*takes jaw up off floor*

I have to agree with the two above me, renting a bike that you haven't ridden before is just adding another chance for not completing the race. If you can afford to have the money tied up for a bit I'd suggest purchasing a new bike and then selling it after IMFL to recoup most of the cost. This way you'd get to train and race on something nice and not have to shell out the full cost. Then there's always the used option, which again as the other two above me said, should be pretty plentiful this time of year.

Best of luck.

"I say go for it....pick a bright color so logo shows well.

I like the '08 wicking shirt more than '09 as the material was slightly different if I can make the suggestion.

Hat's would rock...I'd get both.

They are great shirts."

Can I just request no orange this year? Sorry, but down here in Texas we have the Longhorns and the Aggies. Being an Aggie, I hate orange. But bright is good!

I am actually thinking that the new trend is hot pink (see CEP socks), and that would actually be a bit of a trendsetter....

Oh come on even an aggy can tell the orange from last year wasn't the same as burnt orange Tongue out Maybe we can work on a brightly colored maroon shirt?

Ok...I got to chime in on this one.  I like ORANGE...I'm a TN fan!!  Now, last years shirt was more flouresent orange.  I'm jumping on the pink bandwagon...that would definitely stand out...

I too was not that hip on the fabric last year...seemed a bit different than most dry fit t's.  Sure this will all be debated over the next several months as we get more people chiming in.

On another note, I thought it would be fun to try these p90x videos everyone raves about...well, after 2 days I'm hurting!  I thought I was in good shape too...I go to the gym...oh no, I'm sore in places I'm usually not sore...think I like it...

I can do Orange as long as its bright as heck VolsFan

Glad to see when folks do other core and body stuff than just the tri-sports. Suffering like that has to help down the road bro. Lots of debates about it, but I know my upper and lower body and core strength was important to me during previous race days.

Well, if we've got a couple of guys jumping on the hot pink bandwagon, then maybe that should be our color! I could also go with a bright lime green. That would stand out well.

Our muscles get so use to the swim, bike, run motions, that when we do anything that uses other muscles, we feel it.

I like hot pink

In past years we did royal blue and last year orange so I think we should skip those colors.

I like hot pink and or lime green.  Is there anyway the Beginner Triathlete logo could be smaller and put in a different place than last years shirt? Down by the right hip would look nice. If it has to be up higher then it needs to be a lot smaller. As much as I love BT, I felt awkard walking around an IM event with a HUGE Beginner Triathlete logo on the front of my shirt. Just my 2 cents

I'm thinking that I've seen lots of lime green shirts at various events.  I think it's one of the 'go-to' colors if you want to be seen, but it's fairly popluar.

I could go with the logo being in the upper left front, and a little smaller.  That's not to say I'm not proud to sport the BT logo.    I raced in 08 in my BT gear and plan to race in it again this year.  It sure is fun to be part of the BT 'team.'   Lots of folks recognized the kit and cheered me on during the race, and I really appreciated the support.

I figure if I've trained with you-guys ,and I've trained enought to rightfully be participating in an Ironman event, then anyone who has a problem with the beginner part, just isn't thinking right, or is just a jerk.  Who cares what they say anyway.  If they think I'm 'just a beginner' then talk to me at the finish line!

That said, I am really just a beginner.  This is only my second one.     Two does not an expert make.

I already run around in lycra and spandex so I'm down with the hot pink t-shirts too. It will definitely stand out that's for sure.

I just thought that maybe we could get CEP to do some kind of deal with us if we buy in bulk their compression hot pink socks? Perhaps they would sponsor the shirts if their name was on it? Just think of the hot pink wherever you go! We would totally rock haha

Hi Everyone..

For those that don't know me...I have been in this forum before...as I have attempted and DNF'ed Ironman Florida in 2008 and 2009. I have stayed away from reading this forum until I decided what I would do in 2010. For those that don't know my story...the short version is....I use to be 380lbs...I was 180lbs when I made the first two attempts: 2008 was cut short due to stomach problems. 2009 was ended because I missed the bike cut off by just a bit!

So .. here I am in February 2010. I have lost 16 pounds since IM FL 2009. My goal is a total 40 pound weight loss by the Gulf Coast Triathlon on May 8th, 2010. If I do well at Gulf Coast and make my weight loss goal, I will have the honor of attempting this race again in 2010.

Why am I telling you all this?? If you tell the world, it gives me a little more motivation to succeed and complete my goals!! I hope everyone is doing well in their early base building and I hope that I will see each of you at the start line in November (or maybe you will be at Gulf Coast in May!!)

Thanks for being my "accountability!!

http://www.zorrel.com/catalog/details.aspx?catID=2&pID=122  This is the shirt we did in '08.  Everyone seemed to like this material better but we're limited on colors.  Looks like the only bright color they have is yellow in that style.  As far as the shirt design I was thinking of moving the bt logo to the back and putting the mdot on the front.

I like the idea to swap front and back. I do like the logo you put together that has been on the back.

We did orange last year for IMFL shirts so think it would be best not to do orange again.

I'd go with bright yellow as that fabric from '08 shirt is a lot cooler and wicks better than the '09 shirt.

Here it is:

Pink w/ a black M-dot on front!

The back will have the BT logo w/ the swim, bike, run picture and distance.

And of course, athlete or crew could be on the front or back...

Just a thought...
