Hey Stacie and Paul et al, thanks so much for the photo preservation tips--I'm going to go a-huntin' tomorrow in Bali and see what's available. my sister just happens to be a high-end magazine publisher so she might have an idea ... also I'm sure one CAN get such things in Jakarta, I just wouldn't know where to start.

Ha ha ha Paul ... about a book ... that would make the SEVENTH I'm working on. I need to ditch the ADHD and focus on one of them. I think it'll be those photographs in tandem with a heavily edited translation of my father's autobiography. So, uh, two.

My father's mind is really slipping away (from end-stage chronic illnesses, all his organs are in pretty poor shape) and he just assumes my mother took them, except that many of them are taken well before they met and wed.

My mother as I said, really doesn't remember anything about anything ... she's still pretty good with her childhood stuff, that's about it. She almost always recognizes one of her children from the other but she has no idea what age we are. So she's no help with the photos.

So I'm kind of on my own. This will be an exciting adventure! You can only imagine my awe and the gasps when I started looking through those photographs.

With your sister in publishing, she might even be able to ask around to see if there is anyone interested in doing a book. That is soo cool. Can you tell I'm into family history stuff. We have some cool family stories, but nothing like this. They're all about skeleton's that have been pulled out of the closet.

You might want to try a project that my wife did with her grandparents before they died. She spent some time just talking about their lives but she had a tape recorder so she could record it and do a book. Once you've transcribed it, there are online companies that will publish it for you for pretty cheap. She did one about her mother's life last year and printed copies for her family. The books were about $11 each if I remember right. Cost varies by size, style, number of pictures, but we were surprised how really inexpensive it can be.

dimplespoo - 2010-10-06 10:24 AM Good morning team. It is 57* this morning in Oklahoma and it is time for me to put on the running shorts and go for the run I skipped last night.

Have a good one.

Stacie

Good morning, Stacie!  Have a great run!  Hopefully, it's at least dry in Oklahoma...

We are dry in Oklahoma. Not sure what I was thinking but skull cap and long sleeves with shorts was TOO warm - fast run but struggled at the end and it was only 3.

Sounds like the perfect running weather. Enjoy your run and be safe.

It was perfect - just a few too many clothes for me (should have opted short sleeves instead of long). Was safe - I have a .7 mile loop around my neighborhood of 15 homes. So I just stay close to home. We are off the beaten path so I didn't see anyone except for the guy putting up a shed behind my house.

Oh Stacie what a PIGLET PUP in the Pics thread ... you can SEE how soft his fur is!!!

Thanks Yanti - so not a photographer but loved that pic of him. His brother that we lost earlier this year LOVED to be photographed. I am hoping this one has that as well. Here is the one I absolutely love but didn't know if it fit the "shadow" theme.

BTW - I have stared at your picture for hours this morning. It is SOOOO cool.
