Spokes - 2008-05-13 10:44 PM I really had a great intervals ride with the tri club tonight. Took me a while to warm up, the first two were easy, but I lost them a bit on #3, and then between dodging slower riders and joggers on the path, and the curves (I still need to feel more comfortable with my bike handling skills in a pack), I got dropped on #4 and #5. After the rest break though, I stayed with the front group all the way to the end... and I caught our stud Clyde who is a monster on the straights/flats - his thighs are individually bigger than mine put together. I was RIGHT on his azz on #9 and we were doing 28 and if it had been clear ahead I would've dropped him. I was going to lead out and see if I could take the final interval, but we got bunched up behind a couple of azzhats in team gear who wouldn't move over to let us pass on the left.

Ahhhhh... group rides!  I miss them .

The Natchez Trace Century was fantastic this year, Scott.  They are really getting a huge crowd.

Nice ride!

Artemis - 2008-05-14 1:42 PM There is not very good online coverage.  I've been trying to keep up, but it isn't easy.

We looked at getting live stage coverage for the Giro and my understanding is that the TV coverage is not like the Tour - its not as slick and the signal not great so video coverage of the event is not as available...

We've got a little bit of coverage: http://www.sbs.com.au/blogarticle/107852/cavendish-pips-mcewen-in-a-sprinters-showdown

But Id like to see more

I had a great time... just got out of the shower... ah, I love a fresh body shave... I feel so clean... and so free.

But I need an extra pair of hands to rub on the body lotion, you know...

LOL!

Woo hoo!  Hornets win!  Chris Paul and David West are amazing!

I did notice the cameras at the Giro were seriously spotty.  Even when simply showing Z lying on the side of the road  Can't believe we don't get to see him TT the rest of the Giro.  I still love some Bob Roll, though.  Wish we got him more than once a week.

Yeah, at least with the Versus coverage we get Bob.

The coverage was really bad. I guess they just don't have very many cameras out on the course. I'd be happy with a good website that covers it and gives story recaps if you didn't get to watch the whole stage.

Velonews has a live update tracker.  It's just text, but it looks like they give an update ever 5 minutes or so.

Morning NIbbs...

Right there with ya Jenn... I'm not motivated for much of anything though... Well, I might be motivated to workout if it didn't include getting up at 5:00 this morning... yep, just didn't have it in me to do it... so I slept in until 6:15.

got nothing done at work yesterday, except creating that "dream" spin room... now I've got to get the nose to the grind   UGH!!!

Hey Sal... If you run out of projects there's plenty at my house   Let's see.. till the garden, fix hallway ceiling (hole from swamp cooler that was taken out almost two years ago), paint master bed & bath, replace carpet,  pour concrete, move sprinkler heads before pouring concrete...
I think perhaps I should take a sebatical from work.

Oh, great.  Thanks for reminding me about tilling the garden and painting the master bedroom...

Sigh. I wonder how many times I'm going to have to tell people "look, I can't swim and there's nothing that can be done about that" they'll believe me. Jesus.

If you don't have the ability, you don't. Its as simple as that.

Oh, com'n Scott.  It's more a question of 'do you want to swim?'  If you don't enjoy swimming that's fine...don't swim.  In my case it WAS a matter of 'I CAN'T swim.'  At first, I didn't enjoy learning.  Open water freaked me out and I reasted on a lifeguard float halfway through the swim.  But triathlon has always been on my life list of things I wanted to do.  If the desire's there, you'll make it happen.  It takes WORK though.  I started swimming at 4 min/100 yds 4 years ago.  It's taken 3 times a week in the pool and workouts of at least 800 yards (my workouts now range from 2000 - 4000 yds) to get me comfortable with my swim.  On a good day, I MIGHT swim a single 100 in 1:40.

BUT, if you don't WANT to swim, that is fine.  No one is forcing you to swim, and you can STILL hang out on BT and be accepted regardless of whether you ever do a tri.  But, I would find it hard to believe that you CAN'T swim...

Just an friendly observation...
