Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Today I booked the Hotel in Montgomery, AL for the Coaching Clinic by USAT (April 27 and 28), hopefully in a month or so I will be an Official Level I Triathlon Coach by the governing body. I'm anxious, it took a lot of attempts! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() mikar_68 - 2012-04-18 10:31 AM Challenge sounds fun. I'm in. How do we post our workouts? Here or in the workout logs? Someone with computer talent will create a grid for logging points and workouts on this forum. BTW I'm in. My two cents I say if you have a race you get a point for all events in the race regardless of time, distance or speed. You will be going race speed, which hopefully (?) is faster and harder than most training paces. Today I did a 6 mile runch in 52:25, I was at MAF +1, which I attribute to a stressful week. I start trial tomorrow, so, I'm probably done until Saturday. There goes work getting in the way of fun.
Ernesto- I have no doubt that you will be a level I coach in a month, and if USAT has a problem with that, they can answer to us. Edited by JBacarella 2012-04-18 2:33 PM |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() mikar_68 - 2012-04-18 11:31 AM Challenge sounds fun. I'm in. How do we post our workouts? Here or in the workout logs? Data will be posted in following format: Proposed reporting format: Mitch - Swim X; Bike X; Run X; Total X; Minutes XX:XX:XX So you total your qualifying Swims for the month, Bikes for the month, etc. Then you add those up for the grand total. You report your total S/B/R minutes at the end of the line for tiebreaker purposes. It will be a list format - if you are playing you add your name to the list and update your ranking as the challenge progresses. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() For those new to the challenge, here is what the reporting looked like during our previous March challenge, where Kev is in bold characters because he was the one inputing the latest update and he had 7 swims, 9 bike workouts and 14 runs, for a total of 30 workouts and a cum. time of 37:06:05. Whomever goes next, just copies the chart and then ads his data while adding the bold format to his name/date and removing it from the previous entrant. - Hope this helps - Gabe S 11 / B 18/ R19; Total = 48; 69:04:32 |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() This is perfect! My motivation has been a wavering a little, I've been putting too much time towards household chores and outdoor projects instead of training. Really. Who would rather weed a garden or clean up the yard than go for a bike ride? That's been me for the past two weeks. I think this challenge will really help me maintain some focus and motivation to get my workouts in. |

The accountability part is great, and we're all pretty competitive so we like to see our names on the top. Remember, challenge starts on May 1st! Edited by ernestov 2012-04-18 10:22 PM |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Running yesterday I came to the realization that the playlist on my IPOD is getting crusty and I need to change things up. I want to liven things up. Right now I have a pretty heavy dose of Rolling Stones and Van Halen (David Lee Roth version not the sucky pop Sammy Hagar version) plus some others from my era, but I did include some newer stuff that my teemager downloaded that has a fast tempo. Anyways, I tired of it. The question is what is everyone else listening to? I looking for higher bpm and energetic. |

Not sure if you're a Sammy fan, since he is the front man, but it might work for you. I'm also a fan of Living Colour, they released a new album a couple years ago that I think is great and run/swim/bike to often. I also have a consistent lineup of Red Hot Chili Peppers and selections from live Police recordings. |

Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I find the same, that my playlist is very ordinary. Ilisten to a lot of Coldplay. Not fast temp but easy listening, |

My iPod is all over the road in terms of music: Beastie Boys, Guns n Roses, Queen, Zeppelin, Jay-Z, Eminem, Coldplay, Bon Jovi, Springsteen, Top 40 from 11 yr old, U2, Grateful Dead, Green Day. I find the wider variety creates less boredom. |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ernesto - Talk me off the ledge here. My swimming volume is at an all time low as work has made it impossible for me swim at lunch and the morning 1:45 -2hr bike sessions I have in my schedule no longer make it possible for me to cram the swim in after my morning rides. Late nights at the office make swimming in the evening impossible. I'm planning on giving up my rest day on Friday and using it as a long slow swim day. I don't see any relief on the work front before my race on June 10, so I am concerned about getting by on 2 swims per week. Should I drop one of my rides and only do 3 per week and add back a swim? |

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() For all the questions'... "What's on your Ipod?'.... I'm very mixed. As my hubby loves his metal head days; I have to break the screaming up a bit. Everything form AC/DC to Train. I know, I know... and for Mitch and Chris...some Turning Japanese (when this song cues I always smile)!!!! I use the site jogfm.com and insert the tempo / pace I want the music at. I then use outside sources to get a playlist of music with the 180 bmp I'm looking for and create multiple running lists. It gives me music I love at a pace I love and it works! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() use my droid and iheart radio for running always diff stuff. ITS A LITTLE HEAVY but the ever changing music keeps me going. |

It all depends on your race schedule. One long swim a week may be all you need to maintain your muscles active, and three to four weeks before the big races you can start adding frequency. Now that situation changes if your racing schedule is going to have B or A races in that same period, in that case I would drop a short ride. |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I started crafting playlists for run races that coincide to a degree with parts of the race. I start out with a slower tempo, style of music (Windows Rolled Down by Amos Lee, Hard Sun by Eddie Veder) move into some "inspirational" pump you up kind of songs (Lose Yourself by Eminem, Good Feeling by Flo Rida) and then really get going with some White Stripes, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Nirvana. |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Sorry I have been MIA, but crazy week, and with my second race tomorrow barley have time to breath. Count me in for the May challenge. After my race tomorrow, I am planning to put a good effort for 2 or 3 months and run my last sprint before I go into Oly or international distance, so the challenge will help a lot. Ernesto et all - I am planning on changing my saddle (to the ISM Adamo) and was thinking also of putting clip-on aerobars on my bike. I know it wil take a while to make the adjustment to aerobars, but wanted to hear possible plus/cons on adding the aerobars. I am planning to do my next race in June, but its part of a trilogy (june/july/august) and since I was not planning to do them all, I can postpone and do the july one. Keep in mind that I live in FL, extremely flat (only "hills" are bridges in some races), so no much shifting or braking involved during races. I have read mixed comments about shorties vs. regular size aerobars, so would like to hear your opinion on the matter also. I have a great bike shop very high on proper fitting, so will get fit with the aerobars if I decide to go that route, and they will problaly want to test a few to make sure we choose the right one, but wanted to go in there with some knowledge and make sure its the right thing to do. Last, any recommendations on aerobars? |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I had the Profile Designs T2+ on my road bike before I bought the tri bike, and was very happy with them. Price point was reasonable and the ability to fine tune the placement was excellent. They were not the carbon ones, I just couldn't justify the extra $$ for a difference I may or may not actually feel. They were so easy to put on and take off, I actually removed them from my bike and took them in my luggage for my first HIM where I rented a bike, because I didn't want to pay to fly my bike there. |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Samyg - 2012-04-20 2:54 PM Send me you shipping address and I will send you a pair of HED clip ons that are excellent, brand new and free of charge. Just buy me a mojito next time in Florida. They came with my handlebars but I had some Zipps that were lighter so I went with those. The HEDs have been siting in a toolbox for over three years now.Sorry I have been MIA, but crazy week, and with my second race tomorrow barley have time to breath. Count me in for the May challenge.
