WOW! Great! Congrats! Looking forward to your report.

Hey gang!  I just wanted to check in and let you know I survived my race today.  It was by far the hardest course I've competed on to date.  There were a ton of hills on both the running and the bike course.  UGH!  I'll share my race report later.

BTW - I won the Athena division.  I am waiting for race results b/c my fear is that I might have been the only one signed up.  I got a cool trophy though.

Talk to you all soon and catch up on everyone's posts.  I'm taking a rest day tomorrow.  I'm spent!

Perhaps a turkey trot if I can find a short one very close to home. I have to cook the turkey so I can't be gone long.

December 6th I would like to do a 10K but I haven't signed up as I am still having knee issues. It is getting better and treadmill running is definitely helping. If I can get through that perhaps a half marathon in the spring.

There are winter indoor tris that I may check out. Other than that nothing scheduled but my Oly in early June. Many people I know just signed up for the NYC Tri in July but there are dozens of tris I would rather do than that one.

What are the next races we have planned?   How about everyone else?

Wow!  Congratulations.  When you conquer your fears, you don't do it by half-measure.  You just go out and win.  Can't wait to hear the rest.

Hi Guys!

Race Report: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp...

Overall I'm quite happy with my pace and everything. 11:36!

I'm more drained then I expected to be. I went home and took a nap which is unusual for me and I slept very well last night. More DOMS then I expected as well. Must have been all that running on the cement?

Going to take the day off today and rest up a bit.

Love it losta! Very cool.

I'm honing in more on my Half. I emailed the IMcoach and she gave me the "rest" weeks which are the weekends I'm allowed to race that won't interfere with training, so I'm Probably looking at either Racine Half or Door County Half both in Wisconsin on July 18th. Door looks more attractive... I've heard great things about it sounds like better prep for IMOO (Ugh Hills!)

However I don't see a Half Mary on the weekend in May she gave me, so I might have to pass on that.

So nothing on my schedule at all now for awhile!! I was thinking about an 8k in December, but a friend who has done it says it wasn't worth it.

There were 4 Athenas including me!  I'm SO glad I wasn't the only one.  I have to admit it felt good to win. Don't get me wrong.  I'm not dilusional thinking I'm good.  I know I'm a solid Back of the Pack girl.  I guess I felt like the tri gods were smiling on me for not giving up on my swim.  No matter what, it gave me the little extra push I need to start our 20 week plan.

Here is my race report!

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=186232&posts=1#M2494543

My Bro in law did well too.  It is so nice to have a friendly face on the course.  It is also fun to have someone to talk results and the course.  We are starting to recognize people from the other races and splash n dashes.  I have a photo to post but I didn't have time to do it tonight.  I'm TIRED!  I have another race this weekend with a 1000m OWS.  I thought about cancelling but I figure it will be my last tri until February so I might as well get some more practice in.

My man bought me new gear today.  He said "now that I am a champion I should look like one."  (cute)  I got a new helmet, an long sleeve bike jersey, a new tire, my bike gears looked at, and a box of gu.  It felt good, to have some new stuff and to have my man be so supportive!!  We looked at trainers but I need to do more research before I buy.

Thank you for your support along the way!  It is awsome to be a part of this Nutso Group!!

Debb - Way to go!!  I hope you are feeling pretty proud of yourself.  You are doing so great with your goals and weight loss. It is cool you have someone to talk to you about your race schedule.  I can see how that would put your mind at ease.  I know I'm doing too many races but I want to hit these swims before the end of season.  I have something almost every weekend in November.  too much.

Hey, I know I told you this but I love the profile picture.

kirih - 2009-10-31 12:14 PM !

I will be partying as Alexys from Dynasty tonight at our BoobToob Blowout halloween extravaganza - costumes, potluck, board games, and spiked cider... and probably one or two pieces of candy... But have to get my last pumpkin run in first - good thing it's short and sweet cause I gotta lotta tidying and shopping to do.

Pictures Kiri!!  Let's see them!  BTW - You an always come south if you want a warm weather race.  We have running races all year round.  We'll start tris again in February.

What are the next races we have planned?   I have a 10K planned for December 5.  It is a local race - the South Pasadena Tiger Run.  The 5K is very flat and fast and the 10K is hilly and brutal.  And because it is a local race, the less serious runners do the 5K, leaving only the real tigers (pun intended) to do the 10K.  Which in turn means that I have a very good chance of coming in last.  Two years ago I was last and last year I was next to last.  I am in better running shape this year and should be even more so and am hoping to beat at least TWO people !!!!   Ha ha ha.  My training program has just started incorporating hills and I will certainly need those to do this race.

Do the 10k!!  You are in great shape right now!  Go for it!

I've got a ton of things on the calendar!  The next race is this weekend - Longer triathlon.  After that race I have a 10 mile run, then a 66 mile bike race, then a marathon in January.  the races are cutting into my training but I feel like I need to do them.

Are you officially in your HIM training plan now?  I start mine on Monday.

