Come join our reindeer games! Perfect! Meeting spot? I would love in! |

I have a slingox so I just need a wifi connection - my Hotel may have one, but I'm not sure where I'll go.. Think I can spend 4 hours at starbucks? |

Extreme Veteran 353 New York | Subject: RE: Ironman USA Lake Placid : Official Thread em73, thanks for volunteering, and I hope you have a healthy start in a future IM. Weather, yeah, of course it could change. I don't mind if it rains, and will be overjoyed if it's not hot! |

Subject: RE: Ironman USA Lake Placid : Official Thread trizee - 2010-07-16 11:50 AM Dream Chaser - 2010-07-16 8:56 AM DC: I appreciate the extended forecast, but we all know how accurate weatherman/woman and the radar are. 2008- Saturday's forecast for Sunday was "scattered showers" - a monsoon and 15+ hours and 8" of rain later the race came to a soggy end. I just hope what you have posted is correct. What? The weather people were wrong?? The weatherman is never wrong!! Next your gonna tell me this course has hills and I shouldn't run sockless. How nice would it be if that forecast were right. |

Come join our reindeer games! Saturday morning I'll be at the North Pole having breakfast with Santa (seriously). And then 2 o'clock on I'll be in the hotel, upside down on the bed with my legs against the wall watching 80's movies. Bueller? Bueller....? |

Then you get in & stay in behind a row of flags until the start at 7am. After the swim that wetsuit comes right off and you carry it with you to T1. They don't allow a warm up before the pros go? I'm still reading through the guide...so I haven't read about warm ups Ohhhhh! I have no idea. I guess for me my IM pace isn't such that I require any warm up. My warm up pace would be my IM pace! So I don't bother. I don't really want to do anything more than walk there, i'll be expending enough energy during the day that i don't even want to expend 100 calories worth! |

Extreme Veteran 398 Sea Isle City, NJ | Subject: RE: Ironman USA Lake Placid : Official Thread Marvarnett - 2010-07-16 8:42 AM Oh...and get there early the next morning to get your swim picture. You have to sort through them yourself. Do you mean online or onsite somewhere? Aren't they all in the package you buy? I also looked up bib numbers for people who finished "close" to the same swim time I had and looked through their photos online to see if I was in any before I bought the package. One other note about pictures is I spent about $80 at a shop on 73 down near the horse grounds (can't remember the name) on a 16X40 panoramic photo of the swim start. I had it framed and it is awesome. It has the IMLP logo on it as well. |

Master 2621 Mechanicsburg, PA | Subject: RE: Ironman USA Lake Placid : Official Thread My frame came in today. So tomorrow morning I’ll be driving to Westminster, MD to pick it up then spend the afternoon rebuilding the bike. Now this is a weird question. Maybe it is a DC type question. Does my bike keep the same name or because I changed frames does it get a new name? |

When Whizzzzz had to get a new frame due a crack in her Orbea named 'Fabian' she got a slightly different frame back, and because of the change, it is now named 'Spartacus'. It's the same, but it's different, see? |

Maybe it's "like a pet". You should give it a few days and then name it based on certain things it does to warrant that name. |

We're here in Arnold Maryland all safe and sound. Bike is all put together and up at Bike Doctor getting a quick tune up to make sure we're all good to go. It's been 1.5 years since I've been in a bike shop and wow do I miss them. Checked out the new rides and just browsed. I'll go back later and just suck in the bike shop smell. Now it's starting to feel real. I live about 10 minutes from Arnold. Let me know if you want access to a pool (guest pass) or want to do a tuneup ride. Or if you need anything else that only a tri-crazy would have and your host doesn't, shoot me a PM or call four4three8five4three0four9. |

I actually took an hour ride up route 2 early this morning and I have access to the Naval Academy pool. Looks like I only have one other 1hr ride before I head up to LP, but if I need anything I'll definitely give you a call. I'll definitely pick your brain about the area as the wife wants to take orders to the Academy and the last time I lived here I wasn't into tri's yet. |

Expert 1023 Malvern, England | Subject: RE: Ironman USA Lake Placid : Official Thread Ooh - loads to catch up on this thread. I'm struggling to find my normal computer time cos my mum and dad have flown over from UK and I'm busy with them. I'm so excited that they will see this IM (and see me racing for first time) Anyway, I am going up on my own on Friday for registration etc and family not arriving til Sat afternoon. So, if people are meeting for the Friday dinner I'd love to join you and meet some BTers. Where and when and how do we know it's the BT group? I may also be in for a swim Sat morning. I only have a full wetsuit so it's going to be full if wetsuits allowed and normal bathing suit if not. As for w/u whoever asked - although there's a lot of people in the water, towards the back and sides you can find a few yards to swim and just treading water also warms you up. This is what I did last time and then with 5mins to go I edged over to the spot I wanted to start at. |
