Yes!! I hate forgetting random crap when you get all the way to the gym locker room to discover it.  I may have worked out commando a time or two.  Or sockless.  Now that REALLY sucks.

Dollar - you better tell us your news soon.  I'm dying here.  Oh, and I want to see your blog.

Ok, so my run last night was shorter than planned, but realistically longer than I thought I would go.  I think my new goal is to go 10 min. longer than the day before until I build back up.

I have class tonight, so the run will be late.

Morning everyone.   I had such a great swim last night. The first in a long time!! I couldn't believe how fast I was going. Honestly. Wowza.  I have started mixing things up a little and doing different strokes (Whatcho talkin' 'bout Willis?" I am really bad at breastroke (eek) so I thought to myself. What if I did 25 crawl, then came back with 25 backstroke, flipped and started all over again.  Wow. What a workout. You should try it!!! I could really feel it when I was done.

Be careful to not push yourself too quickly.  Running too much too quickly is the easiest way to get hurt.  Listen to your body.

Great job!!!!  I frequently mix in other strokes and kicks in between my sets.  Plus they give yours shoulder a bit of a break.  For cool down I almost always do 25 front crawl, 25 back, 25 breast, 25 kick on my back.

Thank you. I think on my longer swims I will breastroke more - God knows I have the boobs for it. Hahahhaha.   Even though today was my rest day I spun at the gym for 20 minutes and tried out the rowing machine. I rowed 2000m in 14 minutes. My whole body actually feels quite good right now - Will that still be the same tomorrow though?  Just felt good to try something different..

This brings up an interesting point.  Listening to your body is fundamental to this sport.  That doesn't mean if you have a little ache or soreness you should take the day off.  What it means is that overtraining is BAD.  It is better to be 10% undertrained than 1% overtrained.  It is very easy to get caught up and overtraining but the body needs rest (mine right now).  Recovery time is when you body actually makes significant performance gains.

pssstt.....I just released some new details on my announcement in my blog.

No I didn't pick up a sponsor for the year (next year....maybe)
I doubt there is any Kona in my future
I have yet to hire a coach...though I am leaning toward it.

Instead, I made a long term investment by taking out a mortgage for a new toy.

Does anyone here have any knowledge on Javelin bikes?  I just got an email from them and some of the prices are just outstanding.

Nope.  There are a few BTers who ride Javelin.  The lack of information is what bothers me about the company.  I think the discounted prices are great...but I can't find enough reviews or info to feel completely comfortable with them (and their website is awful).  I am considering building one of their road frames at the end of the year for a pet project.

I believe tri pro Michael Lovato rides a Javelin Barolo

Their website is horrible. No info or anything on the bikes. I think I'll stick to my original Specialized plan.

Blisters = ouch. I have one of my hand from rowing at the gym. That's only 30 minutes worth! Eh??????  They really do suck, seem to take forever to heal. Garg!

I have a short swim tonight with a friend. She's doing her 1st tri this August so she wants to watch me swim and practice stroke/breathing etc. Should be fun - I think.

OK - I went to the hospital this morning for an endiscopy and colonoscopy.  They are still trying to find out what is wrong with my stomach.  They took biopsy's from both "internal visits".  I won't get thw results back for a week or so, so it is a little waiting game.

Positive news is  - no colo-rectal cancer.  I was really concerned about this.  There were no pollups at all in my colon, so that is pretty cool.  The other good part is that I didn't feel a thing.  They call it conscious sedation, but the prep for the procedure is rather brutal, covering 2 days of very little sleep and no nutrition at all, so once they gave me the meds, I was out like a light until it was over and I was in recovery for an hour.

As far as training goes, I feel like  have a lack of strength due to the nutrition aspect, but I will power through and do what I have to in order to complete my races in April and early May.  I think my time goals have changed, but I will continue to keep my goals for my "A" race (Hy-Vee Triathlon).  We'll see how it goes.

Nice pickup Drew.  I loved my QR.

The first thing you need to do is get it to a reputable bike shop to get inspected just in case there are minor repairs needed.  Then, and MOST importantly, you need to find some one to fit you on it.  Spend the money to get dialed in properly on the bike and it will go a LONG way during the season....especially in your HIM.