Do the races.  I love doing them, but I just don't have the time so much any more.  The races are fun because there is a whole different energy level than going out on your own.  Plus, there is some calibration about how your training is going.  I just don't do 5Ks any more because they got to be too expensive for just going out and running 3 miles on city streets.  For running races, they have to be longer or trail races.  Of course, I am contemplating a 5K on Thanksgiving with my grandson, but that's different.

Well, I've officially registered for Irongirl 2010 today! That's the triathlon that got me hooked on this complete madness! My first Irongirl was 2008 and this will be my third. So I've got Eagleman HIM June 13,2010 and Irongirl August 22,2010. I'm looking for a sprint tri about 3-4 weeks out from Eagleman and then maybe a July tri and I'm debating Lobsterman Tri back home in Maine in September..that's an Oly distance.

It always feels good to have new stuff!! Makes me feel like an "elite athlete"! LOL

I've actually talked 3 co-workers into signing up for Irongirl and a couple of friends from my scrapbooking circles! This year is going to be fantastic!

I'm going to start back running tonight but just doing a 30:1 interval so that I'm running for 30 seconds and walking for 1 minute..then I'll work my way back to my 1:1 by the time I get cleared by the doctor. The weekend after I have clearance I'll be doing the Cold Turkey 10K and in December I'll be running the Celtic Solstice 5 miler. Nothing else planned right now, I'll have to see what comes up in December for the Virginia triathlons and other schedules!

Good to hear you signed up! How did you sign up for IronGirl? when I go to the Irongirl site it says 2010 schedule out Dec 1. I was thinking of doing one next year if they have it again in Syracuse, NY. Take it easy running.

226 this morning. -1. My weight seems to be jumping between 226-228 on a regular basis, so let's see how long this holds, or if I can push lower. We've switched to only meat&veggies for dinner, and I'm trying to get in more protein per day to see if that helps any... Thinking about also incorporating one day a week strength to shake things up a bit. Utterly sick of sitting in this plateau land...

There's a pic from halloween on my blog (sunday). I haven't uploaded the rest of the pics from the evening, it was low-key and mellow - lots of board games. And I only had a couple pieces of candy! (But lots of hot cider w/ amaretto &/or brandy).

Keep it up!

Well, I ran with my running group last night. I did a couple of miles with the 30:1 intervals. I'm actually sore in my butt today?? Weird. But it felt good doing it! I'm only going to run once a week until I get my doctor's clearance and walk the remainder of the week to be on the safe side and not injure my insides while they're still healing. One girl from my running group that hasn't been consistent because she just got married, etc has offered to run with me for the Cold Turkey 10K. We can go for about 3-4 miles easy and then walk the rest if we have to. I was pretty psyched for that offer because I was getting ready to volunteer to work it to cheer my girls on! The night before the 10K there is a "Dazzle Dash" for only 1.4 miles but it's at night and thru the woods where they hold a big Christmas light drive-thru festival every year. I'm getting some co-workers to sign up for that and that will be a great warm up the night before the 10K!

Lisa- Irongirl 2010 is put on my the Columbia Triathlon Association here in Columbia Maryland so I actually only had to go to tricolumbia.org and they have a link to register for all of their events. Registration opened yesterday for 2200 spots and as of 10am this morning less than 100 spots remained!! WOW! I registered for Irongirl 2008 in January/February that year! Last year I registered that day or the day after registration opened and it was sold out within 2 weeks, this year I think it will be within 3-4 days! Amazing how much interest this sport has garnered in just a couple of years! Irongirl is SUCH an amazing atmosphere for women and is a great way for women to try out a triathlon..that's how I got hooked that's for sure! This year will be my first coed tri!

I'll be weighing in tomorrow!! YIKES!

Hey ladies!  I'm going on a run this evening when my man gets home.  This will be my first day of exercise since my race.  I feel better today but still tired.  I think a lot of it is diet related.  I need to concentrate on my nutrition to start working on my weight.  This weekend I ate everything in sight!  I'm lucky I didn't gain more than 1 pound.

On our bike ride this weekend we ran into 3 people training for the IMAZ.  They were an hour into a 5.5 hour ride.  One guys said something interesting.  He said, "I realized that losing 5 pounds was like gaining a month of training.  That five pounds makes all the training a little easier on your body."  I believe it.  I think I am going to focus on the 5 pounds ONLY for now.  If I can lose 5 pounds I'll be down to 188.  That would be cool.

Leah - I think I am going to continue to do the races.  I know I push myself harder under race conditions.  That has to be good for training.

Keeley, I'm glad you were able to run!  These are your first steps towards your HIM!!  Must feel great to be able to get moving again.  I'm doing a 10 mile Irongirl race in a couple weeks.  I love all girl races too.

Debb - I am so happy for all your weightloss!  I hope you are feeling proud of yourself.  You are working so hard and it is melting off!  Keep up the good work.

Kiri - I can't wait to see your photos.  I'll go check you out after this.

Lisa - what are up too?  Did you weigh in today?

My scale broke a few weeks ago, funny I'm in no rush to replace it. I guess I could check on the wii fit.
I'm not trying it now, I had a big workout day today SBR, bootcamp, aqua aerobics and pilates. I had a pasta dinner after. So not tonight anyway.
