Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: January Training and Nutrition Challenge billsorg - 2011-01-10 12:53 PM Happy Monday! Fun weekend, but not the greatest from a nutritional standpoint... OK... it was awful from a nutritional standpoint. Lots of junk food (football food - chicken wings, chili, beer, snacks, etc.). But I did get a trainer ride in yesterday. But no workout today... I will update the spreadsheet tonight, although I'm almost afraid to. Is it possible to actually LOSE points? I sure hope we can't lose points or I would be looking at a negative score after this weekend. Family activities seldom have good nutritious food. I did have some fruits and veggies but compared to the rest of what I ate... Not a good balance. |

I got up early to swim. I wound up swimming and running (helps, of course, to be accompanied by a piglet who over and over again keeps begging to know what he can do for me/the tri club, anything, articles, advertisements, promotion, hitting the road, organizing people/events ... after all, he's semi-retired, doesn't work, and just loooves triathlon and does that for a 'living') ... I spent 1hr 43min putting together the rest of that &%$F#@!!! trainer and trying to get a bike on it ... and did actually wind up riding for 25 minutes, so ... I think you can at least manage to get on your trainer, if not even ride it for a bit. Congrats on finally getting the trainer together! hahahaha ... i think you were one of the crushers there when i was first trying to put it together ... good gravy. Yeah, I remember you posting your frustration over missing pieces and things not going together like they should. Makes me a little nervous about getting a trainer. oh, not at all. in america and if you pay any decent amount of money for them they come in one piece, or at least, a few big, obvious, pieces. |

Did I hear my name mentioned? Something woke me up. I was dreaming. Something about tasering BT challengers.... Eh, nevermind. You probably don't want to hear about that, I'm thinking. OK, hold on while I read back a few posts. |

There's no way I'm gonna write a spreadsheet that subtracts points for unhealthy eating. I'd be at negative five-thousand by now. |

Master 1346 Gold Coast | Subject: RE: January Training and Nutrition Challenge So the latest on the crazy weather over here is that yesterday there were flash floods in Toowoomba, about 2-3 hour drive from where I live, and there are 8 confirmed dead and 72 missing so far. I was watching tv last night when they cut in with a warning for everyone living in a certain area to get out, right now, as a huge wall of water was heading for them. Thankfully we live close to the coast, not that close to the rivers and on reasonably high ground. I am so grateful for that and so sad for everyone effected. |

To fully understand this, Toowoomba sits right on top of a mountain range that runs around 100 - 150kms inland down the entire east cost. To get flash flooding on top of a mountain would have to be extreme, however all that water has now run down off the mountain. Unfortunately the long term forecast is for rain to continue through to April, hopefully not as strong and with some sunshine in between. |

Thanks Joe, I really didn't explain quite how crazy it was to get that kind of flooding in Toowoomba. |

Not for me!!! Actually, really its only the fact I like sugar in my coffee that makes this really hard, otherwise I could get a few points. Oh well....must exercise more, but this rain sure makes outdoors training hard! |

I just gave a strength training session a shot and nearing the end of it I was thrown back into bronchospasms despite taking an inhaler dose before I began... At least I took the time to set up the strength training plan! I also shifted my tri training plan that I expect/hope to start next week. Here's to healthy lungs!

And honestly it's not really dinner it's just the fact that dad's grilling some bell peppers and sweet onions.... SOOOOOOO YUMMY!!! I had grilled veggies for lunch saturday. Very tasty. I'm ready for more. I say we have a big party and everyone bring their favorite veggies to grill up. i thought i heard a paul piglet in here [[[melon press]]] i think i'd bring sweet taters [yams, you know the deep orange kind] in tinfoil! Hey Yanti! I hope you had a good weekend. btw, those are some cold looking toes in your new avatar. it was frrrrreezing -- yes right here in bali -- but i was having the time of my life! i'm actually lying down on a net strung between the hulls of a catamaran, on rough seas in rain. at that point, shoes would have been kind of useless. we were all really cold since there wasn't an 'indoors' on the cat, but i'm telling you i had a killer ride and the best view And grilled sweet taters sounds tasty. I've never tried them grilled. why ... why ... how else would you have them? -genuinely puzzled- i mean, people don't -boil- them, do they? *shudder* Baked, with lots of creamy butter and cinnamon. mmmm Here in Cali, sweet potato fries with jalapeno/arugula aoili is big. Absolutely to die for! |

Lots to catch up on here - for those of us not under a foot or so of snow, cube up a sweet potato or two, salt, pepper, a hunk a butter and fresh rosemary. Place the cubed potato pieces in center of tin foil, wrap it up into a little ball and grill over med. heat. Shake a few times during the cooking...delish Doing good on exercise and water consumption - fruits and veggies are more than I'd normally eat but the darn sugar is tough!! My downfall is after the kids are in for the night and I roam aimlessly in the kitchen cabinets. Not that im hungry but I just want something. Like last night, a few spoons of Nutella. mmmmmm.... |
