I heard yesterday that Relay teams will be allowed to cross the finish line together. Or maybe just allowed to get a pic together? I'm not sure how to confirm this but I like the idea.

New user 14 | Subject: RE: Challenge Penticton 2013 Who's in!?! I'm in !!! Signed up the day after a tough DNF at IMC '12. Richter is not all that bad , I find the rollers more of a challenge and Yellow Lake is tough due to where it falls in the race....at 140k the last thing you want to be doing is climbing another mountain pass. I will be riding solo out in Penticton on the May long weekend....hoping to find others to ride with. Tracy |

Extreme Veteran 1704 Penticton, BC | Subject: RE: Challenge Penticton 2013 Who's in!?! Hi All, I road the bike route on Sunday as part of my relay team. I had a great time and enjoyed the whole day. Once I got off the bike I went to the Finish Line Captain to see if they needed any more help but they had enough volunteers so I went and watched finishers cross the finish line with their families & kids. Sister Madonna got off her bike and went and volunteered to work in the Medical tent. She was there until midnight as were my wife and I. On Monday my wife took her registration for 2014 and at the Athletes/Volunteer dinner she was invited to race in Challenge Roth next year. The kids were great to watch, really excited to cross the finish line - all smiles and high-fives. Now I have to decide what I want to do next year. I enjoyed the relay team and I really enjoyed running across the finish line with my team but I'm also considering the new HIM option or the full distance. |

I have committed to doing the relay in 2014 with my soon to be hubby. I am training for the swim, he is doing the bike and then I am doing the marathon portion. It will be my first marathon! Eeeek. I'm not the greatest runner and I am a bit nervous about the distance, but I'd like to complete the full distance in the next couple of years. I volunteered at whistler ironman this year and it was an absolute blast! I can't wait to become part of the challenge family and an ironman...one day! |
