I don't use the yellow thing.  Just the foam rubber gasket/disk think under the cap.  I never get splashed...BUT I used to get soaked with back spray after taking a drink.  So I got a Camelback bitevalve and jammed it over the end of the straw.  It took a little work the first time, but it does go on.  Since installing that, not a single drop of spray on me.

Doll121 - 2009-07-12 4:03 PM Man this thing is a mess. Every little bump or crack I go over sprays me with sticky liquid. I have the one with the cap, but as you know it is a flexible cap that still lets the liquid out. I realized today after the ride that I was using the yellow poufy thing wrong. It was at the bottom of the bottle instead of at the top right under the cap. But still I can't imagine this will make much of a difference.

What am I doing wrong? Does anyone else have this problem? Any good solutions out there?

Solution? Get a rear water bottle holder....... I tossed my Aero drink. hate it.

One of those rear bottle ejection systems?

I have an XLab with carbon holders........only time I ever lost a bottle was when I was acquiring my most lovely road rash!

I turn the yellow thing sideways (horizontal) across the top of the drink bottle. Only on hard bumps will my Infinit splash a bit.

This is by far the best way.  When I first got my AB, I was covered in GE.  It was all over me and my bike.  After reading somewhere on here to turn the yellow poofy thing sideways and use the little black cover, I have not had an issue.  It has worked perfectly.  I suggest trying that before spending more money on other unecessary equipment.

That is the proper installation, 99.99% use it vertical, not sure why....I used a shower poof before i switched to bontrager aero drink.

Agree with this.  I turn mine sideways at the top of the bottle AND I applied black electrical tape over the outside of the lid to cover about 80% of the opening.  I can still squirt additional liquid in from my bottles with no trouble.  For a while, I had the whole top of the lid covered and I just opened the lid when I needed to refill.  Either way...

I read about the shower puff...used that from the get go and have never had any problems with splashing. My shower puff fits snuggly under the lid and doesn't interfere with refilling. I love it!!

Same here.  Plus I don't fill it to the brim and I try to avoid putting really sticky stuff in it.  Mostly water and keep the GE or infinit in the back.
