Morning kids!  More snow here for today.  Such fun.

I'm off to take Liam to the doctor for his follow up appt.  Then a long trainer ride while watching Biggest Loser.  Better than last week when I ate a ton of crap while watching the show!  Kind of funny.

I am also starting my weight loss quest today.  I need to drop at least 5 pounds.  Today is the day!

crimefighter2 - 2010-02-15 9:35 AM Hi gang,
sorry I have been AWOL.  Work has been kicking my tail.  so has the snow packed roads and bitter cold.  It's no fun running in the dark on snow pack.  I finally got another run in on Friday (had the day off for Lincoln's Bday, have today off for Pres. Day)  I hope to get my run in today - but the kids are home....can't really leave a 6 y/o in charge of the 5 and 2.5 year old.    My schedule (training for a half) calls for 4-5 hills....not sure how far I am supposed to run, but it's 1.1 miles or so to the hill, so I guess I'll get at least 3 in?  On a good note, before taking my dw out for dinner on Sat. we stopped at body n sole and I picked up a new pair of Brooks - adrenaline - after having my gait analyzed.  Said I pronate, but not much.  I guess that is good.

I have run with brook adrenaline for 3 yrs and love them!..on that note I had my gait analyzed at the expo last weekend and they showed I supinate too much with my orthotics(turn out) so they gave me brooks defyance but I didn't like the way they felt, took them back yesterday and had them analyze my gait in a few different pairs and ended up with asics..don't remember the kind but they look like spiderman! Had to get them in a mens because of the toe box. Will run tonight at the petit and see how they feel.

ebshot - 2010-02-15 5:22 PM Hit the trainer this afternoon.  The plan was to do an hour and a half.  I made it 45 minutes.  Just wasn't feeling it.  Then I also realized that I cannot run tomorrow (kids don't have school) so I am on the trainer again tomorrow.  Take 2 at the 1:30 ride.

enjoy the ride!

KOM - 2010-02-15 5:29 PM Hola Huggers!  It's been an interesting on call weekend indeed.  Too many pages on Sat but I got an 8 mi run in- just interrupted off the dreadie every 5-30 minutes. Squeezed in a swim (love goal) on Sunday afternoon....then spent from midnight to 6 am in the ER with my hubby as he tried to pass yet another kidney stone....then the pager started going off again at 9 this morning.  Between calls and taking care of the hub I was ALMOST shut out of the pool again.....but not quite! Did enough to make it count for the goal.  Teaching a spin class tonight from 7:30-9.  Doing Jorge's wk 8 q3 (4 x 12.5' intervals at increasing watts) as all NOLA Mardi Gras stuff, then I plan to collapse.  No office hours tomorrow yay!  Hoping to get in 4 swims this week so I will have only 1 left for the last week of the month.

wow what a weekend! Hope hubby is doing better.

Sorry to hear about the hubby.  What a way to spend Valentine's evening, eh?   Hope it's the last one for him...

30 minutes on the stationary.  Started out at low resistance and worked my way up to about half of maximum resistance in 3 minute increments.  Slowly strengthening the knee...

happy to hear the knee is holding up!

I'm trying to make decisions today... Every August a group of us to the Cayuga Lake Tri, here in the Fingers Lake in NY. Last summer was the first time I attempted the Oly and although I know the weather had some to do with it, the run did NOT go well. It was more a lack of training on my part. But it really bummed me out for a while... Now I'm trying to decide whether to kick butt at the Sprint or try for redemption at the Oly. My husband is trying to tell me that if I can do my sprint in a day in February, there's certainly enough time to train for the Oly by August. But I admit I'm scared... I do not like running, it's just a necessary evil to me. Anyway, the race is filling up and I need to make a decision soon. I've decided that today I just need to do it and sign up for one. Ugh, decisions!

On the training front today, I have a short run planned for the afternoon and then a trainer ride tonight. We got a new 50" TV in the basement last night so watching the Olympics on the trainer tonight will be very up close and personal!

Have a great Tuesday HUGS!!

I would do the oly again...but that is just me. I NEED the challenge to push me or I would just slack off. BUT if you are really doing tris because they are fun, then maybe the sprint so you can relax?  hmmmm I guess I didn't help much! Enjoy the trainer ride!

x3... same story.  I crossed the finish line at my HIM in September and yelled, "NEVER AGAIN"... then I went and signed up for the Syracuse Ironman 70.3 two weeks later.  Us triathletes are gluttons for punishment!

Today I was going to get up early and hit the trainer for 45 minutes.  However, I turned off the alarm and closed my eyes for "just a second"... next thing I know I'm running late for work.  So the revised plan was to head over to the Y for a spinning class from 11:50-12:30, but that may be impossible.  I have meetings from 11-12 and 1-2.  I'm getting a bike workout in today, one way or another.

Today was the real test to see if my "keester" is back to 100%... I did a 45 min spin class at lunch and was relatively pain free...  So I shall continue to "get my BUTT in gear" and will finish this month's "true love" (Running) at 100% of goal or more.  I'm at 25 miles on my goal of 60 miles for the month, so missing those 6 days of training didn't set me back too much.  Go hugs!!!

How's the kidney stone situation? One of my coworkers had one, and said the pain was worse than being in labor....

Kidney stone situation appears to have "passed".  Unfortunately he has been getting them since age 30 (actually admitted on his 30th bday...at least he got some good drugs) this was our 4 th ER trip with the last being 7-8 yrs ago.  Just hard to manage at home if he can't keep anything down.  My college age daughter also has them...got her first and thus far only after Cross Country season as a Junior in HS! Glad it's a new week!!
