Dudes, my swim is so slow that I swim 50 yards in 90 seconds.

Yes.  It takes me a full minute and a half to swim 50 yards.

Sigh.

I forgot to add (sleepy here) that I am also a big fan of active recovery, but here am just having major sleepy problems.  I think it REALLY hurt that I had family visiting and instead of recovery after tri, I was running around like a madwoman everywhere in NYC and only got 4.5 to 5 hours of sleep a night.

Sigh.  Now I am backlogged on sleep.  And despite stretching my legs were like logs.  I woke up in the middle of the night one night this week and felt like I was walking on stiff boards!

More sleep needed after tri - not running around with family.

TrevorC, I am on a training plan with TNT, but I can easily take a few days off.  I do not have Westchester tri (olympic) scheduled until September 27 anyway.

Thx. :-)

yours truly and thanks for advice,

I figured I would try the no ipod thing.

with a glass of choco milk.

I forgot to comment earlier about that...I have only worn an mp3 player once (no I don't own an ipod).  It was to listen to a neighbor town in the state championship basketball game.  Hated it.

And thanks for bringing up the choc milk...now I have to go the kitchen and get a little swig.

"Who's Carl?"  Are you f'in kidding me?!?!?!

TrevorC - 2009-07-30 8:02 PM Wife and kids are out at the cabin until Sunday.....So went for a run and swim after work.
I figured I would try the no ipod thing. I had only planned for 5k so no big deal. I don't remember the last time I ran without someone with m, or without my ipod. I know you guys were talking about it a few pages ago. I really tried to focus on my breathing and hitting the ground on my 4th step and exhaling. I had a great run which made me think that maybe sometimes when I wear the ipod I'm not really listening to my body. Kept the Garmin on though. Can't go completely cold turkey on technology.
Justing eating a little tuna melt with a glass of choco milk. Quiet house...life is good.

Isn't a quiet house just magical!  I love the mornings when I am home and the kids are at preschool/school (this fall).  I really appreciate the silence and being able to hear my own thoughts!

Correct me if I'm wrong Sandy, but if I kill all the golfers, they're gonna lock me up and throw away the key...

I love that movie!  And it wasn't until Old School came out that you got another great movie to quote from.  Smile

I may be a dumb Canadian for asking, but who is Carl?

Nope, we can't chalk that one up to dumb Canadian's.  I had no idea either. Outside of Cars, Nemo, Monsters Inc., Ratatouille, etc... I might watch 3 movie's a year.  Must be nice to sit home Fall morning's and dream about cupcakes. ;-)

We are finally getting around to having my husband's 40th birthday party this weekend.  As a gift to him I composed this poem about what it is like racing at 40.  I thought you guys might get a kick out of it.

So it’s your fortieth birthday; four decades have passed .

They say when you get older time goes twice as fast.

I wouldn’t know, of course, since I am still quite young,

But for you, the music’s not over; your last song hasn’t been sung.

Turning 40 brought with it a new age group,

Men with hairy backs in tight spandex suits.

But you’ve stayed in the game, it isn’t time to fold

A podium finish you’ve still to hold.

Up way before dawn, bike on the rack,

Standing in potty lines with the rest of the pack.

The water’s too warm.  Damn, no wet suit again.

You’re passed by a kayak, you never could swim.

Finally to shore, there’s a leech on your toe.

“Just give me my bike and get me away from this water hell hole.”

Off on the road no one can stop you

Crap was that Whaley? Don’t worry; you’ll pass him at mile 2.

Bunny hopping speed bumps, powering up hills,

A focused determination and a power output to kill.

Certain parts are starting to hurt; your hands are going numb.

Back at the start, it’s now time to run.

Where are you legs? You’ve left them somewhere.

You look down to check and see if they’re still there.

Running is a major pain in the a**

Gus are giving you the wrong kind of gas.

Passed on the left.

Passed on the right.

Sprayed by a hose, you’ll finish by night.

Just passed by Paul; caught in the run

“Come back Paul, you said this was fun.”

Volunteers keep saying you look great.

Liars!!!  What will be your fate?

You can walk the course if need be,

Heck, you can’t beat Paul but for sure will beat Tracy.

Oops there’s the camera man, gotta look cool,

Even though you’ve involuntarily started to drool.

There’s seaweed on your face, blood on you knees

Sunburn on your shoulders and you look like you’ve gotta pee.

Two miles away, the finish line is near,

The purpose for the race is coming quite clear.

At the end, it seem everyone is your fan

You busted it, you’ve joined the elite clan.

With energy like that pink bunny

You make us look lazy, that’s not funny!

If you manage to forget

We’ll remind you don’t you fret.

I have known you for quite a while

When you talk you make me smile

A special friend, I will probably keep

If on my birthday I get some race wheels to keep!

Happy birthday young at heart

And smile with joy you old fart!

I really need to get out.  So Cars, Nemo, right?  But I'm not sure about the 3rd reference.

I've been caught quoting The Penguins of Madagascar at work twice this week.  I told a co-worker yesterday "That smells fishy" in reference to a partial invitee list of middle managers to a series of working group meetings.

Thanks guys.  I must admit I "borrowed" some of the phrases from stuff off the internet, then I wove them together and personalized it. It was a lot of fun and a nice distraction when I was suppose to be working. You know how that goes....

So work food update ...

Yesterday AM - Krispy Kreme breakfast.  I took my yogurt and no donuts although the smell was overwhelmingly good when I walked in.

Lunch - small basket of yummy cookies, blondies, lemon bars, etc..  I picked up an extra half of sandwich and made it out of the lunch meeting unscathed.

3pm Birthday cupcakes - at 2pm I was starving so I grabbed a skim Misto from Starbucks (about 90 cal/0 fat) and a peach.  I walked into the office where those little buggers sat and stared at them the whole time.  Amazingly I wasn't hungry (which didn't necessarily stop me in the past) but also I DID NOT want one.  I couldn't believe.  It wasn't even hard to avoid the temptation.

I'm not sure what happened to me.  I must be getting sick.  I even avoided the cupcakes the kids made a home.  Tony and I went out to a late light dinner and finished the meal w/ a bowl of 3 golf ball size scopps of gelato.  It was tasty and satisfying and a very respectable size.  I ate it b/c I wanted to enjoy a treat not b/c I saved myself for it or felt it was ok b/c I had avoided the other stuff.

Anyway we'll see if it's a turning point or just a fluke.  Smile

Since we are being very productive this morning....here are a few more great movie quotes.  See if you can identify them.

1.  If you have any problems, dial information. Thank you for calling.

2. The twins keep us on Centarian time. It's a 37 hour day. Give it a few months, you'll get used to it, or you'll have a psychotic episode.

3. Think big, think positive. Never show any signs of weakness.  Always go for the throat. Buy low, sell high.  Fear...that's the other guy's problem.

4. Wake up!  Wake up Limy fish!

5. Murdock......I'm coming to get you!

6.  It feels like warm apple pie.

7.  What's taters precious?

8. I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse.

9. Do you like movies about gladiators?

10.  I've got a bad feeling about this.
