy a DVD workout will you do it? I won't. I know this about myself so I've stopped even buying them.

Personally, I don't Crossfit - but there are lots of people who do it and love it.

DLB, I am very interested in P90X because of the diet and I always used dumbbells (never heavy barbells) and body resistance (pushups, pullups, etc) when weight training. I am also interested in the stretching because I think that is how I got this recent injury.

With our triathlon training doing all the running, swimming and biking do we have enough time to do P90X? My schedule already has two workouts a day that only has three weight workouts a week and I don't think I have another 3 sessions a week to do this.

Are you just thinking on adding the ab workout to your usual weight program?

I think I still may buy the program because I may learn a lot from it and do some type of modified version during my weight training sessions.

Any thoughts?

Hi Amy,

Before I got injured I was posting my workouts on this site but I don't see many other people doing the same. Are people posting their logs somewhere else? Should I continue to post workouts here? Please advise?

Sorry for all the questions, I must be getting antsy with being sidelined with this injury. Feeling better and seeing trainer today, hoping to get the green light to start running again. Thanks!

I use the BT site to track my workouts. I've been pretty consistent with it for the past year and half or so. But it doesn't seem like a lot of people do.

As for the conversation about core/ab workouts, I do yoga a couple of times a week, which helps a ton. And there was something in the USAT magazine a couple of months ago about doing the Myrtl Routine. I try to do most of the moves in that routine a couple of times a week while I watch tv. You can see the full routine on YouTube.

I am really just looking for something for strengthening what I have. I am leaning towards crossfit or at least partnering up and using their posted WOD. A friend did it for several months so I know we can do it right with paying for the gym.

I am one of those who isn't good about posting my workouts here. I admit it. I use training peaks as my main tracking spot because that's where my coach puts my workouts.

When I started I did upload them here and it's a great log I think.

The most important thing is that you're actually logging things so that you can pickup patterns of nutrition, sleep, injury and of course - progress.

Well, the day has come...tomorrow is my first triathlon. Zoinks! It's a small reverse tri: 5K, 20K, 200m pool swim. I feel prepared & have been training consistently. Just looking at this as a learning race...so we'll see!! Then, on Sunday I have an Oscars party to go to. Hopefully, I will be able to walk in my heels.

Best wishes for a great weekend everyone!

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for asking about my race yesterday. It was totally fab. Really loved it! I'm putting together a race report & will post in the next day or so. Happily, I'm not sore today, so I have to run out to grab a pair of heels for the partay...hee hee hee. I just hope I can get the sharpie tatoo off of my legs and arms. About the reverse tri: it's a triathlon that is Run>Bike>Swim (pool). They have a couple of these type of races early in the season out here in California. Great for beginners like me. I have another one in March, and then I'm considering a couple of ocean (chomp chomp shark) ones for later in the summer.

Great job G! Good luck with the sharpie removable.

In at 180 - down a pound this week, I'll take it with being injured and all the inactivity that goes along with it. It has been very frustrating, I hope everyone stays healthy in their quest.

The hip and leg pain has really dissipated and I should be able to start running this week, can hardly wait. Hopefully I will have some serious weight loss to report next week.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Congrats to G and any others who raced this weekend.

I ended up flipping the days of my training around this weekend. I did my long ride on Saturday and long run on Sunday. What a difference. I've never really noticed my legs being tired on the bike from long runs but boy oh boy did I notice how tired my legs were a day after the long ride.

Smarty pants that I am as much as I hated the run today I think it showed me something important training wise. I'll be switching these up more often to do the long runs on tired legs since that is after all how the race is run.

Have a great start to the week everyone!
