I did mooseman last year - the frickenest coldest water i ever have been in. It hurt to get in there. Beautiful race though.

How is it? I was looking at it yesterday as maybe my first HIM. Is the bike portion a tough one? And the run?

runnerx - 2009-10-04 11:57 AM Ok, I'd have to say a successful half marathon yesterday, especially considering just over a week ago I was unable to run at all and thought I was shut down for the year. It was humid, but at least no rain and no t-storms. best part was that my gf ran it and since this was kind of a stretch distance for her, I wanted to be part of it. Sure enough, we ran together the entire race. Both of us pushing each other at times. Perfect scenario. The only bad stretch was after I took a Gu around mile 10, then hit a hill and my stomach started to get queasy. So a short walk, and then we were good again. Our last mile was the fastest of the day! 4 more weeks till NYC marathon...time will tell if it's in the cards or not. I'll aim for an 18miler this coming weekend, then a 20, then 15ish, and then it's race time. Not the optimal training plan, but it is what it is... Keep running everyone!

Good job!

Good morning Reapers!  Just got back from a 12 mile run.  My legs are little wobbly, but it felt good!  I hope everyone enjoys their Sunday.

Good job Cheri

You too!  Your 19.5 km is a little longer than my 12 miles.

I did the Olympic distance. The Half was 2 loops for both the bike and the run. The bike had a nasty hill on it, but otherwise ok. The run wasn't bad. The problem was the temperatures. The oly on Saturday had that cold water, then for the Half on Sunday, the air temp just got extremely hot. Strange. But, i would do it again.

Was the race in June or July? Is it in Newfound Lake? I have a friend with a house up there.

Well gee. And I was just warming up the cattle prod, to help push you out the door!

*sigh* I'll put the prod away until tomorrow then.....

Nice running everyone.  I am taking the weekend off but plan to run all week.  Long run tomorrow.  Not real long really, around 6 miles or so.  I don't know, no race to train for and I am a bit lost.

Lost? Wait.... Let me take out that cattle prod again. I knew I shouldn't have packed it up....

The race is June 6 for the Half and the 5th for the oly.  Yup, Newfound Lake.  I think mav is gonna be there but don't know for sure.  Timing is perfect for my schedule (kids still in school) and I don't mind cold water too much.  Kind of excited about it.  So is Bryan.

Damn I feel downright domestic. Just got back from the grocery store.  Going to put a roast in the oven to cook while I go swim at 4:30.  Hope the family doesn't think this will become the norm.  Pork roast was even on sale.....roasting it with sweet potatoes and onions....think I'll put a little maple syrup in there too.

I updated the spreadsheet with my progress thus far.  I'm right on track for my goal.  The month is 13% done and I'm at 13.3% completion of my goal.
