Expert 1580 Ankeny, Iowa | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Ok just back from a 2.6 mile run with hubby - we did it straight no walking (even though I felt like losing my lunch) in just over an average of 11 min/mile. Wha hoo for us. It was windy as heck and it was a hillier route (we got tired of running laps so we did I big new loop). The spreadsheet is attached. Way to go lyssa-gator for getting to 72% today. The new spreadsheet of tonight is attached.

It has been expected for awhile now, over a year in fact, and his condition just worsened really bad in the last 2 weeks. I'm doing alright though, and I'll be alright and back to kicking everyone else's butt in the near future From what I am seeing, everyone here is doing a phenomenal job. Keep up the good work. |

Veteran 131 Tampa, Florida | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread So, I was just checking the spreadsheet and you overacheivers really make me feel like a loser!!! I thought I was doing pretty good. Oh well, I feel like I'm on track, I only have to log 4 more miles before the 15th and I'll feel pretty good about being 50% at halfway through the month. In any case, I certainly feel like this is helping my running. Running is still my 3rd favorite part of the triathlon, but I'm starting to not feel like I'm DYING when I do run, times are getting better and I feel like I could go farther. My shins aren't screeching anymore and my knees are barking less, so I am soooo glad I did this with you guys. I have each and every one of you to thank for pushing me to get off my fat *** and do it already! Good job everyone! Keep it up! |

(Especially since we haven't heard from either Baowolf or Jason. So you're probably well AHEAD of BOTH of them. Hehehe) Dee |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread kns57 - 2007-10-13 4:24 PM Does counting running around the library count towards mileage? I feel as if I have done about 3 miles just helping our customers here. I'll be doing my run when I get home tonight. Hope to get 2 miles in and then will have to get up in the morning to get my run in for tomorrow before heading back to work at the library. 10 hours work for today, but only 8 for tomorrow. Hmmm! my age. I think it was mentioned in a way earlier post, and I'm not shy about my grandma status and gray hair, cause I have two beautiful grandsons and will have a granddaughter in December. But it is only 50. Yeah the big 5 0 is what I turned this year. Aches and pains I'm not even going to begin to list, cause if I do the list would never stop and then ya'll will be yelling at me. But I will say that I can't go to sleep at night without some ibuprofen. So...take that as you will. 50!!!! That's all? The way you were talking before, I'd have thought..... Well, nevermind. I'll shut up now. LOL!!!! Fifty's not "old." Old is,um -- I'm not sure how old someone would be before I classified them as "old." But it would be more than 50. Fifty is, um - middleaged, maybe? Let's see. If people live to about 90, then 45 would be halfway. So yeah, 40-50 would be in the middle. Dee |

Shhh, I'll tell you a secret. I may have an idea for the November Challenge. I sent a draft to Cat to get her opinion about it. It's a "You pick the goal" challenge. You pick the sport/activity. You set the goal. Would be a perfect challenge for you, your mom and your brother. You could all tell one another, "I'm at 50% of my goal. What about you?" I'm kind of worried that I'll either end up with: a) no one interested, or b) 140 people interested. Actually, the 140 people would be worse. That's the size of this Run Challenge. (I can handle it if no one is interested. 'Cause I'd just do it as a competition with myself.) So, unless someone beats me to posting the Nov Challenge, I may put that up on the board. Expert 973 Berkeley, Calif. | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread Jason, I'm so sorry for your loss. I imagine your family has some kind of peace after he struggled for a year, but it's still a sad thing and we're all thinking of you. Dee, I love the idea of the Choose Your Own Challenge challenge (sort of like the Choose Your Own Adventure books! only more sweat!). I'm pretty sure you can count on me to sign up. I'm going to need a lot more motivation next month when I don't have a triathlon hanging over my head. I got in another 4.3 miles today. I'm still struggling with the interesting problem of running too fast. Ha! I've never had that problem before! Not that I'm complaining. Tomorrow is a bike ride and I really, really need to go wetsuit shopping so I can get in a couple of OWSes before the end of the month. At this point I think I'm more intimidated by the wetsuit shopping than the swim itself. |

I agree that it's not that old, that's why being old at 40 was driving me nuts. So I opened my mouth ( or rather let me fingers do the typing) and inserted foot into mouth. LOL Oh well, did not get my mile in this morning. Last night after work, got home and had to help stain the deck, which we did for about 2 hours before the light totally went on us. Then ran, dinner and sleep (ha ha). We will see if I can get it in tonight after work 9and some more deck staining). |

If you feel intimidated, ask if there's a changing room, and try them on where there's just you and the mirror. Do not think about "how you look." We ALL look funny in wetsuits. I don't have a tri wetsuit. But I have a few wetsuits for scuba diving. (All different thicknesses, lengths, etc.) Neoprene is great for trapping water and keeping you warm. But it doesn't make you look "lovely" in the process. Actually, I never heard anyone comment on how anyone else looked in their wetsuit. We just put them on, and got in the water. Everyone was always too wrapped up in checking to make sure they had all their own equipment, to notice what anyone else was wearing. |

Master 2339 somewhere over the rainbow | Subject: RE: Poison Apples Team Thread i agree with the wetsuit shopping thing. i went and rented mine, but then i loved swimming in it so much that i ended up buying it. i think i look ridiculous in it, but i was SUPER intimidated once i got to the race where there was you know a few hundred really toned wonderful looking people that didn't just have their third child. but heck. it's not a fashion thing, it's a race, so no one says anthing. and the neoprene floats, so it takes a little of the effort out of it you know? i live at a lake so all my swimming is ow, but i REALLY REALLY recommend practicing in the open water as much as you can before your race, the first time i lost sight of the bottom of the lake, i flipped out--i mean you get used to it quick, but there's a human psychological response, and it's rather unpleasant. don't be scared or anything, just get in the water and get used to it, that's all i'm saying. when is your race anyway?? we're going to have to hear every greuling detail as SOON as it's over!! |
