D001 - 2008-07-27 11:59 AM Hi Nibbs. The TdF is over. I am going to have withdrawal symptoms....

will the Olympics help to fill the void?

Possibly. It depends upon the coverage.

Im so lucky... I know we get coverage of the cycling events here

Yeah. I'm not sure if we will. Or, if we do, how much there will be.... I'm still hopeful, however. LOL

Im lucky I guess... we are on a pretty good timezone for Beijing and there are two networks sharing the coverage of the event so we will get coverage of a lot of sports that might not otherwise get much time...

Artemis - 2008-07-27 3:47 PM I'm hoping they broadcast some of the less popular sports on the internet. Otherwise, I don't think we'll ever see the 10k OWS race.
Um, well... I'm sure they won't show the whole thing. Can you imagine the ratings if they showed the whole 10k OWS? (I'd watch. Until I fell asleep, that is.)

Well, true.  I would like to watch some of it though.  Doesn't seem like something that will make it into the broadcast.

I couldn't agree with you guys more about the coverage for the Olympics

- I used to LOVE watching the coverage, but now since it seems to be more about the bios and less about the events - it's just not the same

I am looking forward to the Olympics, although I hope the coverage is better than last time.

I date my self when I talk about Olympic coverage. I remember when they would show bits of everything, not just the "popular" sports. And enough with the background info on the athlete. Go read an article if you really want to know. I just like seeing the sport.

We'd get to see way more if they stopped all the extended bios and life stories.  I'm much more interested in watching all the people that compete.

They should at least show the finals in all the sports. I remember seeing the weight lifting, table tennis and much much more. Now we just see the sports they want us to see and tough luck if you are interested in anything else.

But with no cable, I won't be seeing any of the olympics this year. So, i'll stop complaining.

Last time, I saw way more beach volleyball than I ever care to see in my life. I'm sure it was thanks to the little short shorts the girls wear. I noticed less swimming coverage. I often wonder if that is due to the full coverage skinsuits used now. Sad that the female atletes have to show a lot of skin in order to get coverage on tv. I remember thinking that the male beach volleyball players should have to compete in Speedos to kind of "even" the playing field. Misty Mae had to keep yanking her bottoms out of her crack every single play. I'm not watching that crap again.

Maybe the less coverage, the less clothing sand can get in?  Although I guess there is a point of diminishing returns, but I won't complain about that

I'm still partial to the swim chicks.

Hmm... saw the new Batman movie, got the tuxes for the wedding settled, food tasting at the reception place, went to eat at the rehearsal dinner restaurant, first session of counseling with the minister, engagement party for her brother, home by 9 o'clock Sunday night.  Whew... then I actually ran last night.  Zzzzzzzzzzz.....

Great race, Beth.  Algae isn't quite as hot as cholorine  But you smoked that swim and had a GREAT PR!
