Master 1222 Lafayette, IN | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread wiky - 2010-05-27 2:42 PM Thanks for the heads up. This could be good for me! If it has a similar profile to Infinit, I could live off the course and not have to carry 4 bottles of fuel/water on my bike! I am having a difficult time figuring out my fuel/hydration set-up. I don't have an aero bottle to hold one or the other. I can't live with GE for the bike and run, it is too much for my system and not enough fuel without having to resort to gels, bars, etc, which I would like to do away with. I will be interested in the formulation and taste when it becomes available. June still gives me time to train with it. |

Extreme Veteran 476 WI | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread graceful_dave - 2010-05-27 2:40 PM I've been avoiding this thread because I've been avoiding thinking about IM. I sprained my ankle last fall. I didn't run for a couple months because as I was about healed from the sprain I underwent sinus surgery and wasn't allowed to do anything active for 5-6 weeks. Once I started running a bit more (as in not much) my ankle started bothering me. It would start being painful after 20-25 minutes and as I ran more, it would start hurting earlier in the run. I got it checked out by a PT/Tri Club buddy and she suggested seeing an Ortho, and also said I really shouldn't run on it till he sees me. Unfortunately I can't see him till the day before High Cliff 1/2 IM in June so I'm either walking the run there or DNFing after the swim and bike. I can walk without pain, as well as ride and swim. Hoping for a good outcome from my appointment with him in June. Worse case is I make sure I can swim and bike fast enough that I have enough time to walk the marathon. Bummer! I hope your appt goes well. June to see a doc??? I know it's the end of of May, but sheesh, this is an emergency! |

I can actually use GE without issue and it's great to mix with Sustained Energy. I have moved away from all PowerBar products as they cause some serious GI and cramping issues. Disappointed in the decision, also disappointed that they don't seem to offer trial packets or powdered form. What the hell was the last paragraph trying to convey??? Something about swimming and dry-clothes tents... It didn't make any sense. |

Something about swimming and dry-clothes tents... It didn't make any sense. What Gatorade used to do was provide an extra transition bag (Dry Clothes) that you can put dry clothes in for when you finish the race, I usually just jam the clothes I wore over my tri short and top that morning into it and a pair of flip flops. That bag would be waiting for you near the finish line, so you can change out of sweaty clothes while hanging out in thie finishers area or just outside of it. It was actually a great idea, and I hope they continue it. Otherwise, I will need my wife to bring me something or we will go right to the hotel to change. No way I'm sitting around in sweaty, snot stained, GU spilled, Perform Drink spilled on clothes for an hour after the race. |

Champion 7163 Verona WI--Ironman Bike Country! | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread Hi All...like Dave I have purposely avoided posting so I didn't have to start thinking about IM WI too soon. I think the time has come to jump on board. Sounds like everyone's training is going fairly well which is great to hear. I'm doing Racine and we got an email yesterday telling us we get a free case of Perform to test out before the race....I'll still plan to carry the same stuff on my bike (Sustained Energy/Hammer Gel), but might think about it for the run....it would be great to dump the fuel belt, but I am skeptical. I have a very touchy gut and Powerbar products have not worked for me in the past. Doing a double loop of the course mid week to get the juices flowing! Train well! |

Something about swimming and dry-clothes tents... It didn't make any sense. I thought the dry clothes bag was referring to the Gatorade swim in the days prior. It mentions "You can clearly still swim at those races but the only events with official Ironman swims will be Arizona and Louisville where swimming is prohibited otherwise." Maybe not but based on the "official Ironman swims" I don't think it was referring to the actual race. I took it as, you can still practice on the course but no one will be there to watch your stuff for you. I can't even imagine what 'legal issues' would have to do with them holding a bag of your clothes when they're accepting several other bags and your infinitely more valuable bike! I could be way off base but that's my thoughts on it. |

Master 1303 Mishicot, Wisconsin | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread I really hope they come out with a powder formula of this new stuff. I rarely do an Ironman event and most of my others are gatorade and I have gotten use to their formula. I am not going to change my drink choice for all my races just for Ironman... that would be stupid. And why did Ironman do this right now instead of the beginning of the season or the end. I feel bad for athletes that have to race coming up really soon on a new product!! |

Master 1222 Lafayette, IN | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread Ok, I pulled the trigger on the Madison OWS on 8/21. I got a room at the Hampton Inn on Commerce Pkwy. I wanted use motel points and this one was as close in as I could get. Hopefully it will be a good location for the bike ride. The downtown Hilton was full, as was my IMWI motel, the Holiday Inn Express on John Nolen. Now, it would be really cool if a group of us could get together that weekend for some swimming and riding! My training plan calls for 1.5 hours of swimming and 6 hours of riding. I am bringing my wife who is really cool, but doesn't race so if anyone wants to hang with her, we can set it up. She plans on eating off the Farmers' Market downtown and getting comfortable with the area so she is ready to be an unofficial photographer at IMWI. |

Master 1376 Chicago | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread I am in for the swim. Not sure what my training will be for that day. Based on this last weekend and seeing what my coach had people training for LP doing, I have a feeling it will be a monster day for me. It will just be me coming up. Not sure if I'll stay over night or just drive up the morning of. It will only take me 2 1/2 hours to get up there on Saturday morning. |
