Crazy.  I think a tornado just hit the Georgia Dome.  I'm watching the Miss. State v Bama game, and all of the suddent there's this rumbling, stuff is falling from the ceiling, and the beams and scoreboard are swinging around.  There's been two minutes left in overtime for about 40 minutes now.  They still have another game to play tonight, too.

Anyway.  Gotta race tomorrow.  40km time trial.  Looks like it's going to be WINDY.  Oh well.  Might swim after the race, then take part in the St. Paddy's day festivities.

Have a good one, group.

We got to use wheels

Almost needed a car on the way out.  The wind was like a brick wall.  Up one incline I was struggling to hit 10mph.  On the way back and down that slope, though, I went over 40mph.  It was like two different races.  One was survival, the next one was big ring small cog and ride like you stole it.

And I didn't finish last!

Ok. I've got bike envy. Since I won't be able to post my bike centerfold 'till later in the week when it arrives and is assembled, lets see all of your best pics. In honor of the impending turn in weather, lets see your ride! Post 'em!

PS - I bought my bike on friday, and found a pair of Sidi road-cycle shoes for half-off today. Tomorrow's goal is to find clips for the shoes (three-screw triangle formation on the carbon soles) and used pedals for next-to-nothing. Any rec's?

It changes a 73 degree to a 78 degree.  VERY different and I'm still trying to get used to it.

Nate,

What kind of pedals did you pick up? I'm thinking of buying some off ebay as well . . .

Yea, just put the pedals on the bike. I bought speedplay X3 `s, I wanted them for the dual side entry. That way I just step on them and go. I paid just under $95 usd for them which is close to the going rate on Ebay for the X series. New I think they are over $200.

Phone call from Klarsfeld's Cycles across town this afternoon -- my bike is assembled and ready to go. I've gotta buy pedals and a rack for the car, but aside from that, the bike will be in my living room tomorrow. (Bad news: just in time for the snow thats beginning to fall. Good news: I have a four day weekend!)

Anyone want to weight in on the difference between plastic and carbon soles for bike shoes? Is the latter worth $50 more?

I have plastic but the carbon ones are so much beter and lighter, it`s quit the difference in weight. If you can afford it go with carbon ( I couldn`t that`s why I have plastic ).

As you ride more and get better, you will really appreciate the carbon.  Lighter, stiffer, more effecient, more comfortable, last longer.  I've got a pair of the Specialized Trivents and you can toss them up like flipping a quarter.  I'd definitely say the 50 bucks is worth it.

It's sorta like running shoes.  You can run in anything, but a really nice pair of shoes you are comfortable in will make a world of difference.  Same with the cycling shoes.

I have plastic. They are tri-shoes in that they just have the single strap. They are Pearl Izumi and for bike shoes they are extremely comfortable.

For pedals I use Look el cheapos. They are a bit heavy but I didn't want to spend a lot when I got them thinking I would get better ones when I knew what I wanted. I like 'em though so I have kept them. Speedplays like Nathan would be nice and I understand that they are much better for your knees.
