I'm staying at the Comfort Suites by Milwaukee Airport, so I'm 20 miles from Racine myself... if you decide to switch hotels and want to go north (i know it's very counter-productive, but by the time I decided on a hotel, that was all that was left with my DH's points), come stay at CS! We can be wrecks together!! hehehI thought if I procrastinated posting in this thread I could pretend that I'm not actually doing this and be able to avoid the panic attack over why on earth I'm doing this. Note to self: that's a dumb plan. Somehow this taper matched up with that time of the month and I'm a basket case. I'm debating switching hotels and I'm not sure how crazy that is given that I'm already a nutjob. I have a reservation at what might possibly be the crappiest motel in Racine (Riverside Inn) due to the aforementioned procrastination. So what's better the night before a big race, staying in a dump where your nerves keep you tossing and turning for an extra half hour because you're closer to the start or staying at a nice place where your nerves keep you tossing and turning then having to drive half an hour to the race? IE, should I stick with my current reservation or switch to someplace in Pleasant Prairie or by the airport? And am I too late to get in on dinner tomorrow night? Hey, at least I registered for the race on time. I switched. You may regret it though. In Quincy's words "she's mad as a hatter" and that's just on a normal day Looking forward to meeting you and everyone else at dinner tomorrow. |

Bouncing off the walls today x2 Salt Tabs or even the Salt Stick (or even 2 of the Mini) - I need it! No place near me has them and it's obviously too late to order them. But with this crazy weather I'm thinking that they'd be a good idea and an easier way to manage stuff. I'm also not keen on dropping $50000 on them at the IM Expo. Anyone have a shop nearby that has them on the shelf? Edited by JHag 2011-07-15 4:29 PM |

Elite 3447 West Allis, WI | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Racine : Official Thread Whizzzzz - 2011-07-15 12:56 PM Good Luck Everyone!!! I'll be out there suffering with you all... and Craig Alexander. It seems as though every time there's a hot race, a Kona champ shows up. Chrissie Wellington was present when I melted in Kansas last year. Good times. If you see me, say hello! I know some of you, but not all of you, so if I see you, I'll stop ya. Don't know what time we're getting into town, but I think we are planning on a little OWS tomorrow after (or maybe before?) we check in the bikes. Hoping for a huge expo because I'd like to buy some new goggles. FWIW, Allison, we are staying @ the STAYBRIDGE Suites up by the airport. In a town called Franklin (or Franklinville?) Looks nice. I'd rather stay someplace nice that's a little further away... but that's just personal preference... Stay hydrated. Follow your nutrition plan. If it's hot, slow it down a bit on the run. Other than that, have fun!!!! See you there! Hey Whizzzz! I was at the expo and they do have lots of goggles available! I did a nice OWS today...water felt great! 66* with a very little chop, then did a short run up the lovely hill we get to experience on race day! I also drove most of the bike course to check out the conditions. Everything is well marked including deep potholes and cracks in the pavement. There is a portion on 5mile road just before HWY 38 that has bad bumps where they are repairing the road for the bridge approach. Also a long stretch on 5 mile that goes bump....bump....bump! I will be back down there tomorrow to do a short bike ride(the run course) and check in my bike. Hope to see some of you then! Good luck everyone and remember to smile |

And as for the water temp....remember this is Lake Michigan and it can change within the hour but yes the expo had the temp listed at 66* and it was warm! ( I will still be in my wetsuit though ) |
