My training is taking on a life of it's own, including my own. Meanwhile work is competing for my time. My daughter is 7 months old and trying to crawl. This is such an exciting time!
I know Krisko just did 100 pushups, which is amazing. I'm sure Jeff will be there soon.

Last week I was struggling with training (mentally) then raced on Saturday and got my mojo back.  Bike 36 miles yesterday and got in 21 miles on the bike today and a 6.2 mile run.  Going to try for 200 miles on the bike this week!  And I have my Olympic Tri coming up on the 24th!

Also just did my PU's -- 21,25,21,21,43  --- Another guy in the push up challenge hit 100 today (He is a BTer too - James F).  That darn challenge has taken on a life of its own with over 50 people participating in the challenge.  100 is going to be hard but I will get there after week 6.

The weather has turned for the better here and so has my training mood. Good long rides and the running is picking up. It is about time! No more trainer or treddy for a while. Now its time to go find a few running races to push my running a little without blowing out my knee

Leaving tomorrow morning for Galveston and then the LoneStar Olympic Triathlon on Saturday morning.  The weather forecast is calling for Thundershowers and wind and I am soooo praying that it holds off until the race is done.  We are staying for the IM 70.3 on Sunday and it will be cool to see some of the fast pros compete!

After this race I am going to take a few weeks hiatus from a training plan.  I am mentally fried right now and need a little break. My workouts have been severely lacking in focus of late and I realized I have been going pretty hard at this for a coupe of years and need a little breather.  Going to hit the weights and do some P90X and Insanity to keep my base.  Then beginning June 21st I will start an new 70.3 - 20 Week Training Plan for the IronStar 70.3 on Nov 7th!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Good luck Jeff and I hope the weather does hold for you. I also hope that even though your not hitting the Tri training you keep up the posts to the page.

Hey guys ... Well, had a fun weekend.  Unfortunately the swim portion of my Oly Tri on Saturday got cancelled due to extremely high winds.  We ended up doing a Duathlon.  Since I've already done a couple of Du's this year i was a little grumpy about the situation but understand that cancelling the swim was the safe thing to do.

Here is my rather uninspired, ho-hum RR if anyone is interested: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=205200

Hello all, I have crawled out from under my rock. Interesting topic the weather. Sorry your swim got cancelled Jeff but the weather also caused a once in a lifetime event to occur. I ran a 5k this last weekend and in east Texas it was still storming as I headed to the race. Only about 115 people total showed up and my time of 32:34 was enough to ge me third in my aren't you old enough to know to get out of the rain age group. Even scarirer I was 15th across the line overall I also won a pair of Brooks glycerin 8's. So good weekend overall.

100 Push Ups Done and Done!

My arms are so sore from it that I don't care if I do another push up ever again.

Lance, how many are you up to now?  I can mark you off as one of the 100 PU folks right?

Jeff,

I only was able to do 92, my left shoulder has been bothering me and I don't want to mess up my swims.  I am still doing pus-ups I have just backed my sets off to a max of 25 for now.

Well the "fun" tri I am going to do to prepare for Sco Tri has decided to reverse the order of things-Run, bike, swim. I am still doing it, but don't feel like it will help me near as much as before. But I am doing a one mile fun run next weekend to help push my running up a notch as well

Did the fun run and was the fifth person to finish. I am worried because as it gets closer to the races I am struggling more with my training. I need to find something to push me back from the edge.

Are you lacking motivation? Have you tried a training group? I find that social runs, rides, and swims really brighten my outlook.

Its a combination of weather and feeling a bit isolated from training partners. I have had to cover so many sports things over the past few weekends and that s when my training partners can work out that I feel left behind. The fun run helped, I was able to go take photos and then run, but headed off to cover four more baseball games. I will ride tommorow as it is suposed to be great weather

I want to celebrate the fact that this morning I did all three parts of the tri and the total distance needed to complete one. I did do the run before the bike ride because I am a stronger rider and wanted to make sure I didn't come home after the ride and blow off the run. I feel great and stoked. These weren't true brick as there was ample time between to regroup, but just do do the entire distances in one compact morning workout gives me hope

after trying several training suppliments, I finally found one that works for me without causing stomach upsets or heart burn. Today when ready to bonk just a mile and a half from the turn around point and just before a major climb my riding friend offered me her sports beans. Tassty and I finished the ride with good power. I will be buying more and making sure I replace hers as well

That's a cool avatar pic Terry!

All is well here in hot and humid Houston.  I am getting fat (gained 11 lbs in two weeks!) and am enjoying a few weeks of rest and recovery.  I've only worked out maybe  6 or 7 times since my HIM two weeks ago.  My wife and I just joined a LifeTime Fitness that makes Super WalMart look tiny and I am going to start doing the Master's swim program there next week.  The new training program begins on June 21st and I should be more than ready to jump into it with both feet.  Keep me posted on how your training is going and I can't wait to hear about the reverse tri.
