Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks, swimsoft Now, there were 28 racers, so take this with a giant grain of salt, but I got third in my age group! There were probably only three of us, but I still got to go home with a medal Got myself Ben & Jerry's Pumpkin Cheesecake ice cream on my way home |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() Week Totals: S: 2250.00 Yd 1h 10m R: 9.69 Mi 1h 51m 07s Last week was a bit rough and didn't get nearly the training in that I hoped. However, my swims saw the lowest heart rate for the same pace that I have seen, close to 8 beats a minute compared to my mid-December measures. My body also feels great, no aches and pains. I am trying to mentally make myself feel better about it by saying the rest was helpful... This week I am excited to FINALLY get on my new bike, 2011 Trek 2.3, which just got fit yesterday and is now in my posession. I've attached a picture of Irina (yes, she already has a name) if you have any interest. (IMG_0137.jpg) Attachments ---------------- IMG_0137.jpg (38KB - 4 downloads) |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I must admit, the Salem indoor tri was so fun I'm considering the Nashua indoor tri despite limited finances. It's March 18--would anyone else be interested in doing a tri the day after St. Pat's? If anyone will join me, I will... Congrats on the new bike!! She's lovely Shellback, I'm glad you posted Christie Wellington's article--I just saw it yesterday and loved it. She knows what she's talking about, too. Anyone else watch the end of Kona? Mental toughness isn't the half of it--that woman is made of stainless steel. And such an awesome smile too. |

Chris That'd be awesome, Chris! They say they're going to run this one in a more standard format: distance is fixed, so time is the determiner. Still short, though: 9 laps, 12 miles and a 5k. Anyone else? C'mon...you know you want to! The first one was so much fun and if we have several of us there, it would be even better. |

My workout for the day!
Had a nice 13 mile run yesterday so the legs are a little spent. How's the recovery going Chelsea? |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok the last time I checked, there were 20 people who asked to join this group. Since then, only like 6-8 people have contributed frequently. So, I put it on you Ladies and Gentlemen. You joined for a reason. what was that reason? Don't be shy! Ask questions...

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Also, if any of you have Facebook. I created a group on there as well. It's called Shellback1998 BT Group, so if you would like to join, email me at [email protected] and I'll give you my Facebook Account name, then you can send a friend request, and I will invite you to the group. I created this group upon completion after my first year of mentoring last year. Great group of people there as well.

I want to know so I can train vicariously Yesterday was 2:15 on the trainer. Good effort. Today was 45 minutes on the trainer at 101 cadence in zone one followed by a one hour 6.5 mile run outside. 68 degrees on the trainer, 18 degrees and breezy outside. I toweled off and changed into cold gear but to say I was never warm is an understatment. Two days and four hours of training out of the way for the week. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Swimsoft, are you still able to bike and swim? I thought you'd said you were allowed to. Do you have to slow down? How's it going? I never thought I would say this, but I'm jonesing to run. Today is next-to-last PT, then there shouldn't be any limits! Yes, I'll try to be reasonable. Late in the game, I know, but the last week and a half, I started the Winter Heart Rate Cycling Plan from this site. Anyone used it before? Thoughts? Also, this has always been a problem, but with less to distract me indoors, it's more frustrating: my hands go numb on the bike fairly quickly--within the first 30-45 minutes. I've got decent gloves, the bike was fit to me...am I doomed to keep shaking out my hands continually? I have had carpal tunnel syndrome in the past, so perhaps that's just enough extra difficulty...? I completed the swim workout I couldn't finish the first time and got interrupted the second time! I tried it at two seconds over per 100, but I kept going under that easily, so next time, I'm going to try it at 1 second over. I love swimming! |

Sounds like you might be holding the handle bars to tightly. Try to loosing up a bit and see if that helps |

I have had carpal tunnel syndrome in the past, so perhaps that's just enough extra difficulty...? Do you have the first type of aero bars or the second (roughly)? The difference is the first type look much sleeker but put pressure on your wrists because the bend furthest out goes out. If I use these my hands go numb. The second type the bend goes up. I use these and have no issues with numbness. The little difference in resistance isn't worth it to me. I don't use either of these brands there just the best images I could find. |

Did you stay late? I got in 3000 in 60 minutes and was done. I was coming off of a couple of big workouts and the 100's and 50's in the middle were fast. Once we got to the end and it was all kick drills my legs were screaming pass. |

![]() | ![]() So i've just been keeping up with the lifting and swimming. Went for a bike ride the other day and a solid 15mph cross wind and a dick of a car driver caused me to go head over heals with my bike. I have some nice road rash so thats going to keep me out of the pool for a few days while I heal up a bit. Probably just stick with lifting in the mean time. Really trying NOT to push it just yet. I'm starting to feel some sore spots mainly in my right shoulder blade that i'd like to not get worse before actually training kicks in. |

Yes today's work outs where tough... I did about 500 yards around 5 this morning. Then went into the hot tub, as my legs are still shot from running 13 miles on Sunday. I did an additional 200 of pulls during the warm down this morning. |
