Wish we only had 100% humidity to deal with.  Rain, rain and more rain.  Flash flooding.  People can't make it to work today.  My friend's car got flooded at the front of the subdivision.  It's all a mess.

Good news, got a ride in on the trainer and am hoping to get out and walk in the rain when it is not so hard.  Need to get my mileage in.

Good Golly!  Be careful out there.  Sounds like quite the mess

blujay65 - 2009-09-21 5:43 AM Got my run in, 3.1 miles. I hate to complain, but gosh what is up with our weather?!

100% humidity,  what's up with that!? Isn't that the same as rain? After running you would not have know the difference for looking at me, I was drenched, with clear skies!

Keeping my fingers crossed for some cooler/dryer weather!

Oh man~!   hope you get some better weather soon

i guess ill have a better idea how to approach the race come Sunday morning when i wake up and see how my legs are feeling.

its all good!

gonna head out later to swim.

HAPPY TRNG EVERYONE!

kimk - 2009-09-17 11:09 AM got my first run of the day in! Felt great!!! off to teach water aerobics and an active older adult aerobics class then run club tonight and trap shooting! Have a great day team.

Trap shooting, now that sounds interesting! Glad to see you got a run in! Cheers!

I am really enjoying it! It is my hubby's hobby so I thought I would get involved...maybe he might try a tri....He has already told me to stop wishing! The swim or bike are not his thing! I am just glad he does support me and is always at every race(with all 4 kids!) ...now if only we would have found cheap hobbies!

skrtrnr - 2009-09-18 1:53 PM hi everyone.

i wish i could stay and chat, but alas.....

dh and i have a date night tonight.  we scored free tickets to see STOMP at the Benedum here in the Burgh.

were dropping off the kids at grandmas and heading to the cultural district for dinner then the show.  WOOT!

as for me, i was able to get in a 9 mile run.  though i SERIOUSLY doubted whether id be able to do the entire distance.

my little toe is STILL quite blistered and what isnt blistered is raw from the peeling skin.  i told ya this was NASTY.

then i had a cranky outer calf muscle from a charlie horse i got at the very end of my swim yesturday (does any one else suffer from calf cramps?  OIME! they hurt like a bugger....)

but icky toe and cranky calf did not deter me

off i went, and what a GLORIOUS morning to run.

cool.  foggy.  perfect running conditions for me.

inspiteof the horrible beginning to the week, the icky toe, cranky calf, i cranked out a fairly decent 9 mile on pace run.

i know, SHUT UP!

i was pretty proud of myself.  i could have come up w a million reasons NOT to do this run, to wait for a 'better' day, but you know what, the run didnt have to be 'perfect',

if i ended up needing to stop or walk, who the heck cared, what was important to me was that i was out there and was getting it done....

little piggy and i did JUST FINE.  and just fine is good enough.

im hoping to get in a ride early in the AM and ride over to where my friend is a director of a race - she does the 'triple trot' races, a 10 miler, a 5K and a 1 miler - you can enter a single race, two or all three.  isnt that fun?

im gonna run the 5K as my speed work trng session.  the course is flat.

2:1 intervals.

we'll see how speedy my 5K will end up being.  SHAZAAM!

i may end up dumping the ride and saving it for Sunday if my calf is still cranky in the AM - nothing a little COLD LASER, BIOFREEZE and THE STICK isnt taking care of.....[went to the chiropractor this afternoon]

have a splendid evening everyone!

blujay65 - 2009-09-18 5:33 PM Had a very depressing budget meeting with my boss this afternoon, thought I would drown out the unpleasantness with a good swim, but than a huge storm, some flash flooding and a 1/4 mile walk to the health center conspired against me... so I went and got a veggie pizza! Not sure how pizza substitutes for exercise but it sure tasted amazing!

I guess I'll need to do a longer run tomorrow!

Jen,  Hope this weekend goes better for you.  but pizza sounds good!  I had chicken & artichoke pizza with garlic sauce the other night  ymmm!

blujay65 - 2009-09-20 6:32 AM Yesterday was a total bust... well it wasn't that bad, it was a busy day and I was so sore from Friday's workout, I decided to just do a walk and a some stretching.

Also one of my pups came down with a bad ear infection, so an unplanned vet visit was in order, luckily they could fit us in. And then a trip to Wally World, laundry, dishes, you all know the routine!!

Like I said..life just gets in the way!! Hope the pup is ok.

blujay65 - 2009-09-20 6:38 AM Oh, BTW the dog will be fine!

At the end of this week I head out for a long awaited trip to Delaware for a conference. It's really a symposium for folks who do boat building and stuff. I go every year and am on the national board. My folks also live in that area so I go an extra few days early and see them too. I drive up, as I have gear and boats to bring... nearly two days in my pick-up, but it's worth it!

May not make my swimming goals for this month... but I am going to try and swim every day I can next week to get there!

Ahhh, Sunday toppage!

Sounds like a great time! And toppage!!

skrtrnr - 2009-09-20 11:05 AM hi ya teammies....

just buzzing through.  my husband and i are off to take our bikes for a final inspection at the LBS before our 60 miler on Saturday.

i went to the park early this am for an easy ride round the lake.  i knew they were holding a 5K in the park.

i met this family at a Team in Training Meeting - at the meeting they shared how their daughter Elora passed in 2006 from Luekemia, and theyve done a memorial 5K in her honor every year since.

today was the ELORAPALOOZA (i love that, dont you?

after i did a loop on my bike, id 'stop in' at the race check-in....the atmosphere there was SO wonderful...i just made my eyes well up w/ tears.

the horn sounded, and the race started and i followed the runners and walkers out on my bike and out onto the course.

i dunno.

there was something so healing/rejuvenating riding along side the participants in this race.

ELORAs spirit was there, indeed.

i wrote on my FB page....

some days are not to be rushed.

today is one of those days.

looking forward to a week of tapering....

have a happy everyone.

ps. to read Eloras story....http://www.elorashope.com/
